So. That looked like fun though I really need a well organized bullet point of all the details lol, Breezy strikes again. The game needed something like this.

I skipped work for this...

loud noises, disappointing content

Was thinking about getting into Destiny again with HoW, but it honestly looks like I've missed nothing since I quit about a month after release. Gonna pass on Destiny till the sequel.

I still can't believe they failed so frequently and so publicly! Maybe next time invite someone who is known for being good at the game, rather than someone who is known for shrieking like a monkey on Twitch.

I am also surprised they didn't code in some kind of cheat or invincibility trick so they could at least show us what it is like to finish the activity.

yeah ok. The game is much better now. Its not perfect yet though.

So this was not a well thought out live stream.

  • Not nearly enough insight into the design and surrounding loot systems. That's the whole point of having the devs there!
  • They picked a mode they could not complete.
  • They brought a very annoying person to the stream. Broman seems like a nice dude but it was hugely distracting.
  • They did not have a cutoff point in mind so they can sit back and actually talk about Prison of Elders, as they did with Trials of Osiris.
I won't say it was a fiasco as we did get some good information and see it in action, but that was very poorly run.

PoE actually looks pretty great.

Agreed. Someone needs to drag Luke Smith on to the stream.

The mode looks like it'll be fun for a few weeks but i think my clan will get bored of it quickly. Certainly no Vault of Glass, from the look of it.

Also, good god those guys are terrible.

You sat down to watch a 2 hour live stream of a game you quit playing nearly 9 months ago?

The people who hate Destiny are more obsessed than the people that love it!

So do you see yourself returning to Destiny for this activity? It looks fun and highly repeatable.
The only arena I'm interested in is the level 28 one, and that's not enough to get me to jump back in.

But I might just be done with strict level based games. They're treadmills that are overly difficult to simply jump in and play - with level differences among friends being an issue, or a lack of matchmaking, or stringent daily or weekly caps. Its too many hoops to jump through for me these days.

Yeah, that's what I was waiting/hoping for. I could watch any of the numerous Youtube/Streamer videos that were just uploaded if I just wanted to watch someone play it.

I sat down to watch a live stream of an expansion I was interested in picking up again to get back into it... lol

Why wouldn't I do that if I wanted to see if it's worth the price?

I mean, did you even read my post? Be honest.

Nice jab at the end though, I see where your head is at.

Ok, then, it sounds like you've made up your mind.

Minus Crota, people are running the same stuff I was running before I quit

So? people still play the same content in games all the time. People are still playing the same maps from launch in COD. I don't get it. If you aren't having fun more power to you but its not like other games are out there with new content 8 months after launch.

So ironically they would've been better going through a very scripted special session of it that got them the clear and showed off the ending round boss, objectives, and rewards instead of straight gameplay.

Does etheric light drop in the level 32 arena?

If not I'm a little confused as to how the progression from 32-34 is expected to work. Maybe there will be HoW gear that drops from other level 32 events?

I don't think you've ever explored synergy in the weapons and armor of Destiny.

You keep references different unique perks. The Hunter build I listed above is a build about crazy maneuverability. You can walk almost as fast as you can sprint. You can slide crazy far. Combine it with Blink and you've got the fastest build in the game.

That to me seems like the ultimate gimmick. I would never need to do that playing normally. I'd use that for something super specific like soloing the abyss.

I've messed with perks and loadouts a lot. Ultimately not much changes. I rock max agility all the time because there's no need to ever change to armored or recovery and I like to move as fast as I can. I wear the armor I think looks best if I don't have to be max level and I use my favorite weapons unless there's a burn. I've beaten all the endgame content hundreds of times over. It's not any harder or easier. There's not much diversity in the game.

Does this mean you won't be a top five poster in every gaming-side Destiny thread anymore? :(

It drops in all hardmode arenas. It has a chance dropping through Nightfall(Might be added as a supplement to it?), Crucible, and you'll have an opportunity to buy it through IB ranks 3/5.

From the sounds of it, it looks like you favor one build over the others. That's ok. But just because you think everything else is a gimmick doesn't make it so.

That is because this is the second expansion, which comes after the first one. At any rate, Bungie has made a number of changes that have altered how things can be run, in addition to other 'quality of life' updates, along the way. The shotgun buff alone totally changed how PvE activities can be run, and opened up an entire new set of viable character builds.

If all the known content they've added since launch (new raid, new strikes, new missions, PVP maps, new gear/weapons, Trials of Osiris) qualifies as "nothing" for you, I don't think you can genuinely say there was a chance that this one mode in this one livestream had a shot at getting you to return. What were you wanting it to be?

Ok, great, thanks. I'm assuming Nightfall will get its level raised from 30->32.

Its the bolded that really makes me curious how deep you've gone into the rabbit hole.

If you've played as much as you have claimed you would know that recovery is generally considered the best base stat in PvP, as it has the strongest impact of the three.

Similarly, Armor is useful for actually surviving certain things. Full armor will let you survive a Hunter trip-mine. I switch to armor builds all the time in Skirmish if I see hunters on the enemy team.

You seem to have set some arbitrary labels for yourself regarding the whole build v gimmick thing. And that's fine, you can call them whatever you want. But the general public are going to refer to them what the general public has accepted as the proper terminology.

I don't think I've ever been a top five poster in anything, and definitely not Destiny. I just pop in every once in a while to see whats changed.

And like I said, I do like the look of the arena - that's exactly the kind of game mode I love. But its housed within a game and systems that I can't really groove to, and I'm realizing that's not likely to change any time soon, if ever. That's just Destiny, and this content looks perfect for existing Destiny fans, but not the kind of thing to change minds for those who are not interested or who have fallen out of love for the base game.

I've actually survived a Gjallahorn blast in PvP because of my Titans armor. And I've survived multiple grenades(Not at once of course) because of that armor. Sure agility is nice, but there's more to play with than he says.

I don't like the PvP, strikes are okay, but they get old very fast when you have to run them over and over.

Like I said, the only thing I missed was Crota, even then, from what my friends tell me it doesn't hold a candle to VoG.

Wait a sec. Are you critiquing something you haven't played?

Yeah, I know recovery is considered best. I said that I choose agility because I like to move as fast as I can. If you're switching a couple perks here and there once in a while to accommodate for situational things, that's not a build. You can keep calling it that if you want to though.

What? lol

What are you talking about? This is now the 3rd time I'm saying the only thing I've missed that I've wanted to play is Crota... This isn't confusing. Before your passion for Destiny gets in the way, re-read my posts before responding.

VoG was the best part of Destiny, when I asked my friends if it was worth coming back, they stated Crota was good but not AS good as VoG. I decided against returning.

I'll be honest, Crota is fun, not as fun as VoG, but fun. And the omnigul strike is actually enjoyable most of the time. The thing is, Crota is a different experience than VoG and you can tell that they wanted them to be different from each other.

Fair enough.

If you don't even consider a brand new raid to be substantially enticing content, I don't really know why you would expect to be brought back to the back by the livestream unveiling of non-raid content.

For what it's worth I think Crota's End is a lot more fun and repeatable because you can completely blast through it with a good group. VoG is a lot of standing around and waiting for shit to happen. Atheon is a great encounter but it's really the only one that goes faster with well-equipped experts.

You've started contradicting yourself. Take a quick breather. Maybe re-read our conversation and come back if you want. We can keep talking about this, but I'd prefer you had your thoughts sorted out first so I know what points I should be addressing.

What? lol

Honest question: Now that you're 100% sure that you're not interested in Destiny, will you still be interested in posting in Destiny-related threads?
