Wasn't David Hayter announced as playing a main character in that NotEternal Darkness revival that failed (twice) to get Kickstarted? No amount of Hayter could rescue that mess.Tip to future kickstarters:
David Hayter will accomplish any stretch goal amount.
Digital will be available to all but disc copies are Kickstarter exclusive.

Unreal Engine 4 doesn't natively support the 3DS, WII U or the Vita.Seperate 2D game for 3DS and Wiiu believe.
Stretch goal needed for Vita version.

I think the most I would hope for would be a Azure Striker Gunvolt type deal. Smaller game, similar idea in that it pays homage to something they used to make, but its not directly tied to the big project.Make it a low budget spinoff then. Like" not "mega man zero on 3DS,that came out fast enough.

What kiddy porn charges? What did I miss there!?Yeah... kiddy porn charges kinda keeps things from happening.
What do they mean by "That said, we've heard legends about a remarkable treasure hidden in the castle basement..."
Brb, starting new game for SOTN.
Between this and Yooka-Laylee being fully funded, I can't help but wonder why publishers, who spend tens of millions on these AAA games, can't spare some of that on projects like these.
Thank goodness for Kickstarter.
Average dollar amount per backer is $77.
Yooka-Laylee is averaging $50.
Which is the best version of this game to play these days anyways?

Isn't this going faster than Yooka-Laylee?
I've always wondered this as well. I've worked in multiple industries, but never have I seen one that so adamantly tries to ignore market demand the way AAA gaming does.

PS1 or 360 version are the best here. PS1 for completeness including the CG FMVs and 360 for loading.

Edit: My guess would be that it's a lot harder to gauge demand than in other industries. For instance, it's much easier for my employer to gauge the demand for leukemia research because you don't really have big pharmaceuticals spamming twitter saying they'd commission 100 studies.

People tend to forget that Dennis Dyack's involvement was a major turnoff for many and the initial reason why the first campaign failed. The kiddy porn charges were just the final nail in the coffin but by then SOTE was doomed to fail.Yeah... kiddy porn charges kinda keeps things from happening.

Many publishers have become risk averse suits that are profit profit profit first. The industry has changed a lot
Movies do it as well, iirc.
Honestly, I can't blame them. AAA games carry price tags in the tens of millions. The publishers think that if they aren't guaranteed to get that much back, it's just not worth it. They don't seem to be too interested in funding smaller projects outside of mobile titles.
i know he's doing it for yuks, but Ninety-Nine Knights 2 was a legitimately fun game.
I'm not a fan of this subgenre but I am a fan of IGA's swagger.

www.kickstarter.comThis is part of the reason I think publisher funded middle market games need to be the norm again.
