To be honest AO is better on PC.

1m2u6h.jpg

Also Grass density is a bit higher (maybe 5% - 10%)

AO is better here again and there is a bit more grass.

Even shadow resolution seems to be a bit higher (but it is hard to tell from a YT video... as always)

But overall, the game is 1:1 the same. Of course 30 - 60 fps will make a huge difference but when ultra PC settings are as good looking as a console version, then something is wrong for a mainly on PC developed titel.

Listen. Ihave a theory that is the most plausible and may answer this once and for all for you. The nude Yennefer with towel on her head seems to be the default version. The one with both bra and underwear seems to be the one from the middle east and the one with underwear only seems to be from Germany and the last two have gore censored too (well german one must surely be more ceonsored in gore but less in nudity). This is after seeing much videos and collecting infos. I hope this may relieve you a little.

All games are developed ON PC.

This game just so happens to not be developed FOR PC.

Wrong. There are only 2 versions in retail. Dawg is from Germany. Check his PS4 version. Look up his screens posted on twitter

I think AO is pretty much the same there. That's why I think either the console versions are using HBAO or it's just not working in the build they're using there.
Nvidia's HBAO looks noticeably different from SSAO. Like, you can immediately notice the difference without question.

This was posted in another thread:
It's ironic how he looks kinda like Jamie Kennedy and has the same unfunny shtick.

Unfortunately when the argument gets reduced to that, it becomes a carte blanche acceptance of developer lying. I doubt anything will change with other big titles, but must we bend over entirely?

2 versions in global retail for nudity. Censored and uncensored. The semi censored version is a mystery

Towel on head, no underwear nor bra
No towel, underwear, no bra
No towel, underwear and bra.
?
Maybe Towel Technology is a Nvidia Gameworks exclusive feature

I found this an interesting read. Not sure of its legitimacy.

It has been, and it's a large part of why I feel the hardware companies are more at fault than CDPR.

While that doesn't give them the right to lie to us now, I can absolutely see how them screwing us was a result of hardware devs screwing them.

If they had released a controlled insider leak like this 3 months ago and then just kept their mouths shut instead of straight up lying publically, I would bet good money the backlash would of been minimal to non-existent by release time.

Yeah you would of gotten a vocal group temporarily pissed about consoles causing the PC sacrifice but CDPR would of kept their good guy reputation and likely had more sympathy after the dust settled knowing they were put in an untenable position given limitations and finite resources.

But instead they have done what they did and they deserve all that they are getting and probably more. I have no sympathy given how they have handled this and after posters pointing out that they are STILL using false footage during installation of the actual game I am beginning to disdain this company for what they have done.

Don't accuse people of going out of there way misinform others when you have no idea what the context was. Someone in the twitch stream asked if the footage is with the day one patch, the moderator literally replied with "yes, it has the patch". I then posted here saying that the stream mod said the footage had the day one patch. Apparently I'm going out of my way to misinform others? The only ridiculous thing here is your assumption.

Wrong again, NO DAY ONE PATCH. They will get it on Monday and they said it several times. But you have proven countless times that you only hear what you want to hear, posted low res twitch screenshots and made pointless PC vs PS4 comparisons. You Sir are a fountain of misinformation and a day one grade A moran. Congrats.

You can tell the particles in the GPU PhysX screen are still more densely packed before they start dispersing. I've seen that demo using PhysX and it looks better with it enabled. The way the particles swirl and disperse looks way more dynamic than the static looking non-PhysX variant.
Disagree. The in-house particle solution looks much nicer in motion. Very similar to the original Unrea engine 4 demo. The Phys-X particles never fully disperse in the same manner. There is a greater density to the particles but the way they move looks a lot less impressive. Deck 13's own solution is definitely the way to go.

Someone needs to ask the devs about that for clarifications. I won't ask them for that particular matter, sorry.
:p

No worries. I think I know the answer already. I've known it for days. Now it's just a matter of confirming it first hand. Just a day to go anyway

So lets put on our tin foil heads.

