It will not win any Oscars but it looks like a damn fun movie and a true successor we pretty much deserved.
Seemingly not.
Though, some of the audience seems to have forgotten as well... *looks around thread*
That's obviously what they're doing. How much of the story, aside from it having a theme park setting, was in the other movies?
I really like the way the trees are blown back by the explosion.
It doesn't just have to be in Jurassic Park movies for it to be old hat. Creating something new that fucks you up is an old as hell concept. The original was great because the dinos had little do with the chaos, it was all because of man. Unless we found out the IRex was hired by Nedry's old group to take down the park, this just feels like a bog standard disaster flick, or King Kong mixed with JP3.

i love that u can see the rex on the camera (right side) of the phone. nice detail.
Okay if (and I understand it's an if right now) they actually make it so that Darth Dinosaur can actually use its genetic force powers to influence and command all other prehistoric animals somehow, then this will not only surpass Serial Killer Spino and Genius Planner Raptors from III; it'll surpass the orca from Orca purposefully blowing up a town with a gas explosion out of revenge; it'll surpass the latter Jaws movie's implications that the giant killer sharks have a psychic/magical communication network that they use to get revenge for their brethren by following a specific family around the world and fucking with them with traps and shit.
You don't get to decide what people liked about the other movies.
I'm just saying that the footage I've seen from this doesn't look like the same thing I've seen in the other movies. In fact some people are right here criticizing that it doesn't look like "Jurassic Park."
I predict that even when it's supposed to be dark and tense everything will be over lit and fake in that modern Hollywood way that all big budget movies are nowadays. What a bunch of shit.I'm worried that there isn't going to be very many dark scenes in this film. My favorite part in JP movies is when it's dark, rainy, and people are alone trying to survive. It's so tense seeing them in that environment, trying to avoid predators.

Well technically, it literally doesn't just because of the color grade, so those claims have merit...Visually it's been compared to Bay and others because it has no identity of its own.
I'm specifically referring to people implying that the wonder and greatness of the first film was simply due to having Dinosaurs on screen.
There was a lot more to like about Jurassic Park than good animatronics and decent CGI.

Yeah exactly. The movies aesthetic has been Michael bay'd , ugh.Well technically, it literally doesn't just because of the color grade, so those claims have merit. And as I just pointed out, the movie has a very different tone, although similar, where the first 3 focused on man's inherent ability to fuck himself over in even the most dire situations for self, this just feels more like a man's hubris catch all in the form of Frankenstein. Visually it's been compared to Bay and others because it has no identity of its own.
Got love movie side of GAF talk, calls films with shitty dialogue and acting while talk about how awesome Furious 7 is, a film that is masterpiece of shitty dialogue and acting with extra sprinkle of shit plot. That film is trying be serious so don't use the shitty excuse it not trying be a serious film
eh still not sure on this but I'm still baffled some people don't understand the whole public getting bored of dinosaurs so they create a new attraction plot

I'm pretty sure most of this big action stuff is the middle section of the movie, and that it gets more like what you're describing after the island security force is taken out.
I think the idea is to show how formidable and scary it is before thrusting the main characters into these scenarios.
Huh, the scenes and CGI actually look better with the Tumblr over-saturation/over-contrast.
These kids do not inspire confidence. I mean, kid actors usually aren't very good, but at least the ones in the original were decent. Some of the reaction shots I've seen from these new kids though. Man...
The I-Rex was literally created by man, fueled by man's desire for more (money, spectacle, whatever).
I just realised this is being finished in 4k. Should look pretty amazing once the first 4K discs hit!
Not seeing how it's better or worse than Tim or Lex. Or especially Kelly. Fuck. They look fine to me. Ty Simpkins has been good in everything I've seen him in. Plucking out actor expressions in trailer shots can usually yield this sort of thing due to lack of context, scenario and atmosphere.
But sometimes you can just kind of tell. Not saying they're going to be terrible, but they just don't inspire confidense. My reply wasn't in reference to that shot you quoted in particular though.
I edited with a still from the original with Joseph Mazzello. But okay, your feelings and opinion is fine. I'm just saying I don't see how they're better or worse personally.
Don't know if anyone mentioned it already but I like that the scientist from one is back.
It does look better than the one you qouted earlier though![]()
I'm sure I saw a theory that Claire is leading the T-Rex with the flare, ala Ian Malcolm in the original, leading it to the I-Rex potentially?I think these are the Rex's feet behind Claire:

Yeah, and he comes across just as much of a "we can do THIS now" moron as he does in the original.

I doubt the "real" Henry Wu would ever agree to genetic manipulation to this extent.
