Can she do real damage, though? When I brought Albert along to fight BSB on NG+, he was hitting BSB for 14 damage. Albert died not because I didn't protect him well enough (okay, he took BSB into a corner, and I just wasn't willing to follow him there...), but because my stamina usage couldn't keep up with the pace of the fight. I have max endurance, and I would burn the entire bar with my Beast Claws. Then I had to watch BSB wail on Albert while my bar filled up. Albert died when BSB was at ~15% health. I'm afraid of having a repeat experience with Eileen. If her ripostes do 100 damage against a beefed up NG+ foe, there will be problems.
Albert barely does any damage even in NG though, he's only useful to distract BSB. Did the trick just fine in NG+, also, I don't think hunters get more HP in NG+, they just seem to do more damage.
Yes, it's a given the secrets will come out (if there are any which haven't been found, which I HIGHLY doubt). How long it takes to find them in a 528-page tome? Who knows
That whole area leading up to it though, that was annoying. Respawning enemies are a complete pain. Spent ages trawling through trying to find and kill
the bell maidens
, but I now have dashing through that area to a fine art.
Also, those enemies which are
basically just a big pile of heads and corpse bits in a box, brrrrrrr. Do not like.
Also made it to the Upper
Cathedral Ward, currently getting my arse handed to me by those werewolf beasts.
So, the current plan:
Kill those 3 hunters in Yarhar'Gul Chapel. I have no issue cheesing them if its possible
Kill The One Reborn
Kill Dark Beast Paarl. You're still on my list buddy!
Get through Upper Cathedral Ward
Kill Martyr Logarius although this one seems like it might be a bit of a nightmare for me so I'll save that until last.
Yep! And you can find a bunch of poison knives, 12 I think, from the Cathedral Ward, one of those glowing items (I forget where, though as I recall it's very easy to find), and it's more than enough since Hunters do not scale in New Game plus.
Also, still asking: what do you folks think the ideal stopgap for Endurance?

Go via the elevator from the Unseen village lamp and jump off about halfway down the elevator, go into the little building and interact with the plate of some sorts in there. It will teleport you to another area, go forward, over the bridge and go down the ladder.

wrapped the game up last night, have to take a break from it for a bit........ my controller cannot take any more bashes against the wall, coffee table and my head.

Speaking of poison knives, I used them on NG+ for a boss that was one shotting me with a particular attack. It's a very easy boss otherwise but that shit was getting out of hand.
Fucking Micolash. In his last phase there's that radial arcane attack that depleted all my health in one hit. So I poisoned the asshole from above. Took me ten knives IIRC.
Don't think I'll be able to defeat amygdala in the chalice dungeon. I can never anticipate where she lands with her jump. Co-op is useless because i get 1-shot from her jump attack.
I was there a couple of days ago and cheesed it this way:
- for its first two phases, I was very conservative and shot it from a safe distance with my Evelyn+9. When I ran out of bullets, I just made blood bullets and Blood Vials essentially acted as more ammo. Bone marrow ash can help obviously. You might want to watch for the couple of times where you can land visceral attacks. As usual, don't overcommit and keep sidestepping while being at a safe range. I found that being at the right range, it almost never used that devastating jump attack. If it does, don't move until it lands, you shouldn't take any damage that way. You'll just have to roll out of range afterwards.
- For that last phase, I meleed it: I positioned myself behind it and went crazy on its ass. What makes being behind it so invaluable is that all of its attack are forward attacks so it won't hit you. Every now and then it will jump but it only jumps forward so you're in no danger, you'll just have to run after it to be on its ass again. I found not locking helped, as with most large enemies when fighting in close quarters.
I secured the first part by grinding a bit to get my bloodtinge to 30 but I'm not sure how necessary that is. That Mergo's Loft Middle spot works wonders to upgrade.
The good news is that the next Chalice bosses are incredibly easier.
I don't think there's actually a player out there capable of defeating that 3 hunters fight the "fair" way--there's always some cheese involved either by going inside the cell to luring them to the lantern area etc etc. I don't think beating them mano a mano with no tricks is possible.
As for the Cathedral Hunter... yea, he's actually way harder than a vast number of bosses in this game, heh.
We're close in levels. I'm currently working on the Great Isz (layer 2 now).... but i also need to get Defiled.
i'd love to coop them all, if you don't mind helping someone else with defiled now that you have it down. And I can obviously help with isz and then we've got one more...

ha, I didn't cheese them myself, tried to avoid any guides... wish I had though as I think my neighbours thought I had gone potty with my swearing outbursts every couple of minutes.
clearing the first area (pre-switch), there were two locked doors at the top of the magic circular elevator. No, problem, I figured they came later. Once you unlock and go through the purple door, there's one new area before the boss. That area lets you unlock one of the two doors by the elevator.
Where the heck do i go to unlock the other door? been running around like a madman looking for where to go.

