Using your supply of numbing mist isn't a very good strategy since he will only heal once. It's better to just carefully whittle him down and let him heal and use up his vial.

Uhhhh... from where did the myth of him only heals once come from? Definitely not in my file where he healed up 2-3 times. I distinctly remember this because I yelled MOTHERFUCKER every time he did it lol.

Without a doubt, Abhorrent Beast has to be the biggest Dickhead boss in the game. Seriously, fuck that guy. So aggressive, runs at you, relentless extremely tough to Melee toe to toe.

Finally done with his ass in the chalices. Time for the final Chalice dungeon.

Probably the hardest boss in the game. Harder than Ebrietas even.

My Eileen died fighting Henry. I died too. Reloaded and he's nowhere to be seen while she left a badge. I was one one hit from beating him but she did all the hard work.

I'll take bloodbornes atm...it has been out a month, it can be fixed...soul memory is still in DaS 2, even in the remaster, they obviously don't think that is broken, even though they keep applying in game bandaid fixes.

Nope I didn't mind SM at all... I was 55 mil SM when I quit playing I loved it because I could level the way I wanted.. Plus having the best thng in the game "respecing" I see everywhere about people wanting to know the meta for PVP.. some say 70 some say 100 some say 120 it's stupid.. It sucks that I have to stop leveling my character just to play pvp.. I'm a one player character and usually love maxing all my stats out..
Even with my high level SM I never once had a problem or had to wait 10 minutes for one battle.. :/. Really don't understand why people hate SM soo much I think it gave player more control/options..

I felt like he was super fair. One of the best fights in the game. Once I got all of his tells down, I felt amazing taking him down without getting hit in the Chalice Dungeon.

Yes I bought that emblem. I think I killed more than three bosses since then. I did get myself killed by some invisible monster in some big room.
Then you are already beyond Oedon Chapel. :-) It is the place with the creepy little guy in a cloak. The warp is called Cathedral Ward. Now you should be looking to travel to Byrgenwerth, assuming you took down all 3 bosses post-Chapel.

Vicar Amelia
Witch...something.
Blood-Starved Beast

yeah Henryk is quite tough, she died at me too :(
This worries me, because Father G and Albert both died when I summoned them in NG+. Does Eileen die easily in NG+? I failed to notice her quest line my first play through. All of the NPCs are made of glass in NG+ and hit for nothing.

I won't lie, it's super hard and he's a real bastard but I still did it.
Really? I thought he was free. I started the fight with a charged R2, switched to the Cannon - POW POW. Dead.

Also, the lines he speaks are completely worth it.

Yeah that fight was fun. Almost had him the first time on that rooftop. Got a little cocky and he got me xD

You can also cheese him through the little doorway there, but it's a doable fight without.

I won't lie, it's super hard and he's a real bastard but I still did it.

Oh I fought him too the first time since I thought
he will kill Iosefka if I send him to her place
(turned out the other way around, lol). The way everything worked out against you in that fight is such bullshit though, particularly the camera urghhhh.

Afterwards on any new character I'd just
send him to the clinic and get him turned into an alien blob, lol.

Ok so I finally switched weapons since all I used was Hunter pistol and Uncanny Saw cleaver but after trying Ludwig's HB and getting used to its move set and finding Evelyn's pistol I fell in love but I think my stats aren't bringing the best out of this 2 weapon selections. My current stats are:

Violent Past currently level 88
VIT:30
END:30
STR:30
SKL:21
BLTNG:15
ARC:12

I really don't know what to do, should I try to get SKL, BLTNG to 25 and ARC to 15? Really need to know how to work this lol I don't know how to do good builds

Don't think I'll be able to defeat amygdala in the chalice dungeon. I can never anticipate where she lands with her jump. Co-op is useless because i get 1-shot from her jump attack.

