In the Dark Knight Returns its a very long grappling hook.

That doesn't mean it isn't mostly Superman's story, rather, his answer makes it clear he doesn't want the scope of the film to be limited to Superman and exclude Batman, Justice League, or DCCU fans.

Put another way, it's like the debate as to whether Kingdom Come is a Superman story or not.
Yeah, kind of what I thought he meant
But sure people will run with, I told you it's not a Superman movie!

Man, I'm still bummed that Armie Hammer's career was kind of stunted by Lone Ranger. Seems like a cool dude.

To think at one point, he was Batman!

That car is no good for normal let alone narrow roads!

"Practical" has rarely ever been an appropriate word to describe most incarnations of the Batmobile, both in the comics and on film.

I'm actually surprised it's an aspect of the character that managed to survive beyond the Silver Age. This is a guy who's all about striking from the shadows when you least expect it - you'd think driving around in a glaringly obvious car that screams HI I'M BATMAN PLEASE TRY TO KILL ME would be at odds with his usual "creature of the night" methodology.

If anything, the Batplane/jet makes more sense to me than the car does. *shrug*

Has it been discussed why Supes isn't speed rushing him here and actually running? Maybe a bit depowered at this point? Hopefully not Kryptonite induced.

Speaing of this, I re-watched Man of Steel yesterday and Superman never zero shifts like Faora does.

To be fair, Superman doesn't have any formal training.

Zod and his crew are military trained so probably do a lot of stuff Superman wouldn't since not in his nature

I mean he is pretty ground and pound

Joss Whedon Is Adorably Pumped For Batman v Superman

He may have just directed the biggest superhero movie ever, but ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ director Joss Whedon seems to be just as excited about 2016′s ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ as he his about his own film.

When asked whether he’d watched the first trailer for ‘BvS’ that was released over the weekend, and he confirmed he had.

“I found [the trailer for ‘Batman v Superman’] interesting,” he tells Yahoo Movies in our interview above, “Because they’re bringing up a lot of issues that we bring up in ‘Age of Ultron’ and I think it’s inevitable.”

“People with power, who are good, do not always agree and it makes perfect sense for me that [Batman and Superman] would fight. And besides… Batman and Superman are gonna fight! I’m so excited! I’m so excited!”

We put the same question to Captain America and Hawkeye actors Chris Evans and Jeremy Renner, but they hadn’t seen the ‘Dawn of Justice’ teaser yet.

However, they did have plenty to say about Superman and his seemingly unlimited powers.

“How does anyone fight Superman?” asks Evans.

“I feel like [Superman] would bulldoze our whole squad, they really wrote him unfairly. It’s not fair, he’s got too much.” finished Evans.

Haha those are some pretty funny comments. :P

I just realized that if they had gone in a more traditional direction with Aquaman, Armie Hammer would have been a great alternative choice.

But I'm still excited to see where they go with Momoa and the polynesian influence on Atlantis.

Speaing of this, I re-watched Man of Steel yesterday and Superman never zero shifts like Faora does.

I'm still undecided. What you think was better MoS or Superman Returns? Ha. I just rewatched the both of them and I think maybe MoS gets the edge for entertainment value.

Whedon's excitement for Batman/Superman deserves its own thread for the sole purpose of showing how some people will still find lines in the sand to draw.

Like you said, MoS is entertaining to watch, despite all its issues. Returns is a bore.

The bolded is what I'm most interested in seeing. Whedon said in another interview that much of AoU is dealing with the destruction in Avengers (and I'm assuming in the Marvel movies since then like Thor TDW and Winter Soldier) and how the world reacts to having all these heroes around and fighting threats beyond those mortal men can handle seemingly unchecked. The same themes BvS plans to address, as Whedon says here.

I'm curious how fans will react. The MCU is often lauded for celebrating the heroics of the Avengers, but if AoU starts saying "yes a lot of innocent people get hurt or die when the Avengers fight these villains and yes a lot of people in-universe really aren't cool with that or the Avengers themselves," I wonder how folks will respond to the sudden shot of cynicism this world will receive. Cause honestly, much of the collateral damage in these movies kind of gets swept aside or downplayed

I hated Returns. Hated it.

I actually tried to rewatch it recently after having not seen it in probably five years or so. I barely made it halfway through. The dialogue is just...blech. Which is shocking because Mike Dougherty and Dan Harris did a fantastic job with X-Men 2. It's a beautiful movie, Singer worked wonders with those $6000-a-day RED cameras at a time when people were still trying to figure out shooting a film digitally.

The plane sequence still holds up and Spacey is having a grand ol' time chewing the scenery, but nearly everything else just seems to fall apart.

I was so damn hyped for Returns though. Anybody else post on the (now defunct) BlueTights.net forums? That place was hype-central.

I recently went thru the official thread for Superman Returns and the impressions on here were universally positive. Like I could not believe it. People were calling it the best Superman movie ever and better than Batman Begins. If you have time to waste you should check it out. It is really eye opening.
