Playtonic unveils Yooka-Laylee (Banjo Kazooie successor) [Kickstarter LIVE - Funded]

Banjo-Tooie and DK64 were my childhood. In my teenage days I finally played Banjo-Kazooie and the SNES DKC trilogy, and they were amazing.

I'm backing this!

Also if somehow any of you 3D Platformer fans havn't heard of A Hat in Time yet, you better check that out as well.

Just think if this takes off kids now may grow up with Yooka and Laylee like how I grew up with Banjo-Kazooie and Donkey Kong :-)

Its a beautiful thing

Incredible how fast this got funded and it's blowing right past several of the stretch goals.

I'll throw my money in for the digital deluxe & demo bundle later today.

Have any of the devs spoke about the chances of a vita/3ds stretch goal?

They haven't said but Grant Kirkhope said they were trying to figure out more stretch goals, because 1mil seems in reach now. Handheld versions could be a possibility after 1 mil if they add more goals.

oh fuck

I want to play through BK and BT again right now, but I would ideally want to play the 360 versions...and I have no 360. Could get a slim 4gb for £34 from CEX after trading in a game or two...hm

If I recall correctly there's still a number of the original team still at Rare. It's really unfair to them when people make those snide comments.

Right? :/

The ones that count are the ones that escaped.

If only the rest could escape too. Maybe they like making avatars for the Xbox One.

Who is still left at Microsoft from the original Rare?

That's such a rude thing to say, "the ones that count escaped"...

Not sure if this is the up-to-date post I was looking for: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=112577809&postcount=203

I just did some very unscientific testing and it seems to be averaging about 1 pledge per second.

At this rate it could be nearly at 100,000 backers by this time tomorrow. Can we reach a million backers in 45 days? Probably impossible, but dammit, I'm a dreamer...

I don't think they're going to get £550k in the next 4 hours lol.

Will pledge for boxed once they confirm both phys/ddl are drm-free

---edit

Oh, they only need £220k, kirky stretchgoal is in ameridollars

Sorry guys. I didn't know so many people were still left with Microsoft. Let's just say I'm still disappointed about Nuts & Bolts. To make it up to you I'll pledge $300,000 to push it over a million.

Does anyone have $300,000 I can borrow?

No chance for 3DS based on the engine they are using alone.

Just looking at the demo footage they have, there's no way this is working on the 3DS or n3DS. Vita would probably be a tight squeeze as well.

Ah well i dont have a 3DS so i didnt really know what its capable of, but based on previous vita games it doesnt look out of its reach at all- might not be worth the effort financially though of course.

Thanks, shouldnt be too long till it hits 1mill and we find out.

What are they currently working on at Microsoft?

Because it couldn't be nearly as cool as this.

Are they the only ones left there?
They're the only ones left from the Kazooie/Tooie team as far as I know, but that team wasn't that big to begin with.

We don't know what Rare is currently working on, but it's supposedly something that will make fans of Rare happy.

This is what it's currently trending towards. Of course it's not going to be that much in the end because it will slow down. They will easily hit all their stretch goals though.

It would be amazing to see player skins for each of the different versions kind of like Shovel Knight is doing with those boss battles. DK and Diddy on Wii U, Banjo and Kazooie on Xbox, and Kratos and miniature Kratos on PS4.

Well, Playtonic is certainly making fans of Rare happy.

Problem is I don't have, nor will I ever get, an Xbox One. So if they do something awesome, it had better be on PC too. :(

Even more key members were still at Rare when Nuts & Bolts happened. It's a good game too, just not what the old fans wanted it to be.

And even if you donate $300,000 dollars, you're still a bit away from a million pounds ;b

Not if it's being created by whatever's left of Rare at Microsoft right now.

The people who count are the ones making this game. It will be the Banjo-Threeie we deserve. Someone will create a mod that replaces all the character and object models with Banjo-Kazooie assets and it'll be like Banjo never died.

Another ignorant statement, sure these guys are good at what they do and made the previous games what they are. However, your statement is basically insinuating that new/current team at Rare cannot be as creative/good as the original...is just not true.

Anyway - thought it would be nice to just mention Banjo as this is paying homage, not as an opening jab to bash Rare.

Can we stop talking about Rare and stop being disrespectful to current employees? My god, What point does that serve here?

Be happy this amazing game got kickstarted in 40 minutes and discuss THIS GAME
