Playtonic unveils Yooka-Laylee (Banjo Kazooie successor) [Kickstarter LIVE - Funded]

They freaking did it. I'm so incredibly happy seeing that a concept like this can find so much love.

The gang is back together. I hope they have as much fun as they used to have in the old Rare days.

I'd love to see more of this. Veteran devs going back to do the things they and their fans loved, serving an audience completely ignored by AAA publishers.

Can you guys imagine if MS actually announces a Banjo-Threeie (like rumors suggest) and both of them come out the same year? My tears will be bottled on that day.

Pls, my heart can't handle this.

The fact that the guys at Rare and Playtonic seem like good friends still and are happy for each other means we might see a crossover or some homages in each games...

:O

My hype.

I wouldn't be any more excited lol. BK4 will probably be terrible, all the talented people are gone.

Get ready for a soundtrack full of remixes of old BK songs (again) with some forgettable new ones

Holy shit we are already almost to stretch goal number 4.

You hear that publishers?! These games are dead. No one wants 3D platformers anymore or couch co-op.

Yep, backed the digital deluxe tier. DK64 on Wii U Virtual Console made me hyped again for the old N64-style-platformers, so this came in with perfect timing.
Expecting some serious collectathon hours! :D

If they can get some publisher (NOT one of the console makers!) for a physical release, then i'm up for that, too!

How do you know?

You know that key members behind the Banjo-Kazooie games are still working there, right? Plus other talented people that worked on Kameo, Conker and Viva Pinata.

Just saw this in the comment section on Playtonic's site, thought it was pretty cool!

Clearly he doesn't know.

2 traditional platformers > 1.

Please let BK3 be real as well.

I hope the local co-op thing will work with SharePlay on PS4 so I can play it online with a friend, that'd be really neat. Or a online co-op mode stretch goal. :)

Which members are still working there? Every time Rare is brought up, people usually say that all of the guys who made "good" games are gone.

Backed at $15. Would have put in more, but I have a lot of expenses atm. Maybe up my pledge before this thing ends.

I wouldn't go as far as saying that - There is still some good talent at Rare and also people come and go - just because a decent amount of old Rare veterans left doesn't mean that Rare hasn't recruited good talent.

I don't understand this - but that discussion is for another thread.

I know because they haven't made a decent game since all of those people left lol, and even NnB which was a good game in principle was brought down by the terrible pandering nostalgic elements.

And it's like he thinks they only ever hire untalented people these days too.

Do you have faith in Playtonic?

4/6 of the Rare veterans at Playtonic still worked at Rare at the beginning of 2014 which means that they worked on the games that you didn't like.

GET ME MY GODDAMNED MINECARTS YEEE BUDDY

Much as I would love to blow $535 for an N64 cartridge, I think I'll have to settle for this digitally on Wii U.

Damn this feels amazing.
