This Donny Yee guy is always going on and on about how Brady cooperated..... Yet would not hand over his phone, or let investigators go through you phone with Brady and Yee there.

Guilty as sin if you ask me

Statement from Tom Brady's agent, Don Yee:

“The discipline is ridiculous and has no legitimate basis. In my opinion, this outcome was pre-determined; there was no fairness in the Wells investigation whatsoever. There is no evidence that Tom directed footballs be set at pressures below the allowable limits. In fact, the evidence shows Tom clearly emphasized that footballs be set at pressures within the rules. Tom also cooperated with the investigation and answered every question presented to him. The Wells Report presents significant evidence, however, that the NFL lacks standards or protocols with respect to its handling of footballs prior to games; this is not the fault of Tom or the Patriots. The report also presents significant evidence the NFL participated with the Colts in some type of pre-AFC Championship Game planning regarding the footballs. This fact may raise serious questions about the integrity of the games we view on Sundays. We will appeal, and if the hearing officer is completely independent and neutral, I am very confident the Wells Report will be exposed as an incredibly frail exercise in fact-finding and logic. The NFL has a well-documented history of making poor disciplinary decisions that often are overturned when truly independent and neutral judges or arbitrators preside, and a former federal judge has found the commissioner has abused his discretion in the past, so this outcome does not surprise me. Sadly, today’s decision diminishes the NFL as it tells its fans, players and coaches that the games on the field don’t count as much as the games played on Park Avenue.”

lolol

"This is untrue, also, isn't it like totally weird that the NFL looked at the Colts balls, you should definitely investigate them instead"

It's wishful thinking. Most QBs washout, by the numbers anyways.

This truth does not apply to our boy Brock!

Did people even read the report? This punishment doesn't fit the findings. I think the reaction from Patriots fans is justified. The report explicitly says there was no evidence that the team or the coach were involved. A 1st, a 4th, and $1M for not granting permission to interview team employees for a 5th time seems a little over the top.

Oh, misread, NVM.

But still, McNally and Jastremski were part of the organization, hence the organization gets punished. Just not Kraft or Belichick.

If that were the case and Brady really felt that way, then he probably wouldn't have tried to cover his own tracks and would have cooperated when they asked him to. You also have no proof either way how long they've been deflating balls anyway. A lot of the reason Brady is in trouble and got suspended in the first place is because he wouldn't cooperate.

One is a case of on the field cheating and refusing to cooperate when pressed about it, the other is an off the field infraction that has already been proven in other sports to not really matter when it comes to the success of the team. You have no proof either way that deflating balls didn't help, but I have years of MLB World Series champs that prove my point that spending more money doesn't automatically win championships.

The deflation only happened on home games, not away games, as the home team is responsible for delivering the balls. So if the Brady have been deflating for a while and it has had impact his play style, we should be able to compare their home & away numbers, and Brady's numbers for away games are better than home games.

I agree with you about the reasons for the suspension, it had more to do with cooperation, than it did about the infraction itself.

Given that no evidence linking Brady was found on the two equipment guys phones, I fail to see what Tom's phone would have provided them.

Uhhh, don't both teams supply their own balls?

Kicking balls are more regulated, but home team doesn't supply away team balls, hasn't been like that for a decade.

As others have said, this is the price you pay for success. Little things become huge things and your defeated rivals look for excuses for losing.

Will be reduced to 2 games. Week 5 against the Colts will be a good old fashion Patriots beat down.

No more guilty than the NFL's own executives. NFL not giving up their phones for Rice and getting angry at Brady is hilarious.

Maybe don't cheat and things like this wouldn't happen.

Peter King did a comparison on MMQB today. There was no difference.

I dunno, not many of greats have had to pay for the price of cheating and lying after their success.

That doesn't really mean anything. You have no idea how well or badly Brady would have done in those home games if he was forced to use properly inflated balls. There is no way to tell that. The closest you get is making assumptions about away games, and there are plenty other factors in those situations, like possibly having better and warmer weather conditions, that could play into why he played better on the road.

Yeah outside of the fact that one of the guys called himself

'the deflator'

Then again I guess we would never know what was on the phone or that hour long phone call once this story broke. Because Brady didn't cooperate, if he did, maybe the suspension would have only been 2 games

Yes both teams supply balls, but the home team ball boy is responsible for delivering the balls, which is why McNally had both teams balls with him.

I kind of assume every team has at least one player or coach committing illegal acts to gain the upper hand. Does that make me cynical?

Not really, but the Pats are the only organization to be caught, repeatedly. Either they are cheating more or they are much worse at concealing it than the other 31 teams. Which is likelier?

Did they break the rules? Yes. Did the punishment fit the crime? Not even close. This was the NFL caving to the public pressure from salty Pats haters.

The punishment for Brady is the same as a first time PED user, 4 games. So yea getting caught cheating for the first time is 4 games. Seems like a fair penalty to me.

It's even better than I was hoping for.
These are some of my favorites:

FWIW, I just emailed the NFL Shop and asked them to remove me from their mailing list, I also informed them that their commissioner is a joke and a disgrace.
This is equivalent of getting 30 years for a parking violation. The NFL is operating like the Gestapo
So that Indianapolis game ... Can we just start calling that the red wedding?
:jnc

In the AFCCG, he did much better in the second half with footballs in the legal range than he did in the first half with football below the legal range.

Is week 5 the game against the Colts? I thought the Pats had their bye in week 4 so he wouldn't come back until week 6 unless the suspension is reduced.
