Hehe. Tak seems super happy for his former coworker :)

Digital will be available to all but disc copies are Kickstarter exclusive.

I don't think disc only. More like the limited editions will be kickstarter only. Iga and Paul already have a publisher lined up.

Make it a low budget spinoff then. Like" not "mega man zero on 3DS,that came out fast enough.
I think the most I would hope for would be a Azure Striker Gunvolt type deal. Smaller game, similar idea in that it pays homage to something they used to make, but its not directly tied to the big project.

I love how this kickstarter has RPG elements in it. Not the game, the actual kickstarter itself.
We need to 100% this bad boy.

Between this and Yooka-Laylee being fully funded, I can't help but wonder why publishers, who spend tens of millions on these AAA games, can't spare some of that on projects like these.

Thank goodness for Kickstarter.

Many publishers have become risk averse suits that are profit profit profit first. The industry has changed a lot

I've always wondered this as well. I've worked in multiple industries, but never have I seen one that so adamantly tries to ignore market demand the way AAA gaming does.

Edit: My guess would be that it's a lot harder to gauge demand than in other industries. For instance, it's much easier for my employer to gauge the demand for leukemia research because you don't really have big pharmaceuticals spamming twitter saying they'd commission 100 studies.

It's not that simple of course or else big publishers would never do wrong since all they would have to do is to just read forums :)

Left for class in the morning while this was at 10k, come back home to see it got double the funding IN ONE DAY?

Time to back it

Movies do it as well, iirc.

Honestly, I can't blame them. AAA games carry price tags in the tens of millions. The publishers think that if they aren't guaranteed to get that much back, it's just not worth it. They don't seem to be too interested in funding smaller projects outside of mobile titles.

Yeah... kiddy porn charges kinda keeps things from happening.
People tend to forget that Dennis Dyack's involvement was a major turnoff for many and the initial reason why the first campaign failed. The kiddy porn charges were just the final nail in the coffin but by then SOTE was doomed to fail.

Iga on the other hand is a well respected developer with a well respected team in Inti Creates. The crowdfunding was always meant the gauge interest anyway and he's made it clear the full game will probably have a higher budget because funding is coming somewhere else. If the game fails to come out to market, perma-ban me from Gaf.

PS1 or 360 version are the best here. PS1 for completeness including the CG FMVs and 360 for loading.

PSP one in Drac X chronicles was fun too, if only for the newer translation (though the legendary original was superior in terms of badness) and the restoration of Maria mode, which wasn't in the ps1 version for some reason.

For all the shit Ubisoft and Activision get, I definitely appreciate it when they fund games like King's Quest, Child of Light, etc.

I just wish we had more of that from them.

This is part of the reason I think publisher funded middle market games need to be the norm again.

i know he's doing it for yuks, but Ninety-Nine Knights 2 was a legitimately fun game.

Was it really? I throughly enjoyed the first one, but I never hear a peep about the sequel.

I can't believe they've already crossed 1 million. I figured they'd get funded and read a few stretch goals, but this is amazing. Big ups to Iga and team. Make us a great one guys.

I'm not a fan of this subgenre but I am a fan of IGA's swagger.

Kind of where I fall to be honest, haha. I have enjoyed his Castlevanias from time to time though, I'm just not crazy about them. The original style Castlevanias will always be my favorite, but I can respect his vision and style. I don't get the hate that's spewed his way on any level.

If it wasn't for him Castlevania would probably be dea... Oh wait...
