Glyphs doesn't use materials. I'm fairly sure you need to make the root first for enter (well, I had to).
But for the offerings , once you do one root with offerings, you can enter all chalices with those offerings via glyphs (you don't need to do each root with offerings for Isz, Loran, etc...)
I'm done with this game for now. Holy crap, what a ride.
I just got the Platinum, and I probably shouldn't have bothered. That last
Yarnham Queen
trophy was nothing but bullshit. Those chalice dungeons are lame, uninteresting and boring, and they really burned me out of the game. Except a couple of unique bosses (and soothing my OCD), it was a bad experience, really miles behind the real game. Too bad.
All in all, I can say that this game will probably be pretty far up in my top five of the year. Not number one, because I think Ori keeps that spot in my heart for now, and I still need to see The Witcher and MGS, but it's definitely up there. Amazing game.
So I can't beat BSB. So where do I go now for a some new area to progress? I want to come back when I am higher level. Do I need to buy that 10k badge?

Yes! I thought that's how it worked. Makes it way less grindy in the long run, and then ritual blood (5) are worth 10,000 echoes. I had 64 on hand recently.
I really love the Chalices. I know they aren't going to be for everyone but I am fully hooked.

To progress from the start of the game, you can choose one of the below:
1. Kill
Cleric Beast
, which unlocks
the key item that costs 10k echoes in the shop.
Then kill
Father G
and skip Old Yharnam, since the item you purchased lets you open a gate into Cathedral Ward.
2. Skip
Cleric Beast
. Kill
Father G
and then go into Old Yharnam. Upon killing
Blood Stained Beast
, an door leading to an elevator in Cathedral Ward (near the lamp) is unlocked. Going that way will allow you to get into Cathedral Ward without having to purchase the item listed in 1.
3. Skip 1 and 2 completely, by
jumping in a certain location
. I won't say what it is, but someone did link a video to it on the last page or so, for purposes ot echo farming in early game.
Still disappointed that the soundtrack included in the CE is digital instead of a CD. If you're going that route might as well offer it to everyone who bought the game.
Not sure, he's at the part where you go around the outside of the church, down a flight of steps and he's kneeling or praying at a small alter. To be clear I hit him a week or so ago but went back tonight to check on him....he remembered my accidental attack.
Y eah I admit I hid in the staircase a few times, then just went straight for his sweet spot, ran back rinsed and repeated...used maybe two vials. It was so uneventful I didnt even press record after. You are catching up to me as I just completed the next area. I didnt record the Em
! I am doing chalices though now before I finish the game as I want to get some cool weapon options for the final bosses. You or anyone who wants to help on each other's defiled dungeons (or if you wnat help blasting through the preliminary dungeons) let me know:

I like them. I honestly like the art and the challenge of the Depth 5 ones, although sometimes you get a root that is plain bullshit lol. The exclusive enemies and bosses are cool too.
I think people get burned because the grind to reach the interesting chalices is annoying. That, the problems with co-op and the need of better loot.
But I wouldn't mind a reworked Chalice system in BB2 with all the improvements needed.

Nice. I guess I'll blow all my materials on a chalice with all the offerings and hope that enables everything to be free via glyphs. Thanks for the info.
Just afraid of committing to a random dungeon of my own and blowing all my materials that can't be purchased for insight (bastard of loran, I'm looking at you).
send them to the chapel which is more "safer. If you send them to the clinc, they will be turn into a type of beast. Won't say much besides that and the red messenger ribbon belongs to the little girl I believe. Guessing you sent her to the chapel?
Customization option for your messengers when you leave a message. To change how your messengers look, there's a tree stump with messengers in it in the Hunter's Dream. It's a little hidden, I missed it for the longest time. It's behind the house, go around the house near the exit at the top of the hill.
How do you leave a gesture in a message? Earlier today, i read a message in the game, and suddently a blue aura NPC appeared and did a gesture in the message.
What is with the enemies AI with ladders? Esp Hunters, who are likely suppose to have the best AI (or so I assume) outside of bosses. Notice several times some enemies, esp Hunters, will just get on, get off, get on, get off ladders, even if your right above them. Had 1 hunter who was using that weapon that hurts you in 2H mode and died without me even hitting him.. lol.
Then there are the ranges on hunters. Move far enough away, they will ignore you. Even if you then follow them back. Love how some will always return to their spot, you know, facing away from you, so you can do a vertical attack and then visceral attack them!
Ever get a hunter off it trail by knocking it into another area? It will act lost and confused and basically let you attack you.
I wonder if this will be fixed in the next few patches. At least hopefully the ladder issue will be fixed. lol
There are some strange yellowish skeletons along the road in Yahar'gul. They're sometimes not lit when I'm cooping. What's the purpose of these things? I've looked at two wikis and found nothing.

Thin the herd, attack his side. I personally found back-dashing to be more effective in dodging his sky ice attacks than running at an angle. He's also weak to lightning.
Will something like Isz Root enable Sinister Isz Root via glyph, or do I have to do create them once as well? "Sinister" is just denoting an offering type, meaning no I won't have to make it first if I've used the offering, right?
I wouldn't even need to ask if I could just buy all the materials, haha. I'd just do it.
Your right my bad. If you beat BSB you open up an alternative passage in the tomb that will lead to past the gate. Or yea you can just buy the badge for 10k to open the gate.

lol yeah is confusing as fuck. Basically, create one dungeon of all the roots (only depth 5, they are the only one worth) and make only one of them with all the offerings. After that you'll have access to all the root glyphs with all the offerings.
I'm a high ranking finance manager at a fortune 100 company and yesterday we had legal in our office presenting the 2015 leadership principles that would be used across the company. After explaining who she was, the lawyer said "I hope you gain insight here today" and I spent the next 15 minutes debating which boss granted me the highest number of insight instead of paying attention. This game reeeeeaaalllllyyy sinks it's teeth into you.

Seeing as I have about all of the chalices with all of the materials needed, but haven't done roots, I'm going to do some experimenting with glyphs and see what I can actually enable with and without creating. I mean, I'm going to have to do it anyway. This seriously needs clarified/debunked somewhere.
Yeah my Blade of Mercy and I are wrecking ass...Ive kept my LHB as my second and the one time I had to use it as the Blade needed repair I almost died on regular mobs...its too slow in comparison. In the time it takes to do three slow swings with LHB I can do more damage overall with 8-9 Blade swing/combos. The stun lock is slightly better (it seems) with LHB, but htere is still stun potential with the blade. People just get used to waht they get used to, but this gmae is awesome in that all weapons are fairly equal in viability.