If you are using Ludwig and Evelyn I don't know why you're bothering with Arcane. Yea Ludwig scales well with it but that is only if you apply buffs and even then the physical damage attack outperforms it.

chalice question --

So i just picked up the Bastards of Loran I need from the Ailing loran chalice. I also got my Hunter's Essence trophy.

questions:
1) am i done here? don't need to clear layer 3 if i have what i came to get, right?
2) i have 9 ritual bloods 5, and from what i can tell i can do either
defiled chalice
or
great isz chalice next

the trophy guide says to do defiled first, but then says you can get lots of great stuff in the great isz chalice (gems for my weapons, specifically).

so should i just do great isz first or is there a reason to do defiled first?

Isz is defintely easier than defiled.
You will need to do defiled.
You can choose either Isz or Lower loran(for 2 red jellies) both are before the last layer boss.
You get 2 more from the story in lecture hall
Need 4 jellies for the last Pthumeran Ihyll Chalice.

Are you going for a PvP build with level cap or a PvE build without a level cap?

For Ludwigs Holy Blade. Go for Skill/Str or ARC. The HB can either do magic dmg or phys. dmg but not both. It scales fantastic with skill and str so you should favour the stat your 2nd weapons scales best with a bit more. But in general you should try to have skill and strength at around the same level for the HB.

If you are going for a PvE build then increase your bloodtinge to 18 if you want to use the Evelyn. For a PvP build with your current stats I am not sure it is worth it.

Also you can stop putting points into endurance and concentrate a bit more on vit from now on.

So umm, how do you save and quit?

I got to the first new lantern/awakening spot, then proceeded to die a shitload of times trying to get further. Returned to Hunter's Dream and bought a new hat. I'm only vaguely, slowly figuring out what the hell I'm supposed to be doing, but it's time to call it a night.

If by super fair you mean jamming on your back dodge button most the fight then sure :P

The room was what bothered me in the Loran version. When locked on you could get backed into a corner if you're not careful and he'll just plow into you and when you're away still hit you with the wind projectile.

They made him to be a bit of a dick, but like you said it was quite satisfying bringing him down. ;)

Option-> System -> Quit Game. It automatically saves.

I felt so bad when, on my first playthrough I sent
Adriana or whatever to Iosefka because I was functioning on the Lovecraft idea that the guy in the Church absolutely can't be trusted, and Iosefka was a better idea even though my gut said I was probably wrong. Man the feeling when I found her as a horrible blob monster and the experiments left behind by Fake Iosefka. I think the guy in the beginning of the game is actually Iosefka, and this person that says they are Iosefka is in fact someone from the Healing Church.

you can cheese him by standing inside the doorway, he is too big to get in.

Yeah, I know. I found out by accident when he knocked me out to the cannonball village area and when I got back to his area he got stuck at the door, lol, asking me to poke him with the Rifle Spear, lol. Pretty funny.

Anyways, on the subject of stat level ups, I am actually always kind of torn about the ideal "hey let's just stop here" point for Endurance. It feels important to have more stamina but at the same time it doesn't feel like it sometimes, so I often wonder: what numbers are you guys aiming for usually for the "stop here" points for Endurance?

Guys is it confirmed that to join a coop with a friend there's a need to be at max 10 lvl difference among the two players joining?

Heh, imagine then what I feel when I sent that little girl... ooops. It's interesting that the Oedon chapel guy is
actually a really nice guy with no hidden intentions or anything like that.

10 levels plus 10% of the level the person doing the beckoning.

ok, so i can do the 'easier' one first, safely? that's really what i wanted to know. if it's easier and has better drops, it's probably the smart way to go.
one related question

according to the guide, i'll eventually need
9 more ritual blood 5s once i use the 9 to make isz. i assume that between isz and defiled, i'll find 9 more?

When she jumps just stand still. Don't move an inch. She never hits you that way.

.
My friend tries to kill him.
His dialogue was really sad.
He really just want to be bro with us

finished defiled before Isz, i have more than 20 Ritual Blood 5 to create Isz(even Converted some to Arcane). pretty sure you can get many in Isz too.
It is drop-able by killing certain enemies.

ok, so i don't need to worry about that stuff, AND i don't have to kill
abhorrent beast in the 3rd layer of ailing loran
. well, that's nice.

EDIT -- nvm, ocd dictatated i kill it anyway. second try worked like a charm. timed r2 attacks from a distance.

