Also, was anyone else weirded out by how scared Joe was of Grodd? Like he was damn terrified when he got captured and when he was like "Barry, please get me out of here," I felt really bad for him. Dude was legit shook.

That just means he's a darn good actor. Props to him. He's one of the better ones in the series.

Jesus, Iris, quit nagging. I understand that she is upset, because people kept her out, but my god, doesn't she understand that the crew is helping people. Jabs like "you're helping him al lday, but you can't Eddie right now, wäh wäh". Get a grip, Iris.

Other than that episode was good. Grodd looked pretty good for a tv show (but will no doubt look shitty in a few years when the tech moved on). Joe was my hightlight this episode. I was constantly chuckling whenever he was on screen. The way he actually bought a banana down and tried to give it to Grodd was so hillarious.

I was still more terrified for poor Eddie. Wells had him legit shook at THE EYEZ.

Grodd looked great :O Amazing performance by Joe again and angry Iris is the hottest Iris.

Loved when she just strolled in Star Labs on some "See now here's where y'all had me fucked up at" swag.

Joe: "Are you saying if you had known how Barry felt-"

Haha, he ships Barry and Iris so hard, between this and last week.

Nah seemed fine Grodd is a big fucking Gorilla anyone would be scared, I don't have a *Fear* of Sharks but I sure as fuck wouldn't want to be in the water with a Great White, much less a Gorilla. Also he was inside his head, Im sure even him just sending his Thoughts into Joes head was causing him pain.

Good episode as usual. Grodd sure was intimidating. Poor Eddie. Wells was so mean to him ha. Love me some evil Wells.
The Iris situation was handled well enough.
Still Star Labs security could do with a bit of work though heh. So many people just randomly walking in.

Of course she understands it now, but the first reaction when you feel betrayed is being pissed. We have have the viewer perspective and know a hell lot more than Iris since we have been following the cast and their decisions for months. They have been lying to her for months and 20 episodes...and she was pissed about it for like 5 minutes this episode makes you mad lol ?

The 3 closest persons in your life lying about something, even when you confronted them face on, for months is a big deal - takes time to process such things.

haha true...i was like damn Joe stop pimping out Iris. Joe wants IrisXBarry to happen asap lol.

Yeah i dont wanna trade places with Eddie...sucks to be him right now.

That Grodd.

Iris was right of course. Joe was just plain stupid for keeping her in the dark and enforcing it on Barry/Eddy too. Its about it.

Whether the drama around this is "enjoyable" or not, well, that is a different question altogether.

Good episode. Grodd CG was acceptable, I guess. It is what it is.
Grodd as a character was great though, seems like he's a real match for Barry.
But I don't quite get how he managed to grab Barry at that speed... he has superhuman reaction times as well? Or was it just some kind of fighting instinct that he somehow knew where the punch was gonna come? Or maybe I'm just thinking about this too much. lol

come on Cisco...you could have made a sick Killer Croc reference...not an alligator :(
Same.

I would imagine he can just sense minds...or maybe he really does have amazing reflexes.

That promo:
What the hell is Oliver Queen doing there? I'm sure they'll find someway of making him relevant but it seems like he's more of a liability in that situation.

Don't give two flying fucks how the gorilla looked or that they kept him in the darkness of the sewers. They made him a pretty effective villain for the day. Unlike most of the other throwaway villains that really aren't threatening outside of a scene or two. The bit with Joe and the gun was really good.

Pretty terrified seeing that.
Who wouldn't be at a villain with mind control powers, let alone a psychic gorilla? Curious how he'll come back next season.

I did find Iris annoying in the past episodes demanding to know whats going on. Although that didn't change too much this episode, I did understand her being pissed about being that last to know about... everything, especially with Eddie being missing still.

And speaking of Eddie... yikes, Wells/Eobard.

MTV: Earlier this week I was talking to Katrina Law about her character on “Arrow,” and how her character is LGBT — but it’s just a facet of her character, not the driving force behind her. And “Flash” is very similar, because you have this incredibly diverse cast that just happens to be diverse. It’s just parts of the whole. Have you had any interactions with younger actors — or kids of color — who were inspired by you taking on this role?

Patton: It’s so weird because when I was thinking about pilot season before I went in for “The Flash,” I just remember saying to myself, “I would love to get a role that changes the landscape of being an African American woman in television and film.”

And lo and behold I got “Flash,” playing a traditionally white character, and I didn’t realize what would come with that. It’s been incredibly difficult, but at the same time I’ve been in a position to give a lot of young actors that look like me hope that more characters are going to be written like Iris West and Joe West.

