The Witcher 3 - Official Xbox One gameplay

Tree pop in and out is pretty bad, seems an auto jump happens as well. Very immersive breaking.

The trees are removed far too early. I don't like it when just walking but in combat with the early removal they disappear and reappear all the time when they should just remain

That is pretty bad. I usually blow off the "pop-in" talk, but when there's a tree appearing/disappearing literally like 2-3 feet from you while you're playing, that seems like something they need to correct.

Damn, I was literally about to post this. You're too fast shinobi.

I guess you didn't get the memo. shinobi602 is not actually a person. He's the same bot that Wall street traders use to get the fastest possible trades. Someone figured out to use it for videogame news so now here we are. You can't beat him/it unless you're willing to spend tens of millions on technology, scientists and laser internet uplinks :(

I am pretty sure the trees just appear/disappear depending on the camera position..

That much is obvious. The thing is how early they get removed.

In combat with the camera moving fast they disappear and reappear way too often.

The jump out the way thing may be coincidental or not, I'm more concerned how frequently they pop in and out.

Because trees seem to get removed at half to two thirds distance of the camera, it makes the combat look silly. I've not played or seen a game that removes tress this early. Also with the height of the camera, in any other game the small tree would stay but not in Witcher 3.

If most are fine with it then no problem. I'll just have to live with it. Early tree removal has been noted and seen already in previous footage walking scenes. In combat it makes for unnecessary trees in and out.

This is intentional. It's to prevent objects from obscuring the view.

It's done on purpose so you can see more clearly.

Wat? You might not want to throw the word "troll" around like that....

I've not played either game, but Bloodborne's combat looks a lot better than TW3's.

I have played Bloodborne, the fighting aint really all that, this looks just as good IMO. Guess we will see on the 19th :)

I'll totally look past some popIn based on what they achieved with such limited hardware. Excellent job by CDPR.....can't wait :D

Go play bloodborne.

There are things wrong with "souls" games, but the combat certainly isn't one of them. You chose the worst element of those games to have an issue with, particularly since you haven't played it.

I own the witcher 1 and 2 and completely agree that the combat in each game is bad. It doesn't make me a troll at all. The combat in this trailer looks exactly the same as the previous two games.

TW1 and TW2 had completely different systems so the bolded is complete nonsense.

Just placed an order for this game on amazon..got it for 20 bucks less because of an amazon promo that if you use your American Express card you get 20 bucks off your order..did the online chat, got 20 bucks off :-)

Hahaha, good catch--didn't even notice that myself. TW1 and TW2 may as well have been two completely different games, if you're going by their combat systems. All they have in common is the base ideas (two swords, alchemy, etc.).

I quite like that "object pop in and out" system because I don't want my screen full of shrubbery when drowner is proceeding to hump my leg. It looks gamey and bad at places when happening very close to you, but I still take this over alternative.

I don't really mind it either, plus it looks like it only does it while in combat.

Yeah that tree fading system during combat looks to be a little too intense. I hope there'so some kind of patch to tone it down on consoles. Maybe on PC it'll be less of an issue.

It seems to almost completely lack feedback. Your weapons just float through the enemies.

Bingo. I've always felt that the combat looked floaty. People defend it by saying that Geralt's style of combat is similar to dancing... but swords should still have somewhat of an impact when they hit an enemy. Enemies should react. And the sound really needs to drive that experience home.

Not to mention now janky the dodges and rolls look.

I played The Witcher 2 mostly for the interesting world and story. This game will add a huge world with a ton of exploration, so I'm still on board. The combat in this series has never been a huge selling point, and I can see how people could be easily turned off by it.

Wait, what promo is this? I don't see it offered anywhere... I have a pre order with Target but I'd be willing to ignore that one if I can get 20 bux off at Amazon (Target is only offering me 5 dollars credit rebate).

Edit: Looked it up. Apparently I am not eligible as it doesn't list it as one of their offers on my card. Ah well. I'll probably get it quicker by going to target in the morning than waiting for it to come by mail anyways.

This crap is not present on PC and it doesn't bother gameplay at all.

Months of optimisation at work right here.

None of that "pop up" has been seen out of combat. It appears when you get in combat, the stuff in the way of the camera fades out . I don't think its anything to worry about.

Watch the second GIF closely people. Whenever the small tree is directly in front of Geralt it fades out.

In regards to the trees removing themselves from your view, I think that's something that looks pretty bad while you're watching, but something I think I'll be thankful for while I'm in combat and trying to see shit. Those forests are dense.

I don't think it's a problem at all.

If it only happens in combat then Im all for it.

This question probably won't go over well here, but is there any way (other than importing a Saudi Arabian copy) to get a censored version of this game in the US? Is there an option to filter/toggle the profanity/nudity? I don't particularly care for virtual sex scenes in my living room and I really want to experience the rest of the game.

What does the combat of the game have to do with Xbox exactly? The combat is the same in every version and from what i have seen and considering witcher 1 and 2 i dont think its the games strongest area.

Exactly.I really don't understand if they are serious or trolling.
