Too many vitamins can give you CANCER

As far as Im concerned everything gives you cancer. So you can either live in fear of your own shadow or go on living your life and not worry about things like this.

Everything in moderation obviously.

I don't take vitamins, just eat a good diet with fruits etc. Overloading your body on anything is bad. Go to a Doctor, if they say you have low X then take steps to fix it, but don't just 'multi vitamin' your way through it.

lol, science studies....

Everything in moderation? Everything? That seems a little extreme. Why not some things in moderation? Take the things you're doing in moderation in moderation!

I think it's been pretty well established that unless you have doctor recognized vitamin deficiency that supplementing your diet with vitamins is worthless and potentially dangerous.

"This is not to say that people need to be afraid of taking vitamins and minerals. If taken at the correct dosage multivitamins can be good for you."

Too much of something is unhealthy.

News at 11.

What the heck even IS a vitamin?

An organic compound that your cells require and can not synthesis enough quantities, so you get it from your diet.

edit: everything in a sense can help you cancer. Well vitamins are require for normal cell growth and what is cancer? Abnormal cell growth.

Of course, everything, im not sure what can be taken in excess and be healthy: alcohol, drugs, food, sex, medicine, excercise, water, love, videogames, studies, partying, etc.

also some things are healthier than others, so moderation can be relative, but never on excess.

Vitamin pills? Obviously. They are manufactured. Your cells are probably like "wtf" when you eat that shit and go absolutely ballistic.

Getting vitamins naturally from food is the way to go.

This has been known for awhile, although I was under the impression further studies really need to be done.

Ugh get this natrualist fallacy bullshit out of here.

Ah, but apparently the set of things which you should take in moderation is, itself, not to be taken in moderation. Given that, by the original argument, it contains all things. So, when it comes to choosing which things you should take in moderation, you should choose everything, without moderation! Laid out more rigorously, the claim is that when it comes to any action A, one should choose to do this action in moderation, always! However, choosing to do an action in moderation is itself an action contained in the set A! Therefore, it too should be something that is done in moderation. But then it cannot be done always! If doing something in moderation implies a limit on how much you do that action, then to do all things in moderation is to apply this "Call for moderation" without limit! And therefore, without moderation! Therefore, the original statement is untrue, as proved by contradiction.

QED, sir!

I swear I saw recently some other news report about vitamins doing absolutely nothing beneficial for you (not reducing risks for things they were said to, improving others, etc.). So cancer-causing and useless? Knew my laziness would be a win for me in the end!

Article is really misleading with its presentation of the study.

Taking extra vitamins “does more harm than good” and increases the risk of cancer and heart disease, a major study has revealed.

Around 18 million Brits down supplements thinking they are getting a health boost, but research has found they can have the opposite effect.

Dr Byers said: “We are not sure why this is happening(really?) but evidence shows that people who take more dietary supplements than needed tend to have a higher risk of developing cancer.

“We found that the supplements were actually not beneficial for their health. In fact, some people actually got more cancer while on the vitamins.”

Then buried in the middle.

He said: “This is not to say that people need to be afraid of taking vitamins and minerals. If taken at the correct dosage multivitamins can be good for you.

smh.

I always feel like they should only be taken if you have deficiency or needs temporary boost, not really meant for long term. Eating properly should be the first priority.