But this looks more like parity between all three systems, then just a downgrade. The Xbox One and PS4 versions are very close to each other and the PS4 and PC version is also nearly identical. Do you think this has something to do with the Microsoft PR deal, because Microsoft doesn't want the Xbox ONE to look way behind (graphicly speaking)? Is it 'Unity' all over again?

the eve of a new generation is supposed to be a magical time, but overestimating specs and crossgen drawbacks have left a bitter aftertaste ;_;

i sincerely hope the hardware makers are able to subtly guide devs in the right direction next time around so this sort of stuff can be avoided.

Honestly, at this point CDPR and their parent company (CDP) would have been better off coming clean back in 2014. Admit that they deliberately downgraded the game for reasons A, B and C. Would some gamers be upset? Yes...but they'd soon get over it and most of them would likely buy the game anyway. The whole issue would have likely blown over well before now.

By doing all this denying, CDP may have dug themselves a much bigger hole. Much of their goodwill with a large percentage of PC gamers is now in jeopardy.

I don't fault CDPR (the dev studio itself) too much. The directive to downgrade likely came from their parent company, possibly with a bit of encouragement from Microsoft and to a lesser extent Sony. It was a business decision, just like Watch_Dogs and other games that went for parity.

CDP is still a fairly young company; they've only been known for 8-10 years. I hope that this is just chalked up to "inexperience" mistakes and they can learn from them...instead of them being rotten at the core (like EA/Ubi).

I am not sure how a partial MS marketting deal could be responsible for apparent parity. Rather, it is a matter of developer choice. The current gen twins are so similar that their apparent differences (primarily resolution) are understandable. The lack of differences in the PC SKU at higher settings implies that the capabilities of modern PCs were pretty much ignored.

It is not as if the game is ugly all of a sudden, but it is hard to stomach that ultra is basically a slightly better high... instead of introducing a wide range of heavy effects work.

Man, this thread is moving crazy fast now. (nothingstopsthistrain.gif)

Quick question, and sorry if this has already been discussed (it has, I don't doubt), but do we have any idea whether the 35-minute demo is still representative of the game on PC, or was it 'pre-downgrade'? I mean, it was released about 9 months ago, that should at least be almost identical to the end product, shouldn't it?

I don't think it's as easy as "Lol Microsoft told them to make PS4 and PC versions ugly".
Hell I'm more inclined to believe their engine is at fault and that there are engine limitations that they realised much too late into development that they couldn't overcome.

Why piss off 2/3rds of potential customers because big papa Microsoft said so?

Oh please they could have still kept the graphics the same or similar as 2013 if they wished but they didnt

Please tell me, what the hell is going on. It doesn't make sense to me. Conan video had towel and ass, while the video of gronkh (also pre-release version) had no towel and no naked ass. While other PS4 version do have towel and ass.

Too much ass here.

Wait one more day. Why do you think i made that mind fuck of a GIF? Proof, towels, crow are all coming. I think. If they don't.... well... everyone's fucked. We can all get our pitchforks ready then

Experience in the industry isn't required to understand lying to customers is wrong.

I have a theory - could this be a form of copy protection? They said that the PC Version is missing some parts that you have to download on releas day.

PC version has no copy protection as it's a GoG game.

It's crossed my mind. I'm sure I will get a tag quote but it does make you wonder. After all the game has been in development a while and CDPR probably assumed like most that Microsoft would be the industry leader again and thus because of PC and Xbox it was in their interest to keep the relationship strong.

I mean they have pretty much admitted they developed around the lowest common denominator. The question is whether that was 1.) out of necessity 2.) if they could have realistically maximized further or kept in technical features for the ps4 and PC versions but chose not to due to contractual agreements with Microsoft.

Those questions will likely never be proven and will be left to speculation and conspiracy.

Either way it isn't as bad as unity where unity literally gimped ps4 optimization to achieve as close to a true parity as possible. Unity basically half assed their other versions to try and drag them down while CDPR may have downgraded the baseline to the lowest common denominator and been unwilling to add too many core additional features like lighting and particles. And maybe that was unnecessarily done but they have maximized each version from that downgraded starting point to the best of their abilities.
