The Witcher 3 PS4 gameplay

Well this is what we are getting from devs who are not lazy and care about their game.

I don't think that's fair. There are certainly devs who coast on their game development practices and whatnot, but there are also many who don't have the resources, budget or discipline to make a game like this.

Those in Japan who only have the manpower to make a Persona 5 instead of an open world cinematic go anywhere do anything experience should not be slandered for not delivering on the same thing. Not everyone can be Square Enix or Ubisoft or Rockstar obviously...or CDPR.

Even so, its absolutely amazing the world these guys have crafted

The little tufts of grass make me laugh lol, it's like little bits of cardboard wobbling from left to right.

Great quality video though, gives you a decent look at the game.

Eh it's pretty fair, the budget for this game was not that much compared to most AAA games and yet they made and outstanding game and even delayed it twice to make sure it's on par.

To be fair it's more along the lines of praising the dev and throwing shade on big AAA studios that bring out unfinished stuff like Unity. I'm pretty sure a lot of love and care is poured into the Persona games seeing as how everyone but me enjoys them and they are in fact good games :D

So when people are saying 'frame rate issues' are we talking the occasional drop/stutter when things get busy or a more general <25 chug? I mean DA:I had pretty rare hitches, yet the way some people reported it was more like it was completely game-breaking.

I like brighter colours of the PS4. Wish that was a setting or something.

What do you mean? Colors are the same across versions. Some of the older trailers had more muted tones but that's changed.

It's really hard to tell right now. All the footage from those with early copies has looked pretty smooth but given that the issues reviewers experienced were frequent and severe enough to mention (when reviewers tend not to notice that sort of thing) so we can't really be sure. Could be a difference in the review and retail build. In any case, the day 1 patch isn't publicly available yet and that's supposed to address performance.

If this is what we're getting on the Playstation 4 Sony Computer Entertainment System less than 2 years after launch, what will end of the gen be like??

Some of the pics and gifs i've seen in here are just ridiculous
Obviously this is the best we'll see because the PS4 has already been maxed out. /s

On a more serious note, I can't imagine how good games will look at the end of the generation. And the big hitters like ND and SSM have not even released their games yet.

Thanks Gaf I did not wanted to buy this game at launch because I do not really have the money right now (well I do but I do not want to spend it). But now I kind do.
*making happy and angry face*

Intresting discussion from PC Games Hardware:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u-o5dAjPZFk

Because its in german here are a couple intresting things:

- huge world, huge stage for the story
- you can play the game without knowing the witcher 1/2 and the books, but you get more out of the game as a fan, a lot of fan service,a lot of characters from previoues games and books
- you meet characters that could have died in previous games, triggers long quest, even shows up in the main quest
- no typical fetch quests like kill ten rabbits
- every quest has its own story, even small sidequests and monster hunting contracts
- first half of main story, to much person finding
- overused witcher senses
- exp only for quests, not for monsters, always needs 2000 exp per lvl, so each quest stays relevant, even if you have a much higher lvl
- skill system not that great, fighting in the beginning didn´t vary that much from fighting in the later parts of the game, but a lot of fun throughout the game
- respec potion
- highlights of the game are design of the world and questdesign, maybe new benchmark for questdesign
- game not that hard, they played on normal
- weirdly huge falling damage
- 6 weeks old review version
- framerate drops in crowded areas/areas with a lot of effects, but never takes away from the gameplay
- long loading times
- annoying candles that distract/hinder from collecting loot/items and there are a lot of candles
- downgrade yes but it still looks amazing on PS4
- brilliant facial animations

This guy clearly knows what he's doing, captured it in 1080p with a good capture card and even rendered it out at 60fps despite being 30fps because YouTube compresses 60fps less (or so I hear) to show off the best quality he can... then the gameplay make you think he's never played a video game before. Surely the controls aren't as bad as he's making them out to be.

Sounds fantastic!

I'll be going digital, so installing this game onto my 1TB SSHD. Hopefully, a nice performance boost - seems like a game that would benefit from a digital full game install.

Not only is every video game ever made digital, also every game on PS4 is completely installed to and run from the hard drive (or SSD or SSHD).

There is no performance difference at all between disc and download. The only thing is that the disc needs to be in drive for an initial licence check, and the very first few minutes of play may stutter a bit while the game is installed.

That's what I look like using mouse and keyboard, but he's using a controller!

Both excellent.

whaaa..??

Same as Witcher 2.

If you run around blinding hitting X/A hoping to get good loot without looking at what you are doing, you will sometimes interact with objects that are not loot.

In this case, candles, when you hit interact on a candle, Geralt either blows it out, or lights it with Ingni.

Basically, you shouldn't just button mash while playing games. As a general rule.

Also, what's with these you tubers bunny hopping around and running into walls all the time. God awful to watch. Blows my mind that people actually play like that.

i thank you, my friend.

Quick question:

Is it correct that you don't gain XP from killing monsters, bandits, etc?

What's the point engaging in fights (outside of some loot and if they're maybe guarding treasure) ?

Self defense and money making. Killing Nekkers and Harpies in W2 was extremely lucrative.
