Batman Arkham Knight free with new 970/980's

I currently have The Witcher 3 already pre-ordered and was considering using my code as a giveaway during a stream. I noticed the email says I need to redeem the key on Nvidia's website but does anyone know if the same key will work directly from GoG or if Nvidia will require extra information when I redeem such as card S/N, purchase info, etc?

Sent Amazon an email and got a code a few hours later. I'm not sure if it makes a difference what "issue" you select from the drop downs before sending an email, but I selected the following:

Select an issue: Promotions and deals
Select issue details: Other promotion questions
Select additional details: Questions on how to qualify for a promotion

I simply stated I bought the card recently and asked if they could send me a code.

This got me in touch with someone from their marketing and promotional team and got the code without questions asked.

Hope that helps anyone who's having issues getting the code.

If you can read German, I find this hilarious.

Guten Tag Herr -----------,

messaging SuperBiiz. I hope they give me a code :p
I hate it when you buy stuff just to miss a better deal a few days later.

Just spoke to ocUK as I bought two 970s last month and they said I am still eligible so they sent me two batman codes, worth a go if anybody is in the same boat.

Got rid of my AK code since I really do want to play it on PS4 (and will likely double-dip on a future GOTY version on PC), but will keep TW3, even though that looks pretty damn good on PS4 as well.

Well, I'm not sure how you guys are getting so lucky with Amazon.

Received my 970 on April 28th. Chat with one representative: there's nothing they can do, I can return the item, etc. Eventually, he offers to contact the Marketing and Promotional team so they can send out a new code after now saying that this is an option, suddenly. I say go for it, as that would be totally ideal.

Marketing and Promotion e-mail: there's nothing they can do, I can return the item, etc. They won't send the new promotional code. So I call in. I'm transferred and speak to an actual representative.

Representative: there's nothing they can do, I can return the item, etc.

They won't budge. I know I'm not at all entitled to this promotion and I totally understand the circumstances, but considering how Newegg seems to be knocking these out without any hoops to jump through...

It sucks doubly because this is my first time ever ordering components from Amazon. I've always been a Newegg buyer when it came to parts. If Amazon's customer service isn't going to be as good as Newegg's seems to be, I'm honestly considering returning this to Amazon and buying from Newegg just in case something goes wrong with the card and I have to get in touch with customer service again.

Again, I know I'm not entitled to this and I don't expect to be. I'm just a little salty about the discrepancy in customer service support.

Hello,

I'm sorry to hear that you haven't received your Free download code for “Batman: Arkham Knight” for your new "NVIDIA graphics card" purchased from Order ID: xxxxxxxxxxxx yet.

Yes, you're correct, your order does qualify for this promotion and to remedy this situation, I've contacted our appropriate department to investigate the issue and below is the code which you can redeem.

My card arrived in late April and I was super nice on chat, so that probably helped.

Gave this a try. Thanks man!

Ah screw it GAF, I couldn't help myself and bought the PNY 970 for $296 on Amazon. Now I have to check my power supply when I get home to make sure i'm not going to kill it. I'm upgrading from a 660, so I'm hoping this is a noticeable improvement. I hate the fact that W3 is on GOG, but at least they have a game management client now. Guess I'm up to Steam/Origin/GOG. I do like that it's DRM free at least.

I updated from a 660ti and the improvement has been night and day. Been playing The Witcher 2 at more or less max settings and my FPS has easily doubled. You'll be very happy with your purchase, I was!

I ordered my 970 on the 23rd, gonna shoot off an email to Amazon support and see if they can help me out. Would be real nice to save the extra cash on Batman.

Yeah, I was pretty nice, too. I went in not feeling along the lines of, "it couldn't hurt to try." Things went pretty well in the chat portion of it. The second "review" by Marketing and Promotion was where the whole thing fell apart.

The phone call was surprisingly worse. "Well, it says in the terms and conditions..." That kind of stuff. I mentioned that I was aware of it, but only want to see if it could be honored due to the recency of purchase.

It's not that big of a deal, in the end. I'm a Prime member and love their service elsewise. I've had minor returns and damaged shipments that have been cleared with no problem. I just think I might stick to Newegg when it comes to my PC.

the website where i purchased the card updated the promotion...I'm now sending the email to the customer service, cross fingers for me gaf è_è

Yup, no dice here. I never have any luck with Amazon even as my friend got 20% off his 970 one minute before me.

