For how much they talk about THIS CITY, they did a pretty poor job making the audience care about it. It seems like pretty much everyone is corrupt and bought-off.

They really could have used more lawyerin' stories to help flesh out the "common man" and why it was worth helping anyone. All we really got was the "one good cop" and the surly bartender.

Yeah, the city didn't really have any character to it at all. The only time they made it feel like a normal place was during the the first Fisk flashback. After that, it was just a shithole with a dive bar.

All these superhero shows are obsessesd with their CITY. " You have FAILED your CITY."

Lots of civic and patriotic supes, I guess. Hells Kitched is basically just a bit of the Village in NYC, which is fucking super rich, super nice, quite hipster, clean and safe.

So I don't know what Daredevil is fighing for? Hipsters with rich parents?

Also, this show.... I dunno. Its pretty cool, but perhaps I didn't watch it all, properly or I was expecting a different tone. Perhaps its because Foggy kinda sucks. Still, cool show. I think they could;ve been more brutal and gory though, and with more humor. Also, seriously, Foggy is the best they could do?

The old daredevil movie trailer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LmP3YFk_YHA

So fuckin cheesy lol

Anyway count me in with those that say black mask was the GOAT. Wish the actual daredevil suit was more like an armored version of the black mask instead of these corny looking suit.

Loved the series though. Some of the best fight scenes I have ever seen. And I think its because they allow the character to get beat up a little too.

I also thought the THIS CITY angle needed to be expanded upon. Give us a reason to care. Elena was the closest to making that happen. Also Hell's Kitchen is very small in the grand NYC. Even Manhattan. Just kinda weird how they are devoted to a small neighborhood in one borough.

Just finished the first season. Really boring when it's not actiony, took way too long to get his suit, and very unsatisfactory finale.

Not looking forward to season 2.

Hell's Kitchen wasn't always gentrified. Daredevil and Hell's Kitchen are linked, it's like Batman and Gotham City.

The reason why it was called Hells Kitchen in the first place was because it used to be a shit hole with abandoned warehouses, burnt down buildings, drugs and prostitutes as recently as the 80s. Giuliani cleaned the place up and Bloomberg made it the hipster friendly place it is today.

Just finished the show. I never read the comics or knew much about the character/story.

Some thoughts:

The fights were horribly choreographed and boring. Daredevils unnecessary acrobatics just makes me shake my head. I would have prefer more restraint and use power and weight instead of the constant ninja movies. It felt like I viewed some bad western martial arts movie from the nineties but without any of the nostalgic charm.

Sick and tired of orange/blue lighting. Wish they'd gone for something more naturalistic.

The suit was just horrible. Reminded me of pre nolan batman movies.

Matt comes off as a douche to me. Nothing particularly likable about him, I don't feel like I care about what happens to him.

The whole thing felt cheap and by the numbers.

A solid 5/10 for me.

I was sad when Ben died, but I was probably more upset/annoyed that they killed Wesley.. haha. I thought he was an interesting character and wanted to know more about his friendship with Fisk.

what sold it for me was when kingpin finds him and he sits down next to him and just holds his hand

I got no problems with this "vulnerable" fisk that becomes the real kingpin after his monologue in the finale

Daredevil is a much better character than Batman. Joss is wrong.

A lot of people don't seem to notice that Wesley had just kidnapped and pointed a gun at her. Karen didn't grow to like him over a number of episodes, he was just another guy that wanted to do her harm. She saw her shot, and she took it (zing).

I can't really blame her for that, even though I did like Wesley.

Wesley was going to kill her if she refused the proposal, the gun was loaded. She did the correct thing man. Youre going to tell me if you were in that situation, you wouldnt pull the trigger? Lets say she hadnt, and she took the gun and ran off, fisk/wesley would have came after her regardless.

Plus, if wesley lived, he would have informed fisk that she was present with urich

Oh, I'm totally on Karen's side. It makes sense for her character, it makes sense for the plot. A lot of people seem to now hate her for killing the guy, but I don't have a problem with it in the slightest.

