Up to episode 9. Good stuff all around. Not in the same league as some of the top tier television shows as of late, but still very very good. Especially so considering the genre.

Watched the finale, my word some of the shots were shit. Also, at times I got the feeling Daredevil was a subpar hero since he so often got his asskicked.

It's great. I feel like his power levels and abilities being more down to Earth is what makes him so special. Every fight is still exciting, and I have no idea which he'll win, and which he might lose. Plus, it feels like he's taking on appropriately sized conflicts.

By far the best thing about this season is that Daredevil bleeds. A lot.

Hope he keeps getting his ass kicked in future seasons.

Foggy is like that guy that's kind of annoying at first but then his sincerity kind of grows on you overtime. If he was going for that on purpose I thought he did a good job. But definitely not the best actor.

Plus, it feels like he's taking on appropriately sized conflicts.
for now lol...the show has hinted at a lot of interesting things for the future. I'm excited to see how far they go with it.

Episode 11
For some weird reason I genuinely thought Wesley had raped Karen when she woke up from being drugged. Thankfully the show didn't go that route.
But then that ENDING THO. I said aloud "c'mon Karen just do it! just fuck him up! just do it now!" And then she actually freaking does it! I'm still reeling. RIP Wesley lol.

Foggy starts really annoying and the performance isn't great, but he seems to get more comfortable in the role as the season goes along, and by the time we get to episode 10 when
he finds Matt beat to shit and their relationship starts to get real strained
you can see why they picked this actor, I think. Wouldn't be surprised if his audition was one of the more dramatic scenes from these later episodes, he plays that stuff pretty well. And you kind of start to see how he is acting cool and trying to compensate for his perceived shortcomings around Matt. I went from not really liking the character/actor at the start to liking him quite a bit. On episode 12 now.

I hope season 2 has more Rosario, she's really good in this.

The thing is he was trained from birth in ninjitsu and other martial arts yet he was having his ass handed to him by untrained fighters.

After watching all this, is it worth reading Born Again as my first Daredevil comic?

I know the main kickoff point of the story (
Karen revealing Matt' name to someone
), and I can deal with that. But is there other stuff I would not understand if all I saw of DD is this show?

Fighters...plural. He's fighting off like 5 to 10 guys at once. And none of them are completely untrained. We're talking about enforcers for the mob. Most martial arts experts know to avoid fights where you're severely outnumbered. Daredevil don't care.

its different for him though he can "see" in a way , in 360 degree's at all times, he's never really got a blind side or loses a target by turning his back, thats deadly if you think about it. Not to mention he has them scouted through the walls before he encounters them.

Same, it was pretty shocking and it kinda sucked at first but now I kind of enjoy the thought that we may be getting a mostly completely original story.

It's been cool to watch where Marvel will and will not take liberties with the source material. In the end, I've really appreciated some of the choices they have made.
Urich's death
might suck for some people, but it's not like with comics, you don't have years to fill in the blanks.
He's not a love interest and doesn't offer too much that could be considered compelling on its own merit. And SOMEONE in the MCU has to die, right?

I hope season 2 has more Rosario, she's really good in this.

Claire Temple as a character is probably going to migrate to Luke Cage with guest appearances in the other Netflix shows. Speaking of liberties with the source material, I'm kind of glad that they merged Claire with the comic character Night Nurse, and it definitely makes sense in context of what Marvel is doing with these Netflix series to not have yet another nurse character wandering around.

And, since Night Nurse is essentially the physician on call for every superhero on the streets and Rosario Dawson has pull in both TV and movies, I wouldn't be surprised if she was the first TV-movie crossover character from the Netflix shows, and the first character introduced by a TV series to make their way into the movies.

Seems like you were expecting an action show.

Well, yes, it's a comic book superhero show about a guy who solves problems by punching them.

I dont understand this post. What other TV shows DO you like then?

Game of Thrones (although this season's premiere sucked), Lost, lots of comedies.

Wilson Fisk is an amazing character imo, and such a good portrayal by D'Onofrio. If you know him from Law & Order, Men in Black and that war movie by kubrick ( cant remember the name ) you know he is a great actor.

I've seen him be good in things. He's terrible in this. The voice is so ridiculous and so grating after awhile.

why Vanessa loves him ( she probably sees something in him besides just the criminal right? Do you really need explanation here?

