Destiny House of Wolves Reveal Thread

That's great for you, but that's not the case for a lot of people (including me). Even with a decent amount of DGAF on my friends list, I often only have about an hour/hour and a half during a very specific amount of time and I don't have time to wait/organize people for half an hour if I want to get any real amount of game time in.

The point was about finding people on X1. That they dont met your requirements is something different,

Fapulous.

Probably gonna skip this DLC, although the pvp mode looks awesome I dont have a static team to play with anymore.

AH my mistake I forgot there was another PvE mode in the dlc, so there is more in the package then just this and maps.

Until next week.

What the heck? Are we not going to see the new Crucible maps?

They are on the list to be revealed today. Just perhaps not on the live stream.

Yeah, for me Prison of Elders, strike(s), story missons/quests/bounties/loot are what this DLC is about. And the new maps will be put into the rotation of other Crucible modes as well.

How is finding people in a reasonable amount of time not relevant to finding people? If the point you wanted to make is that you can easily find people eventually given an infinite amount of time then fair enough.

Are they still going to have a "celebrity" guest for next week's stream? Please don't tell me that Professor Broman counts as a celebrity.

here's a quick summary of what i've gathered

  • 3v3 elimination gametype
  • level advantages enabled
  • first team to 5 rounds wins
  • no respawns; only revives (or sunsinger rezzes)
  • one map per week on rotation
  • one round of heavy ammo after one team has won 3 rounds
  • rounds last 2 minutes
  • a capture point will spawn in the middle of the map in "overtime" after 2 minutes. whoever caps it wins
  • will not matchmaking teammates. need premade team to match against other premade teams
  • players matched based on connection instead of skill
  • you match a different team after every match
  • quitting counts as a loss
  • you can cash in rewards after different amount of wins
  • 3 losses and you need to buy a new passage to enter again. there's no caps on how many passages you can buy
  • you can "forgive losses" or "add wins", but the coins required to do so are rare and drop from other activities
  • event lasts from friday to tuesday reset

Going after the COD audience? This is search and destroy with revives. There's even a medal called the ace for killing the entire team yourself.

There's no objective other than eliminate the enemy team. Not to mention Call of Duty didn't invent the idea of elimination game modes.

Ultimately it sounds fun, even if a little underwhelming. I just can't shake the feeling this should have been a Crucible mode from the get go (probably was supposed to be). Going to have to find some DGAF that are actually in to crucible now.

uhm, wasn't this supposed to start now? Is it already over? Wtf?

It started at 11 Pacific time, which was one hour ago.

The timing of the Trials is pretty smart. The weekly reset is currently an orgy of weekly strikes and raids. Come the weekend, Trials gets tossed into the mix, ending at the reset. The cadence will help with community cohesion, and offer more to do on the weekends for those who don't play much during the week.

I don't really understand this point, but on the basis of what they've shown so far, it's not the case (at least cosmetically).

To come back to this, I'll just say my concern is not over the looks of weapons, but the perks and abilities.

The upgrades plus the whole weapon reforging thing kind of indicates that Bungie is washing their hands on weapon design after so many of the CE weapons were hated and panned. "You don't like what we come up with? Fine, whatever....just re-roll your gear, or upgrade your old stuff."

I want new weapons with cool new perks. I am aghast that we have gone two streams now and most of the new gear has all the same types of perks.

YESSSSSSS ragequitting = loss, thank you Bungie

I don't think this REALLY makes a difference though, what they need is more incentive to keep you there even if you lose. If someone feels they are going to lose anyway and are in a rage they will most likely take the rage quit due to their foggy judgement. There's nothing there to convince you to stick around like in IB.

Biggest news of today for me right there. Crucible will give double marks with HoW.
Nice, that addresses some of the complaints from earlier today. Double marks and engrams

Yes but think about this in conjunction with the requirement that you have a 3 man team premade. If the entire other team rage quits, the good team wins and the leaving team gets the L. Perfect.

If it makes you feel better, all of the PS Exclusive stuff except for Hawkmoon and Monte Carlo has been crap.

The exclusive pvp map looked rather fun, but it's ok xbox owners just get stuck with firebase delphi back to back in matchmaking which is one of the worst maps in the game, and it keeps appearing!

That's not how I interpret it. I think it fits more in with how House of Wolves is going to greatly reduce the grind of the endgame.

  • Weapons and armor start out at max damage and defense, those perk bubbles are removed.
  • Collect Weapon and Armor Cores in the Prison of Elders and redeem for gear - not reliant on RNGesus for that one item.
  • Materials required for weapon and armor upgrades are greatly reduced.
  • Conversion of materials from one to another reduces the need to grind for one particular type
  • Allowing the upgrading of old weapons and gear (with no reset) means you don't have to grind for new stuff to access the endgame content.
  • Land a great scout rifle with a crap set of perks? Re-roll it until you get perks you like. The loot you score from RNGesus is more useful now.
I got a not so hot scout rifle from the Nightfall last night I'd put it in rotation if the perks didn't suck. :\

This is true. A lot of rage quitters do so because there's no point in sticking around a losing match. If you get a loss for leaving, who cares? You were going to (or at least convinced you were going to) lose anyway. Rage quitting just means you can start the next match faster. This is exactly why they introduced the medallions in IB. Hopefully there's either something like that, or a stiffer penalty (like how MOBAs lock you out for a certain amount of time which effectively nulls trying to start a new match sooner).

True. Though this is going to make LFG site made teams pretty annoying for any team that gets stuck with a rage quitter.

Same thing happens on PS4. I don't know why the game loves that map so much.

The Trials looks pretty cool, a lot more tactical and slower paced than normal PVP which I like. Hopefully it'll create a Search and Destroy vibe.

Dat Titan armor!

Bungie looks like they really killed it with this expansion.

Trials of Osiris Twitch starts in 3 minutes!

I actually really enjoy the two extra strikes.

I wish they were in all versions so they'd go into weekly/nightfall rotation, though.
