What do you guys think?
I hope it doesn't mean more exclusives while multiplatform Souls games get neglected/2nd priority.
In the not so short term, I'd like to see Dark Souls 3, directed by Miyazaki,
I think we're probably about to get dat Call of Duty, Assassin's Creed yearly feelz with this series.
"This should be safe. The boss only has a 3% chance t---- YOU DIED"
Give Miyazaki all the money
Also, no Dark Souls III please
No Dark Souls III? So, just to hell with all of the fans of that series across multiple platforms?
If Sony is paying for it it's unlikely that From Software is reaping all the benefits.
I'd rather see them doing it on their own, than being a work for hire studio. At this point their soul-like games shouldn't really be a risky venture, and now that they're owned by kadokawa they really shouldn't need to go to an outside publisher to raise capital.

Will Miyazaki direct it though? That's the question.
He doesn't seem to me like someone who would work on a direct sequel to his games. Demon's and Dark obviously don't count since they're different IPs with different worlds.
Dark Souls will become a staple, new IPs will be pumped out. I don't think we'll ever see a sequel to Bloodborne unless it goes the route of Dark Souls for multiplat and by another team. Miyazaki said he likes doing new IPs himself. I don't think he has ever had an interest in sequels.
If there's a Bloodborne sequel I don't think it would be by Miyazaki and his team. I'm personally not that interested in a sequel to Bloodborne.

I stand corrected

Saying no to ds3 doesn't necessarily mean going back on their fans. They can easily make a new multiplat ip. Since its not like the game turned exclusive. They could possibly put it on hiatus in fear of franchise fatigue but personally i dont see that happening.
They would piss off legions of fans across the PC, Xbox and PlayStation communities if they dropped Dark Souls. They have only made 2 since going multiplat and there is no reason to drop that in favor of doing just Bloodborne with Sony and/or some new IP. No, I don't see them doing it, either.
It means that Bamco probably is in talks with From to start making "DarkBorne" or something like that.
It means if you like Souls, better buy a PS4 to make sure you can play them all
Considering Bloodborne's sales numbers, I think a high percentage of Dark Souls fans already jumped over to PS4. So I don't think they'd be abandoning them.
I'm not worried we won't get one. I'm worried that it's not going to be given as much attention/care like with Dark Souls 2.I don't think there is any chance we won't get a Dark Souls 3 (multiplatform of course). We know the games do well on PC and Xbox, they're not going to drop that audience.
I think PS4 owners were starving for a good exclusive and finally got one. I don't really think there is much more to it than that.
What more is there to do in the Dark Souls universe that can't be done with a new IP?
It was a bottlenecked high-profile release, one of the few getting universal praise on PS4 so it doesn't surprise me. I wonder what comes after though. The series is a known quantity now so I can only imagine it declines, it doesn't seem like the type of game to continue to build an audience.
Gee, I don't know. Make another great game with an established name? Why should they drop it after only 2 multiplat games in favor of doing yet another new IP?
yes "starving for good exclusives"
must be the new "ps4 has no gamez"

I think Bloodborne just established that they dont need to ride the Souls name to success though. I'd rather they make new IPs off of the Souls formula and keep things fresh. If they keep riding the Dark Souls name/style it's going to end up handcuffing them creatively.
No, it is not, because it actually makes sense. The PS4 has a large install base, but lacked a critical success retail exclusive since at the very least Infamous SS. Bloodborne is the first "big" exclusive it got.
Not saying that's why it's selling well, but I can see it being a factor. No need to get defensive.
