Eh, the industry's due for a crash. Why not accelerate it, right?no, theyre really not. you may think they are, but in the grand scheme of things, all of this faux outrage will not add up to jack shit in the end.
thats why this is all so funny

False advertising is a ludicrous stretch at the very best. It feels like the onus should more be on you as a videogame fan - someone at least tangentially familiar with the process of how games are made - to recognize that games take a long time to make and have to go through numerous revisions in reaction to an untold number of both outside and internal factors to come to market.
This has been the case since forever, and it's extremely easy to understand why that is the case if you just sit down and think for a moment about the actual process of turning chunks of code into a globally successful product. The final iteration of the Withcher 3 that I have been observing with my own eyes this past week looks utterly amazing, completely within the scope (and often surpassing) what I saw of media from years ago for the game.
Thinking about the normal process of videogame creation as some kind of scandal just seems completely naive and ignorant to me.
I hope so. I mean the textures seem fine, and the lighting does look great at times. To get the sort of lighting and mood the initial reveal had you could probably replicate that with ENB or Reshade or whatever it's called. The only things I can see which are missing are particle effects (grass flying from the left), and realistic smoke (chimneys) .

The smoke still exists. I was watching a stream the other day, and the houses still had smoke coming from the chimneys. Couldn't tell if they were as good as that .gif (twitch and all that).
And you think it won't pay off?
Just compare the reception that the Watchdogs E3 reveal trailer got, and the reception that the AC Syndicate reveal trailer got. As long as the Internet drowns in hypocrisy, the developers aren't going to change their tactics.
Worth it.
Haha, the guy playing at http://www.twitch.tv/CohhCarnage imported his W2 save and Geralt still has the tattoo. You know the one![]()
You'd prefer not TOD?

I went there and took a glance at his channel and was immediately turned off. Full of advertisements, asking for donations, stupid sound effects and logos plastered on the video stream.
It reminded me of why I dislike Twitch now.

What's TOD? The details over distance?
But have you seen the tattoo? ^^
Erm, yes they are, they fucked up. Enjoy.
Time of day. Typically dynamic transitions. Like seen in GTA5 and Crysis.
What's TOD? The details over distance?
AC:U buildings can look like shit from far away. Witcher 3 grass looks like shit from far away or close depending on what asset they used (saw the low quality grass from a distance and upclose in the 2013 trailer, posted a screenshot last night).
Give me the term you would call displaying knowingly unrepresentative footage of the game upon installation of said game? Using said unrepresentative footage in current marketing material for said game. Knowing the footage isn't representative of the game and then not only denying a downgrade happened but promising it will surpass early footage in the face of evidence tag proves that is a false statement and was at the time..
No but I read your comment and it's making me want to play Witcher 2 again and finish it this time.
thanks? i will? im not butt hurt over the development of the game? dont know what you want.
but keep fighting the good fight bro. cdpr will rue the day they fucked with you.
Fuck that. I'm an intelligent consumer that understands the realities of how this stuff is made. I can be trusted to understand that media from a "game in progress" (let alone one that is 2+ years away from completion!) should not be taken as 100% final.
Great. Now let us know how you feel about them saying the game was never downgraded.
How do you marketing geniuses propose to advertise a game that doesn't exist yet? Would you rather publishers wait until a month from the release day before they show you what the game looks like?

The whole thing is even more ridiculous because the final iteration of the game is utterly gorgeous.
It's amazing they even responded to this non-controversy. CDPR has always been a classy company.
Slightly better lighting, particle effects and better foliage is all I think that's needed to get the game close to this gif. And I'm no games developer but I would think these 3 things aren't exactly hard to add into the game. It's not like you need hundreds of man hours to create new textures for everything to get it close to the reveal trailer.
They won't have much credibility going forward either.
It's the slap in the face CDPR told us to expect from PC Ultra.
Highly recommend that everyone watch the CohhCarnage stream

Foliage is sharp as hell when the camera isn't moving too much and compression + blur kicks in
We should just remove that gif from the internet, or we'll never move on, the game is never gonna look like that, even after 10 mods

Considering the reviews and the amount of pre orders they had I bet they will be fine.

Watching it now.. PC version?
TOD is worth it if the engine is good.

LOL, artsi.
Let's see the next time they show off a gameplay video for an upcoming game.
We also have no way of telling how many people preordered counting on the impressive graphics (they pretended that had and then defended) to immerse them in the game.
This still blows my mind. Kojima Productions are goddamn wizards. It's such a shame MGSV will be their last game.
RIP![]()
Watching it now.. PC version?
Okay, but there's still a downgrade present.regardless of any downgrades that happened, im willing to bet people will still be impressed by and subsequently immersed in the graphics of the game.
just throwing that out there.
Yes, it doesn't matter the tech (the guts of the engine) as long it is good to the naked eye.
I haven't been able to watch a video with hairworks, when one is posted and i find out about it is either down or privateMan, anyone saying that Hairworks looks bad... I don't know man, it looks amazing to me!

EDIT: ON THE HORSE! The hairworks on the hrose is soooo gooodGerals't implementaiton is like an 8, but the hrose, it's like an 11. Looks so amazin.
Lol, he just got kicked by his horse for like 1/2 his life.

This looks like a downgrade and not just a simple pallet change like some people are claiming![]()
As someone who isn't that much of a graphics whore, this is pretty disappointing.
