Took a stab at adjusting the mask so it looked more like the comic DD outfit. Don't know if I like it better or not. I get why he has the nose guard in the show, to help prevent his nose from getting broken in every fight, but I kinda like it without it.

Last one on the bottom right. That is more like it.

I was actually thinking about this the other day. But now that I've seen it, I actually prefer the nose guard being there, although I think it should be adjusted somehow. Thank you for doing this, by the way. That's really cool of you.

I'm overall really impressed with the costume. I'm sure it will be modified for next season just like pretty much every superhero costume is between movies

Holy fuck, is the spanish shit in this series, I want to tear apart my ears when people that are supposed to be native speakers talk like a gringo asking a tequila in texas. Totally ruins it for me .

Matt has money. Foggy is a leech.

Other way around. Foggy's family is loaded. You don't think growing up as the son of a failed boxer and then as an orphan gave him a ton of earning potential, eh? They didn't get into it in the show, but I imagine they'll touch on it in season 2.

I assumed Matt had enough money to live with some comfort, thanks to his dad.

Foggy comes from a rich family in the comics. I didn't get that impression in the show, but his financial situation hasn't really been brought up in detail anyway.

Yeah, not even Mrs Cardenas had a convincing Spanish. They could have hired an actual native speaker.
I wonder if it's the same for the Russians/Chinese/Japanese. I don't speak those languages, so I can't tell.

Daddy Murdock won a lot of money on that final bet. So as long as the show remains quiet, we don't know where the money is coming from.

I'd imagine whatever winnings Jack made would be near cleared out after college and law school

Yeah, the spanish is so shit that it makes me wonder if the russians are talking like shit too, maybe lady Gao talks all fucked up too.

No wonder I could actually understand what they were saying, heh.

Gao's Japanese was definitely fucked up, couldn't tell with her Chinese
Everything Fisk said in another language was atrocious

just finished this, dang the show was pretty good.

Wasn't expecting it to be so gruesome, but I like how they did it.

Also I don't think the chinese was bad. Lady Gao spoke it alright and even Fisk kinda did. Sounds like he was really trying to get his pronunciation right.

Just wondering, did all the people who said they'd see the show and wait for the suit to be revealed in the end, actually make it till the end without the suit being spoilt for them?

I think that's nearly impossible, Netflix had pics of the suit on the site in the same week the show was up.

Finished the series very recently and thought there were some major pacing issues during the second half of the show. Starting at "Nelson vs. Murdoch" the show really loses control with some really bad dialogue, loss of focus, and a very quick climb to a very short climax.

The growth of Matt as a character was great in the beginning, but after the encounter with the Russians, it becomes clear that Daredevil came second in development to Fisk. The action is great, but wouldn't somebody who is smart enough to be a lawyer do a better job of covering their tracks?

Fisk's fall from "the top" is a slow burn. Using Vanessa as a catalyst for exposing his weakness wasn't really in character. The only time I felt Fisk felt like the Kingpin was during the last episode after he was arrested. He stayed cool, spoke with a real threatening tone, and his escape seemed impressive. It's a shame that the character was an emotional mess the rest of the time.

I look forward to season 2. I hope they keep the tone dark and get to really highlight DD's combat abilities instead of just flips and quick cuts.

On that note... The fight choreography falls flat after the 4th or 5th episode. The faux one take shoot in episode 2 was incredible and nothing else in the series had as much polish.

Anyway, on to season 2. Don't give us bullseye right away, either. Build up the encounter.

Is Bullseye the confirmed baddie of S2?

I'm not super familiar with DD's gallery of rogues (There's Fisk, Bullseye and... Stiltman, I guess?), but it seems like setting Kingpin up as the villain of the first season doesn't leave the show anywhere to go but down in terms of threat levels. I kind of wish Kingpin had been in the background for a few seasons rather than episodes before taking center stage.

It makes sense for Karen since she only knows Spanish from high school.

Prior to seeing a bit of it in the episode select page in Netflix, I never saw the entire thing until the end of the series.

I was pretty much on media blackout for this until this thread was posted before the airdate.

Didn't know it was black and red until the last episode as I mostly saw the red part.

I indeed did not see the suit until I watched the last episode, and it even took me a week and a half to get through the show after it went up on Netflix.

On UK Netflix's app they started using the red suit as one of the preview images, unfortunately.

Something's been bugging me. Throughout the series Fisk's grip on his criminal empire was shown to be incredibly tenuous, where he's constantly trying to appease Gao, Nobu, Leland etc so they don't remove him from the equation. He spends most of the series scrabbling for power, but in the last episode it turns out he has a hyper-capable private army on call that almost solves all of his problems?

...is this the only MCU thing without any kind of post/during credits scene ?

The showrunner said in the IGN interview that the couldn't really do traditional post-credit stuff because the way Netflix Autoplay cuts off during the credits. The scene at the end of episode 7 with Stick and the mysterious figure is their version of a post-credit scene, but it's still right after the show so it didn't get skipped.

Spanish seems to be an issue in every TV series that isn't Jane the Virgin.

I still remember Gus Fring from Breaking Bad speaking Spanish; he was supposed to be a Chilean native. :lol

Abuela had shitty Spanish in the pilot for Jane. She got So much better, they obviously hired a voice coach.

Just finished.

Karen is a fucking horrible horrible character. Poorly acted, responsible for every single shit thing that happens in the whole fucking series. Fuck her.

While I wouldn't go that far, I really didn't like her too much in this season. I just felt like everything about her was just going around in circles.

It seems like lately people go into slows actively looking for a character to hate. It's honestly kind of baffling. Is the tragedy of Karen lost on most people? She is a good person who tries to do the right thing but it just doesn't go her way.
The hell? No she didn't? She's a fluent Spanish speaker.
Rewatch the pilot if you can. She was out of practice or something because it wasn't as good as it is now. Not anywhere as bad as DDs Spanish abuela though.

I just skimmed through it, and I really don't see what you're talking about. Her Spanish is great. It always comes off a bit stilted in these scripted dramas, maybe that's why you say that? I really doubt she was out of practice. She was born and raised in Puerto Rico; since their being bilingual is a fairly recent thing, it's a reasonable assumption that there's a portion of her family that only speaks Spanish.

And she only spoke Spanish on Glee so she wouldn't have been out of practice. It is more likely the direction was off in that case.

Oh man, sweet. Loved Rosario's portrayal and it's great that they have plans to get the character involved in the other series.

Just watched the final episode last night. While I really liked the series in general, I kinda feel like it peaked with the fight scene at the end of episode 2. I was super pumped after that scene, but nothing lived up to it in any of the following episodes.

Karen's spanish wasn't that bad and I found it funny the explanation was she only had it at the high school level. Matt's spanish was way off when I heard it the first time and it's funny he criticized Karen considering the pronunciation he had. That being said, I just like how they included so many languages in the show. It added a variety to some dialogue heavy scenes.