On Ep 9...

It's pretty good but not some GOAT-tier show...

A problem with the Ep 2 fight being such a highlight is every fight after it feels just like a fight. None have that unique special feel to it...I like most of the characterization in it though, and yeah, I feel like the guy who plays Fisk plays his character in the most interesting way but I don't really feel like there's any particular slouch in this regard.

There's no point in comparing it to The Flash because even under the "superhero" umbrella they're practically two different genres. Solid 8/10 so far.

I honestly hated to see wesley get killed, he couldve grown as a character imo.

I thought punisher was more of marvels batman. Except one that was basically insane

Just finished Season 1 today. Really enjoyed it overall, although final action scene i didn't like due to daredevil not using his weapons till later and can in most situations take out like 6 guys with guns, yet he gets destroyed by fat guy in suit until the end.

What in the fuuuuck how could they
kill off Ben Urich this quickly in the MCU?
Goddamn, what a disappointment. I get why in the context of this story but jeez, that bummed me out.

Well, damn spoilers, I guess, for the end. I haven't finished yet but trying to read through older parts and most people were around Ep 4
When I read this. Oh well.

So warning for end episodes I suppose.

Seriously? More than Daredevil?

Obviously I'm Black Panther bias, but imo T'Challa should hold that mantel. But, most comic fans don't identify with him. Oh well.

Til BP is done right Daredevil is Marvel's Batman. Stories, villains, lack of super powers, best antagonist (he shares Kingpin with Spidey).

Just finished good show
Ioved the King Pin, I thought he played a great villain

Couple things, Foggy was cool until he acted like a baby finding out his friend was Daredevil
Matt and Foggy assistant Karen was annoying she is gonna get everybody killed

The dude played a great daredevil too, he is similar to batman but gets his butt kicked a lot more lol

Edit nvm I got one more eps lol thought it was only 12
Good thing I didnt read thru the thread yet lol

Ben dying was unexpected as hell.

aww man really?! my brother and i saw it coming from a mile away when he went something like "im gonna finally print that story" or something like that.

also whats up with the way Fisk talks? is it that the actor actually talks like that or did they tell him not to only talk super slow, but to pause every now and then? i hate when he opens his mouth, takes years for him to finish his damn lines. also he was pretty childish imo. "YOU HURT HER, YOU HER VANESSA!!" I hope they don't bring him back for season 2, save him for season 3 or later.

I'll tell you whos death really surprised me, Fisk's right hand man. i honestly didn't think that not only karen would take the gun, but that she would pull the trigger if she did get it. Dude had an excellent poker face, too bad for him that she called his bluff.

also not a fan of his costume, the black outfit was dope, but i knew it wouldn't last forever.

I liked Fisk. He is uncomfortable speaking to people, I guess that is why his lines are delivered that way. He was unsettling. It felt like he was going to explode all the time.

This is the most I've enjoyed any live action super hero thing. It could have used more Claire (Rosario Dawson) though.

Alright, finally finished! Damn good show, can't wait for season 2. Final thoughts:

1. I'm surprised they killed off Ben Urich. Thought that'd be an obvious tie-in to Spider-Man but there you go

2. Daredevil fucking loves his spinning jump kicks. Loves them.

3. Fisk is the best villain to come out of the MCU, though the television format provides way more time for development than movies do

4. That last episode was the most Batman Begins thing I've ever seen. It even had the exact same musical and visual cues. It's kinda shameless

5. Speaking of Batman, when DD was telling the guy to make his costume "a symbol" I rolled my eyes pretty goddamn hard.

6. I've decided. The costume is dumb. They should change it for The Defenders/S2

Wow! I can't believe all the hate for fucking Vincent D'Onofrio!

The dude is a genius actor. He was Thor and Pvt. Gomer Pyle for christ sakes!
