It'll be dead because the central mechanic will get old fast.

I didn't know NSMBU was an online game. Must have missed that mode.Nsmbu
It'll be dead because the central mechanic will get old fast.
I never played NSMBU, that game had an online multiplayer function?
He said Splatoon will be dead in a month not because of voicechat though.
Screw that, just take a picture with your phone.Well now I hope all consoles remove the online stores from their system. Why the hell do we have that crap there wasting HDD space when we can just check the content on a browser from our PC/Phone/Tablet?
And lets hope the new wave of online games releasing later this year are finally done with those useles invites. So much time and money wasted making a feature when I can just text my friends to tell them I have set up a party and I want to play with them
Basic tutorials in games? Why? If I don't understand something I'll just go to Gamefaqs
And those damn screenshots you can take now. Am I the only one that thinks it's ridiculous that people enjoy how easy it is to capture screenshots and clips on current gen consoles? I mean, it's not like you could't do that before the Ps4/X1/WiiU, you just had to buy a capture card
In an ideal world every system should have party chat, but this world is far from ideal.Every system should have party chat. My VITA has party chat. This is only a "tired argument" because Nintendo is so far back in 2001.
Who chats on a console anymore? Serious question. I never do with randoms, and I don't play with friends a ton and even when I do we don't really chat.
This too.

i know that people want it and all, but why are you all getting so heated over this?
You said a Nintendo game. Nsmbu was dead after a night.
I would rather hear the jokes and laughs of my friends.Seriously though, who would want to talk and hear chatter over those awesomely wicked tunes???
I didn't actually notice anyone in this thread arguing against OS party chat except for a few people saying they missed having everyone use in-game chat instead (to make new friends). What's insane is arguing against an OS party system with voice chat or voice chat between friends. I'm going to get the game to play with a friend, and the prospect of having to hassle to set up an off-console voice chat every time we play sounds aggravating already. Not having a party/friend chat is indefensible and inexcusable.
Tamiya: Firstly, when the other person is online with Wii U and you call them, their Home Button will flash to let them know a call is coming in. If they open the Menu, theyll get a message telling them they have an incoming call and if they answer it, the Wii U Chat session begins.
Iwata: But they have to end the game they were playing, yes?
Tamiya: Yes, they will have to end the game.
Iwata: There must be technical hurdles involved, but I hope this is an area that we can improve on in the future.
That still gets plenty of Miiverse activity though. You said a Nintendo game. Nsmbu was dead after a night.

Even Iwata wants a system party chat (lol):
You said a Nintendo game. Nsmbu was dead after a night.
It not lazy decision, it's a well thought through, mechanically developed, inhouse tested and *(/[WRONG])* decision.
**insert opinion here

Way to be late to the party, IGN.
Anyways, with an expanded pinging system, it could be a much better alternative to voice chat.
Using the "c'mon" ping REALLY helped me get some backup in-game.

This too.
If only you could look at the map and see what needs to be inked over.
It's more friendly for everyone with no voice chat plus it adds more to the chaos
There are other things to consider that a simple opt-in wouldn't solve but actually become the problem, but I already collaborated on that earlier in this thread and I really need to get to bed. They clearly didn't think it through enough considering opt-in solves their complaints while still helping to foster an online community.
We are very sorry for any inconvenience to the many consumers who have been using this service responsibly; however this decision was made considering the point that many minors also use this feature of Swapnote. Thank you for your understanding.
I hate it really bad. I don't know if its cheap and lazy as much as it is misguided developer design.
Ending a post like that says you've probably had too much GAF for the whole month... Jeez, this thread is something else. There are other things to consider that a simple opt-in wouldn't solve but actually become the problem, but I already collaborated on that earlier in this thread and I really need to get to bed.
All I really wanted to spread in this thread was that having options isn't always a good thing and that people really should try to consider why developers would make such a call, but I guess that's to much to ask in this age of angry entitled videogamers with musculinity crisis'. Definitely had too much gaf today, so I say goodnight people, till the next ninty voicechat thread. (^-^)b
Not having voice chat options in a multiplayer, team-based game isn't an omission, it's a feature!
There really is a defense force for everything. I'm excited for the inevitable meltdowns in the review thread when some reviewer shreds this game for launching without so many features.
Can't wait for the inevitable why don't Zelda have VA in 2015 or rather 2016.
The game will be dead within a month but not due to lack of voice chat.
Nsmbu

Yay, a person cheering for a game to do bad just because he generalizes 2 posters as a whole defense force. Seriously new for me to see someone so excited at wanting to see a game score badly.
This. But Nintendo needs to protect the kiddies. Sure, ignore the fact that a significant proportion of the market that grew up with your games and systems are now in the 20-30+ category and are (shock, horror) adults. They should have given the option. Make it off by default, but at least make it an option
It'd be more like if Zelda came out in 2016 and you had to pause to swap gear and itemsCan't wait for the inevitable why don't Zelda have VA in 2015 or rather 2016.
