For anyone worried about the gamepad's battery life, you should know that there are plenty of USB charge cables out there. For less than $10 bucks you can game as long as you want on the without worrying about the gamepad's battery life.

I always have the charger in the gamepad, even when I'm playing. That cable is very long so I never have trouble finding a power outlet nearby.
 
I have the charging cradle on a table next to my couch so it's always charged

and I have the extended battery

hopefully that will be enough for my Splatoon-binging sessions

shit's about to get real brehs
 
Gave my cousin (6) the GamePad.
He looooooves the colours. All he wants to do is paint everything green.

Edit: Two sticks is a bit tough for him and the GamePad is pretty big, so I changed the controls to Gyro and now he's acing it.
 
i'm steadily getting angrier the game isn't in my hands yet

i've been drawing mountains of fanart but it just isn't the same
 
What are your favourite color combinations so far?
From what I've seen I really like Light Green+Pink (looks like bubblegum) and Light Blue+(Orange/Pink)

I've got the red-green super eyes thingy going on, all combinations are fine but pink and blue. It can be tough to distinguish them sometimes.

Any particular reason you started him off on the more complex and inferior control scheme? :)

I love that combo. iirc there's a green/pink combo where the green is a bit lighter and more pastel looking than that screen.

I also love the green/purple combos

Green+Pink is my favorite, even though my favorite color is purple. That color combo looks so vibrant and lively in Splatoon.
 
I hated the motion controls to start with, switched to the sticks but eventually I got the hang of aiming with the gamepad and wouldn't switch back now. It's a lot quicker.

It really just takes a little time and not fighting the controls. You have to learn them. Glad more are doing so.

It also never stops surprising (this is just me putting this out there in general) me how many people that claim to be Nintendo fans but refuse to learn new control schemes. If one is a long time Nintendo fan (and some claim to be) that should be old hat by now. Learning how to play a game shouldn't be an issue at all but it seems for some people or they're just outright lying about being long time Nintendo fans for some reason. If one actually tries and it doesn't click that's one thing. The attempt is there. I'm talking about those that refuse to learn at all and then will trash talk something as a result.
 
UK press codes still haven't been sent out. Particularly frustrating as we've already missed the first organised online MP event and at this rate we'll miss the next one scheduled tomorrow.

Yesssss I think I might go digital with Splatoon. Want to play with y'all since the first day! In my case I would have to delete Metroid prime trilogy but it'll be worth it. I'm still a physical person and I like to have dem boxes displayed on my shelf but I can't justify paying 80 dollars for this game just because a bunch of people decided to increase videogame prizes in Mexico.

Orange + blue. I guess that's technically the classic Splatoon color scheme, but the color contrast between the two is more appealing to my eyes.

Being on the pink team is awesome too, though. Love painting over all that green.

Nintendo also sells the official AC adapter for the GamePad fairly cheaply on their website.

I wouldn't unreservedly recommend a USB GamePad charge cable. The GamePad is compatible with USB voltage, but can draw far more than the standard USB 0.5 amps. It will charge slowly or not at all while plugged into USB and using the GamePad in my experience (if you have a nonstandard USB port that puts out 1.6 amps without any sort of negotiation you're fine but my Mac USB ports and the Wii u USB ports won't do that).

Very strange! I didn't deal with Nintendo directly, I got it via my editor, but there's definitely a few UK peeps on there - me (N-E), Alex from Nintendolife, plenty of other Europeans... maybe if there's still a batch to go out that'll make getting an online match easier!

Myself and two other colleagues are waiting on a code so I assume there are more also. Oh well, fingers crossed for tomorrow now I guess.

They've already been posted on 4chan before. Want spoilers?

Humans killed themselves with pollution, Squids arive. Squids start turf wars in some egypt thing. Squids and Octalings went to war at somepoint. Octalings had superior weaponry but Squids had a natural advtange. Now Octalings are trying to get light from the Squids to survive, but over the course of the campaign you stop that. Rather or not Octalings will survive remain to be seen.

Also, Judd is from when people were around. Got frozen in space. Squids found him. Fought in the war with them too apparently.

Not a sunken scroll spoiler but a big spoiler for completing the campaign:
You get Octaling gear.