Ah Ok, thanks.

I really don't care much for PvP since I hardly invade people so i was looking for a PvE build. I was thinking leveling bloodtinge and SKL up to the soft cap and from there just concentrating on VIT and END, but I may just follow your advice and level up SKL a little bit more to match STR and leave BLTNG at 18

So, um...anyone willing to help with the defiled chalice layer 2 boss? I did the entire game solo but i think ive hit my breaking point...

What level you are? I can help after couple of hours.

I think one of the weirdest things in the game is how you can level up even if you kill the doll.

Don't think I'll be able to defeat amygdala in the chalice dungeon. I can never anticipate where she lands with her jump. Co-op is useless because i get 1-shot from her jump attack.

If she's in her final phase dodging the jump attack is easy, don't move. She jumps away from you.

LV98 but I only have time for the next three hours...
I did get it down to a quarter health just now, maybe I can pull it off after all

Way too low for my character.

Well.................. the fact that the Doll is inactive when you have zero Insight is kind of telling...

Sure but since you can initially level up after she wakes up to me implies that you need her in order to channel the echoes but apparently that isn't the case and player character is just flipping like crazy.

i fought him with a bloodtinge build meaning i had the chikage as well

was so satisfying :P

I kinda took a "middle path" with him I guess. I died a few times to him and when I noticed he would charge me almost every time I got some distance between us I just abused that and parried him. Still got hit a few times but it was still pretty cheese-like. :P

I don't even get why I had so much trouble with him on this second character. On my first I fought him head on and killed him in like 2 tries. >.<

Made a video of it if anyone is interested. The successful run starts at about 8 minutes, forgot to trim it a bit before uploading.

Even if she die easily, you can make sure she survive when she join the fight by staying away and allowing her to do all the fighting, your job will be to interrupt Henryk's attacks with the pistol, just poke him with it every few seconds. Long as he doesn't get a chance to go all out on her, she will have no problem killing him.

I really can't relate to your experience. I actually fought him in a way similar to BSB, but the timing on your up-forward dodges is more sensitive. It definitely took a dozen tries to get him down, but once I got his moveset everything was smooth as butter. It was also a quick fight. I never left his face except for when he decided to leap across the room and I would just say "ok, you do that" - haha. Just walk up into his face and wait for the attack before dodging. Don't back off and be afraid. I think this is how most of the game is best played. I beat him with Beast Claws, so no range abuse going on, either.

That final form had me sweating, though! He just does not leave you alone. Very similar to Papa G part two in that sense, but much more difficult.

Even if she die easily, you can make sure she survive when she join the fight by staying away and allowing her to do all the fighting, you job is whenever Henryk try to attack her, fire at him with the pistol to interrupt his attacks. Long as he doesn't get a chance to go all out on her, she will have no problem killing him.
Can she do real damage, though? When I brought Albert along to fight BSB on NG+, he was hitting BSB for 14 damage. Albert died not because I didn't protect him well enough (okay, he took BSB into a corner, and I just wasn't willing to follow him there...), but because my stamina usage couldn't keep up with the pace of the fight. I have max endurance, and I would burn the entire bar with my Beast Claws. Then I had to watch BSB wail on Albert while my bar filled up. Albert died when BSB was at ~15% health. I'm afraid of having a repeat experience with Eileen. If her ripostes do 100 damage against a beefed up NG+ foe, there will be problems.

Poison knives people... Henryk is weak against it, just chuck him with poison knives and he'll go down easy. Plus you get the extra advantage of not having to close up to the fight and risk accidentally hitting Eileen.

Anyone get their guide yet? Mine shipped Sunday, I'll either get it today (Monday) but more likely Tuesday. :(

I will do this!

Y'all better be posting all kinds of stuff from the guide re: lore and secrets.

Just progressed through Cainhurst and ended up on the boss (which seemed really hard!). Short and sweet area, but how come the guys in the courtyard outside were much harder than anything inside? Really weird.

Edit: looking forward to getting the guide, Amazon gave me Wednesday as an estimate!
