Have you ever dug a hole?

Was going to say this...lol.

I don't recall a hole where I didn't dump the dirt behind me (even using a wheelbarrow...it was behind or behind/beside me).

These gifs are amazing, can't wait.

Giantbombs going to do their thing. I'm not a fan, but one guys opinion isn't going to sway me one way or the other.

Sad to hear about the padded story and fetch quest. I'm still excited though.

We'll see. The only obnoxious fetch quest I remember in Witcher 2 was a jokey quest involving collecting ~70 harpy feathers (that were easily found by just doing other side quests). As long as these "fetch quests" play into the story and have interesting characters/decisions, they'll be more easily forgiven than the MMO-like DA:I sidequests or Kingdom of Amalur quests. I don't think CD Projekt would go for that cynical design.

Not sure I understand. U mean review version? No they weren't the retail version. Because the patch was coming in hot, it could only work on debug PS4s

And also GamesRadar+ mentioned a day zero patch still being worked on

Tragically, all of these areas suffer from chronic framerate issues on the PS4 review build provided. CD Projekt RED included a letter promising that optimisation continues and a 'day zero' patch will fix things, but it's possible some of these problems will remain immediately after launch. The jerkiness seriously affects the fluidity of combat, and sporadic slowdown appears in cutscenes, and particularly in dense areas like the Velen bogs during graphically intense weather conditions like rain storms.

It's kind of early for reviews.

Meaning a lot of people already got their thrill of the game. :( it's expected.

Me: "but I paid..double and they get it for free"

Them: "doesn't matter muwahaha"

Didn't they say there will be no (or barely any) fetch quests because they hate fetch quests? Reviews are saying it has many fetch quests...

Worst part is these fetch quests are part of the main story; hence the padding. No game is perfect. I platinumed DAI after all.

I've played the first two games.. CD Projekt brand of "fetch quest" is better than most. I'm not worried.

Just wow.

IGN's comment in regards to the Story was a little hard to swallow.

Hopefully it's not quite as extreme as they are making out. And that's honestly what I'm assuming.
They've said that you spend about 3/4 of the game searching for Ciri, and you spend almost 3/4 of the novels searching for Ciri, yet the characters and events that occur along that journey are incredible. I'm assuming that as a book reader, I'm not only going to get a lot more out of the story/characters, but the 3/4 of it being a search for Ciri will feel right at home and perfectly fine.

Yeah, the feather quest was straight up a parody added in via free DLC.

It will be like the Gamespot review said, I think: at the end of the day you're still fetch questing, but every one of them has an interesting angle or a tweak. Appreciation milage may vary.

Ironically one of the quests the IGN reviewer mentions is just like the harpy joke quest, a spoof on fetch quests with situational humor. Irony is often lost on IGN.

Wait Metacritic doesn't just average all the scores? There's actually different weightings for each review site?

Yes. Depending on how big a publication is / track record they are weighted more heavily. Stuff like IGN and GameSpots reviews will have a heavier weighting than a much smaller site

Better than your PS4, is the short answer. How much better, we don't know yet. Still, on PC you have options. On consoles you don't. That would matter to me, might not matter to you though.

It does and it doesn't. I'm very much still in the console mindset of plug in and play even though I built my rig like 2 years ago. :P

I'll probably try and see how cheap I can get it on PC. Don't really have the cash to spend £40 plus anyway.

Several are also reporting a relatively weak main story. I might not be a Witcher fan (yet), but that disappoints me profoundly regardless, because everyone is always telling me, "you're wrong about open world games; they can absolutely tell amazing cinematic and emotionally powerful stories, and _____ will prove it", and I'm always reading this in open world game reviews. D:

I thought Dragon Age: Inquisition, for example, would have been a spectacular experience with a beefier, more focused narrative, but it's missing the kind of regularity and impact that it needed to go that extra mile. In TW3's case, it sounds like the nature of writing an open world game kept things to a same-y level all game long, according to folks like IGN's writer. I don't know, it just... nothing open world ever gives me hope that developers besides, like, Naughty Dog (ie, developers who aren't embracing it), can continue to give me exactly what I want (and yeah, I know, I'm a picky bastard) in this industry state whereby damned near everyone just has to do it.

But I won't say more, because I know it isn't fair of me to malign a product I haven't experienced for myself. It's just really disheartening, just this one thing, which to many is "just" one thing, but to me is a huge reason why I game. I love me some focused, evolving narratives, and I want RPGs to continue that tradition, and every time an open world game comes along and maybe, just maybe, has the chance to prove to me that main quests can still be spectacular in this style, I end up reading these same review blurbs.

'Course, who knows. Maybe I'll play it and think they're all wrong and TW3 will blow me away with its critical path through and through.

I did, at least. Wasn't easy, but I pulled it off.
Was just wondering, because isn't out for an other week.

Thought reviewers were just taking advantage of the fact, that the game didn't have a release day embargo.

10/10 fetch quests.
I dunno, I'm not a farmer.

So how would you dig a hole?

What about Lolygon? I am afraid they will be dropping a negative review.

Hyped for the scores. Not really liking the Dragon Age similarities. Especially not if it's tied with The Witchers poor gameplay and apparently also not very stellar story this time around. Actually why does it score so high?

Those are some pretty decent scores. But fetch quest-heavy, eh? I thought CDPR really disliked that stuff, and would make every quest in the game interesting? Oh well.

(No, I haven't actually read all the reviews yet.)

People should learn not to listen to developers tell you how good their game is. Look at the size of the game world and the reported playtime. Of course it is packed with fetch quests.