Maybe I can sell my old 6970 and get a copy that way. Broke with a nice video card is not a nice combo. :P

Got mine. Here's the email.
Hello,

I understand your concern regarding the promotion code for Batman Arkham Knight. I apologize for any inconvenience caused to you.

However, I'm glad to inform you that, I've now retrieved the code for "Batman Arkham Knight" from the concerned department. Below is the promotional code for the following promotion:

Got my 970 on April 20th.

The PNY 970 has some pretty negative reviews on amazon and newegg, talking about rampant failures and whatnot. Is it really that bad?

Worth upgrading my GTX 680 to one of these yet? The most intensive games I've played in the last year were GTA V and Shadow of Mordor, they both run pretty well at 1440p when optimized with geforce experience.

Did anyone here get a key with a purchase they made in December by any chance? Just checking to see if it's possible for older orders.

I just got through chatting with Amazon and was told that my codes would be emailed to me in "7-10 days"

This is what I got as well since I ordered the card on Tuesday. I don't mind waiting though as I will still have the codes in time for the Witcher launch.

In the mean time I just installed my 970 and set up my triple monitors. My body is ready.

do they support triple monitors?

My 970 is working great with triple monitors. I didn't even have to use displayport. 1 HDMI + 2 DVI. It all recognized right from the start.

I recall someone earlier in the thread did actually get codes for an order placed in December.

I believe it was Amazon, too, which may or may not mean it was a complete fluke, given how reluctant Amazon is being about giving out codes.

I've spent way too much time telling people elsewhere to contact their retailer if the 970 or 980 they bought came from a place that's a part of this promotion.

Got my EVGA SSC ACX 2.0+ 970 around 1:30 this afternoon (or technically yesterday now) went with that one because the price between it and the SC was minimal. Still haven't really had time to play with it aside from a couple quick benchmarks, the performance increase is where I expected it to be from the reading I did at over a 100% to around the 125% range over my SLI'd 1GB GTX 460s which is great on top of the other benefits of using a single card and the benefits that come with that, currently idling at 36C with the fans off but I might switch to the other BIOS setting to so they run all the time or I might at least lower the threshold before they kick on, I do like my PC being a bit quieter but not crazy about waiting until the card hits 60C before they start doing anything. No coil whine so far but again I really haven't done much with it yet so we'll see. Next stop a good size SSD when I get the cash.

Oh, having to redo my G15 system monitor display is a pain in the ass because stupid me forgot to export it before uninstalling the old version of my monitoring software and installing a new version and didn't remember all the things I had on it.

The 970's power consumption is slightly higher than a 660 from what I've seen while offering around twice the performance.

Which version of the 680 do you have? 2GB or 4GB? If it's the 4GB version I don't think the performance increase from a 970 or even 980 is worth it even the 2GB version will probably be enough to hold out until the 900 series successor comes out or to see if AMD delivers on the 300 series hype. Check some benchmarks and comparisons from others who had a 680 and upgraded to see if you find it worth it.

I've seen a post or two or three from people who bought a card as far back as last September and still getting the codes. It's entirely possible depending on who you talk to.

On the website I bought my card from, the beginning of the promotion is 10 march

Still waiting answer from the customer service though

EDIT:damn they just changed the rules since yesterday ..now it says that you can ask for batman only if you bought it after the 4th of may..that's bullshit right there :[

yesterday it said 10 march

I hope the 3.5gb thing with the 970 doesn't end up being an issue for me. Though I guess it doesn't matter since I'll probably end up selling it for a 20nm card anyway.

It probably doesn't help you now, but in the future if you use text (or plan to use text) from a vendor's website in your arguments, always screencap it for proof.

At my work they sell video cards among other stuff and this news was hit this past week and marketing was even surprised by it but i got a voucher from my boss. I don't have a card yet maybe later but thank god for such a cool boss i have got both Arkham and Witcher 3.

My buddy bought from Amazon late April. He emailed amazon and they gave him the code for batman. He ended up giving me both his codes for Witcher and Batman.