And not even just actors. I get comments all the time on Twitter, and fan mail about how amazing it is to see me play Iris West: a strong woman. It’s not really about her being black, she just happens to be black.

Someone tweeted me the other day during [the last episode] and said, “I’m watching ’The Flash’ with my five year old and she is looking at you and she said, ’Iris West looks like me, we’re both beautiful.’ ” I mean, I literally could cry.

Damn. Those last paragraphs.

;___;

Cavanagh is such a great actor. That whole Wells, scientific persona, is out of the window.

He owned Thawne

Great episode.

Promo:
I bet you something terrible is going to happen to one of these dudes (arrow and company) and Barry will have to go back in time yet again. Erasing everything but now with the knowledge that wells has cameras everywhere and all the other goodness. I could be wrong

Still don't like Iris, but the ethnic part is true (although I wouldn't call her strong, maybe headstrong). But the even more powerful thing are Joe and Barry. Joe adopted Barry without problems and is a real dad for him, no matter skin color or blood. Their relationship is the most precious about this tv series.

That and the show acts like his race is never problem along with the gay police captain.

Show just says "Hey, these characters are minorities..." and moves on.

Honestly, Iris was a lot better in this episode in that she was finally calling everyone on their shit.

But I still think the show made a major mistake but having Joe treat Barry like a son. I just can't get over the whole "sibling" thing, and that's a huge deal when it's supposed to be this star-crossed relationship.

Then again, the way they kept harping on it this episode makes me think that maybe they're not going to go that way. That the future is going to change (Iris is going to die, she's going to stay with Eddie, something!).

It also doesn't help that I don't really think the actors have a ton of chemistry with one another.

She already figured out his identity but it's still hilarious that she (and probably anyone else for that matter) can just waltz right in while Barry's chilling in his Flash costume.

Yeah, right, forgot about him. They also just have them be what they are without making a big deal of it. "Look, he's gay, lool how tolerant we are. Look he is gay we let him do some gay things so you understand". They are black or homosexual, but they're not defined by and reduced to that. Grumpy police captain is certainly not the fluffy, femalish gay stereotype. He is a grumpy police captain who happens to love a man.

Star Labs, the only high tech research facility and metahman prison in the world... without door locks or ANY other kind of security.

I think, the main hate with Iris, is this kind of things. The actress is fine but her writing is terrible and affects her.

The hate for Iris is so ridiculous.
Like how else would you react if you found out everyone important in your life was lying to you?

Anyway, I think the show will be better now that she knows about Barry; no more dealing with that side plot.

I agree. Joe and Barry demonstrate the most believable relationship on the show. Iris was a little better than being whiny like usual. I can deal with her being mad, it's the whiny conversations that drive me nuts.

Other than that I laughed so hard seeing Cisco carrying a banana into the sewer. Even some of the quips by Joe was great. Very very good episode. I dread when this show eventually degrades to what Arrow currently is.

Why is Eobard such a prick?

Keep in mind, we haven't seen his origin yet. We don't know why he hates Flash so much (at least on the show).

In general, though, his mindset is simply that all these people are already dead to him, and have been dead for centuries, so none of it really matters and none of it is "real". Recall that he keeps telling people that he's killing exactly that.

In the comics,
he idolized Flash and came back to the past to meet him. However, he discovered that instead of being Flash's friend he was destined to become the Reverse-Flash and it broke him psychologically. He kind of went insane.

That mindset makes him one of the most terrifying villains in a while IMO. More than the powers and look, that attitude is just scary.

Making a CG tiger brought the production crew for Life of Pi to their knees. And that was just a regular ass tiger. No way is a little show on the CW going to be able to do a fully articulate and intelligent gorilla - especially for fight scenes - on a network TV budget.

Be real, you guys.

Can anyone explain what goes into CGI cost. Like why does it cost money to continually use. Is it running on an expensive meter or something. I don't really know but it seems it's not just buying what makes the CGI and you're good to know. I don't really know anything that goes into making CGI

The main cost in CG is paying the artists to do what they have to do. The more elaborate the sequence, the more time and energy they need to put into it. Which means more money.

Liked the episode well enough.

Wells not having to pretend to be nice is awesome,he just rips into poor Eddie.

Iris is far less angry than I would be in her situation and I thought she dealt with the issues maturely.

Some of the CGI seemed iffy but Grodd was still a good villain. He could easily be the big bad next season by speaking through others like he did with Eisling and then having him show up only a few times.

Joe being utterly terrified after Grodd made him point the gun on himself was great and the actor really sold the fear.

Cisco was great as usual.