What I'm saying is that at the time there was literally nothing to see in him BUT the criminal. The rest was just a horribly awkward and horribly boring man who looks like a baby in a suit.

I really should start reading them. I really love the show despite this character. Maybe a different actor would have been better. *shrug*

I posted this in another thread a while back in regards to Favorite Comic Book scenes-but it bears relevance here.

Daredevil #17. This shows who the best friend in the Marvel Universe is-Foggy Nelson. Foggy and Matt have been friends since college-and living with Foggy was never fun for Matt's supersenses:

But for Matt's birthday, Foggy has the best gift ever for him-something he would want Matt to see:

Just finished episode 13, what a series. I really hope there is a season 2, be kind of dumb not to after the reception its getting so far. That end fight scene was truly epic.

There probably won't be. This was just the origin story and there will be an origin story for Luke Cage, The Iron Fist, and Jessica Jones which will culminate in "Marvel's The Defenders".

Read the man without fear by Frank Miller first.

Besides the wealth, power, status, respect, the ambition, yeah. Nothing people have ever been attracted to there.

The pages above are from the 2011-2014 run. It got "rebooted" in 2014 but Waid is still writing and it's still good.

I...sort of disagree. The 2011-2014 run is nearly flawless, but the end of that ruined a great thing and the
move to San Francisco isn't working at all. The entire character is wrapped up in being the protector of his little corner of NYC. I agree that a million supers in one place is boring, but almost none of them have a connection to the city like Daredevil. I'm not really digging the new runs. The writing is still on point, but the stories he's telling so far are pretty bad.

She knew none of that. She knew only that he was a stiff, awkward man-baby buying a piece of art and asking her on a date. What did she know of any power, status, respect, ambition he had? Just another gross rich dude.

You may need to go back and watch how it all went down. For one, we can go ahead and assume she's not stupid, so she knew he was rich. We knew she knew he had the ability to buy out a high end gallery and somebody with that sort of money is bound to have power and ambition.

You keep saying man-baby, but none of that was apparent in their first two meetings. The first the only thing he said was that he was interested in buying what was her favorite painting in the gallery, the second he said "Any woman that can be bought it not worth having." As pickup lines go, that's probably pretty good in the elite world she was hovering around and she references that later in the same episode saying "I went out with you because I sensed something different about you." I promise you, dates have been made on a lot less.

Then the first date, after the thing with the Russian showed her the rest of it. And if you have trouble buying that, just remember that real life mobsters and thugs have relationships too.

I dunno, the Purple Man story was pretty good.

So I'm guessing that the filming of Daredevil took place after the sony disney deal. In the comics, Ben Urich worked for the Bugle. So hypothetically, if it happened earlier and before Daredevil began shooting, it would've just been the Daily Bugle that
had the FBI & police raid in the end.

But, since that wasn't the case and things happened the way it did in daredevil, is there a chance that
after being exposed of corruption, the bulletin will melt, and the daily bugle will be the new important newspaper in daredevil?

and I can use this as a segue to talk about spiderman, but i'm sure there's been talk about him in this thread already. Now all this time spiderman was not mentioned in the mcu because of sony, but now that the deal has happened, we have to believe that spiderman has been bitten a few years ago and has been operating as a superhero for an undisclosed amount of time and for some reason has not been heard of. and now thanks to the deal, he's going to be heard of and he operates mostly right there in manhattan.

i don't know how much of the island hell's kitchen takes up, but I'm sure spiderman has done his fighting there as well as elsewhere on the island. Whoever spiderman turns out to be
hopefully o'brien
i'd really like to see him interact on some level with cox.

other than that, I have to say i looooved this series. it's unreal that another season is at least a year away. I guess there's still a chance that
daredevil will be in cap3

Finished this during the weekend. Fantastic first half, but it dived deep into "meh" territory in the second half for me. Nevertheless looking forward for a hopefully improved second season.

Echoing others the show definetly falls apart a bit after Nelson V. Murdock, but even at its worst Daredevil is better than all the other comic related shows out there.

And the Choreography in the
last fight between Kingpin and DD
was downright terrible and looked like something straight from the CW, and him
jumping off of the roof in the end
was cringeworthy IMO, so damn bad, with the terrible music on top of it.

Id agree with this. Everything was very "grounded" for the most part-save Matt doing all those flips on the roof chase. I don't even have a problem with the costume like some do-but the slow motion jump punch at the end was off tonally from the rest of the series and ended on a very hammy final shot.