I rushed out to the street area to try to escape, but they followed. Ended up beating two or three of them anyway by doing the same thing I did to most hunters:
hunter AI usually doesn't respect charged attacks or lengthy hitboxes unless they are programmed to back step after they attack.
I hate how used my fingers are to Dark Souls now. I keep pressing triangle to change the weapon mode and instead heal myself. It was even worse at the start because I sometimes unintentionally hold L1 to block because looking at my transformed ax all I could see is my old halberd from Dark Souls.

The way I see it: that Hunter in the Grand Cathedral, sure he breaks so many rules with his one-hit kills and his overpowered Repeating Pistol with unlimited bullets and that Old Hunter Bone warp moves that he can pull off over and over again *but* it *is* still a one and one fight so there's at least that element of "fairness" in it.
The 3 hunters fight though? Screw that. That's the game reallycrossing the line, hahaha. I don't fault anyone trying to "cheese" them since that is nowhere close of being fair at all, it's preposterous. Screw being fair, since the game throws that notion out of the windows and shit on it anyways, hahaha.

Sure , I'd try to help. I'm really busy with school stuff this week, though (should really be studying right now, too).
You could just add me on psn for now, and I'll message you when we're online at the same time. I think timezones might be an issue though.

Want to know if there's a time limit on how long she'll be layed out by the grand cathedral. I feel like I'm in the last stretch of the game, so I'm wondering if I can take on the hunter inside till the game is over or do I have to do the fight before a certain event.

you can separate them and fight them more regularly, and by that point the game is teaching you that you can't always stand and fight at that point so it's not like you were actually expected to take all three of them at once.
Pthumeru Chalice
Pthumeru Root Chalice
Central Pthumeru Chalice
Central Pthumeru Root Chalice
Lower Pthumeru Chalice
now I'm on
Lower Pthumeru Root Chalice
and its becoming repetitive and kinda boring, tbh.
Have yet to play
Hintertomb, Ailing Loran & Great Isz.
Should I even bother with them any more?
Cost / Benefit ratio seems very negative to me, tbh.
Cost being the time it takes to complete them, blood vials/echoes/bullets cost versus stuff I'll get inside as a benefit.
The Lower Pthumeru difficulty spike was crazy, but I managed to get through it even though
I was soooo pissed to see that fucking Rom in there. God dammit, such a cheap fight.

Not all bosses yeah. And the Cleric Beast can be made staggered into a visceral attack-able position by shooting its head with the pistol (Blunderbuss just don't have the range), but I don't think that counts as the him being countered. Generally speaking the very large enemies just can't be countered at all.

It doesn't, you stagger big enemies for a chance to land a visceral attack by doing a lot of damage, usually to certain parts of their body.
Vicar Emilia(Cleric Beast 2.0) can be staggered once by concentrating on her left leg and another time by concentrating on her right leg. Also, if you're using a large weapon with a nice vertical attack, I think you can stagger her by attacking her head. Cleric Beast can be staggered by spamming bullets at his head with the pistol, even if they barely does any damage, he will fall down after some hits.
a gross brain looking Old One. It's the asshole responsible for all the frenzy attacks at the beginning of the level.
I'm separating this spoiler in case you want to find out by yourself:
You can neutralize it by using a hidden lever that will drop into the abyss where you were.
To reach that lever, you need to take the cage elevator that goes from Mergot's middle down to before Micolash. That cage is broken and at some point during the elevator's descent, you'll see a window, you can roll into it from the elevator.
That will lead into a zone at the end of which is the lever I mentioned.
This in turn will lead to another secret:
Once Mother Brain is at the bottom of the abyss where you were, if you use the "make contact" gesture for 30 seconds, it will give you the last Moon rune that increases gained blood by 15% and stacks with the other two.
This also makes the area where you get the ultimate upgrade material far more approachable.

Gonna PM the glyph to you guys after this message. I´m pretty damn sure that is the one I got all those weapons from. Even if one of them is off, it is a good dungeon nonetheless. Please tell me if everything was as I mentioned.
Learn his animations and use your gun to stun him; if you have it equip the Caryll rune that gives your visceral attacks +20% DMG. I died very often as well, but once you realize his pattern it's quite easy.
Keep a safe distance and always dodge back when he throws his blade(s) (he will use two blades in his second form).

I just rolled behind his back whenever he made a charge at me, and gave a solid one-two from my Ludwig. Another thing that worked is the Ludwig´s R2-charged hit, just used it whenever he was running towards me for a combo.