So, NewEgg sent out a promo code this morning for the 970 I bought which made it $329.99 before the rebate, for some reason that model now doesn't show the promotion for the games and the back plate has also been seemingly removed even when added to my cart which made them show up Tuesday. They also added the "Iron Egg Price Guarantee" gimmick that wasn't there. Still $6 less than what I paid so I spent a couple minutes with chat, wouldn't refund my card because the Iron Egg gimmick wasn't there before but gave me store credit, that basically amounted to refunding my shipping which is cool, now just have 90 days to buy something to make use of it, maybe I'll get an SSD by August, hey free 2-3 day shipping.

It and the rest of the promo is here.

So I purchased the 970 from my local supplier but they only had the Witcher 3 redemption card. He said to come back another day for the Batman one. I asked him if they had it before and he said he didn't even know that the promo was available. Should I be patient and wait for these guys to do something about it or open up a ticket with Nvidia? What do you guys think?

Anyone had any luck with scan uk? I purchased the 970 on March 27th and received witcher 3. But having this would be icing on the cake, think it's a bit late though.

Wow. I bought that model on Tuesday (May 6th) as well. I sent them an email this morning about the promo/discount. It's weird that those games are gone now. I wonder what they're doing over there.

Yeah, I don't know, the games are back now (and showing on the card's page) but the back plate is still gone, guess they could've ran out or it was just a limited time thing. I'm going to guess someone messed up updating and when removing the free back plate ended up removing the games as well.

I got this card in the mail yesterday to take advantage of this deal and replace my Crossfired 270x's and so far it's been nothing short of awesome. I was even able to overclock it to pretty much 980 speeds with no issues. And that's coming from someone that's never gotten anything to decently overclock and remain stable.

Screw you guys, just ordered an MSI GTX970. I figure it's my last shot at upgrading my I2500K without changing my motherboard and processor. I also figure it should amply last me this console gen (I'm a 1080p guy).

Now to figure what I'm going to do with my old trusty 560 Ti.

Dedicated physx card.

so i am thinking about getting the 970 but i don't know much about graphics cards. I was thinking between these: 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5.

what are the differences and which should i pick?

The MSI card #1 (the black one with blue stickers on the fans) has a fairly crappy cooler with less heatpipes than the red or green MSI cooler. The red and green ones are essentially the same, the green one is just an anniversary edition.
As for the Gigabyte cards, the G1 is probably going to be a slight bit better. They are overclocked more and I've read the GPUs on those cards are cherry picked for better overclockability. Not sure how true that is though.

In summary I'd go for the Gigabyte G1 if you're from the UK (they're based there.)
Or go with the green or red MSI card if you want. Whichever you prefer the look of.

Oh also, the Gigabyte cards are longer, so make sure you have room. I'm not sure if they have 0 RPM fans but the MSI card does, which means one fan will stop spinning unless you're using a decent bit of GPU power.

Going to try talking to Amazon tomorrow. Hopefully I'll get a code for arkham

Also, for those interested in the 970, I recommend the Asus strix. I had a pair of them and they were whisper quiet with no coil whine (unlike the evga sc 970 I tried out) and had pretty beastly performance in SLI.

I ran most games at 1440 or 4k and when the vram usage hit that 3.5 gig wall, I got stuttering and lag. Also, at the time there were quite a few awful SLI profiles (dying light, ac unity, etc ) and made it seem like I wasted my money at least on the 2nd one. I decided to just roll with a single card and dodge the SLI problems and if I was going to use 1 card, it would be the 980 do I got the gigabyte g1 980 and it's really sweet. 1440p max/ultra everything @60 fps except GTA V and AC unity.

I ended up getting a max stable OC of 1540 MHz on the core and the temps never go over 61*C and at 70% fan speed which is where I capped it, the fans are practically inaudible. Come to think of it, I'd probably roll with the G1 970 over the strix.

I've pushed the card a bit more now and also seem to have lucked out with no coil whine with my 970. I think I'm going to eventually create my own fan speed/temp curve, the secondary BIOS did drop my low utilization/idle temps by about 6C with just 12% fan speed but it still doesn't turn the fans up as high as I'd like as temps ramp up.

Oh and the next stop being an SSD happened three months sooner than I expected. Yay for prepping for a fresh install... God I hate doing those but it'll be worth it. 500GB Samsung 850 EVO from Amazon was $180 over the weekend which from what I could tell is an okay price, also used that $6 credit from NewEgg for a replacement fan for the top of my case because it's been annoying the shit out of me, more so since I finally turned it around to be the exhaust fan it should've been when Cooler Master put it in the damn case.
