Halo 5 Guardians: #huntthetruth

Wow, that's some pretty heavy stuff going down. The bit about the missiles firing off spontaneously?
The Precursors are coming!

As for the leaks, I think Poodlestrike might be onto something. Perhaps Petra is playing a role as well, making him think he's cheating the system and has backup.

Spartans have always been killing citizens. On Reach I remember myself shooting everyone of them. So whats the problem here?

Fantastic episode again, this just keeps getting better and better. Not buying that Chief is a traitor at all. He's either done something to seriously piss someone off to frame him or those people were not who they are making them out to be.

Still can't see what the angle is here and who is really pulling the strings. ONI framing Chief doesn't make much sense as they are still getting alot of backlash from it by colonists. Halsey leaking all this to hurt ONI again makes no sense as she would never want to hurt one of her Spartans, they are her greatest achievement and she would not want their legacy tainted. Serin wants Halsey but surely she wouldn't want to ONI on the chopping block along and also hurting Chiefs reputation.

The only obvious enemy that would want to cause all this civil unrest and possible fighting within Humanity are the alien species but who would have the means to orchestrate all of this.

ONI kills colonists and steals their children yo

Each episode just keeps getting better... I hope it actually culminates to something worthwhile.

I don't know why, but I feel like Halo 5 will begin around the time the "peace talks" are "interrupted" by "MC".

I can't believe everyone is thinking that the Master Chief did it. Everyone knows that you can just walk in to a dollar store and buy a set of MJOLNIR.

Seriously though, the Chief wouldn't do something like that unless he had a good reason. He grew up being told that he "was the protector of Earth and all her colonies", and I'm sure he's still following that idea.

Though its not like he has a mandate to protect all human life, he was created to put down the insurgency. We don't know much more about this peace meeting either.. Killing them could still be in the "greater good".

Love this so much.

The outer colonists need to grow up. "Oh woe is me! I'm being persecuted!" None of this crap would have happened if they just laid down their arms and surrendered. You can't commit acts of terrorism and then whine when bad stuff happens. Sorry, but I'm glad my tax credits didn't go towards protecting some third world colony when the Covenant attacked.

Lol

Even if it wasn't for the greater good, it's important that Chief probably believes it is.

Lol

Totally should have been one of the user-submitted messages, dammit.

Interesting throwback to what I assume was the halo legends Homecoming episode

http://halo.wikia.com/wiki/Homecoming

Yeah shit's getting weird. But #TeamChief nonetheless.

I see Halo 5 generally going

Locke: Enough is enough im here to stop u cheif
Chief: Nah man let me show you the T R U T H
Locke: oh shit you were right lemme help you out

I would love to play that section as Master Chief in Halo 5, just mowing through the embassy as a 7' tall bad ass. Even if only to setup the reason Locke is hunting Master Chief.

Pretty much. Not to mention the fact that a lot of key people shrugged off his warning about the Didact and thought he was making shit up. Like Halo 4 mentioned, John isn't exactly a social person so it's not like he can just run around screaming about how we're all going to die. He has to do it because the people in charge aren't willing to do it.

Totally should have been one of the user-submitted messages, dammit.

Haha I wish. If there is another message thing like that, I would be more than happy to let them use it. I don't have a great voice so they'll have to get someone else to read it.

Lol

Ahaha, well played.

OT: This is so ridiculously well done fam. I can't.

Also

"FERO, Rebel Leader"

Rebels vs ONI vs Storm Covenant vs Flood?!

I think its just Covenant now, the Storm only applies to certain sub sections I think.

But yeah, where does the UNSC proper, Sons of Sanghelios and Blur Team fit in! I am excite.

It will be strange if were killing other humans (on purpose) in a Halo game.

Could 343i go super dark and make Mr. Halo a real bad guy? I don't think so, but you never know. Maybe the Ur-Didact managed some kind of mutation on him!

Also, so glad they revealed the cast, they need to do the crew next, everyone involved with this needs their due credit, its fan-fucking-tastic.

To be fair, the UNSC and Spartans were murderizing the hell out of the insurgency.

0) PIVOTAL
1) I'd like to reiterate my love for Mshak. "Wow, you say? For the next one, you WILL BE WOW", loosely paraphrased
2) Methinks
the peace meeting may have been an ONI plot, maybe assassination or something, and Chief prevented the killing of someone high up in alien politics (Arbiter? but why would ONI kill him...I dunno)
3) Does FERO sound like Jennifer Hale more, now that the voice modulator is turned down? But is it Cortana-Hale or voice-actress-recycling-Hale, like they did with Palmer (and the same question remains for that)?

They released all of the voice actors for hunt the truth today. FERO is voiced by Janina Gavankar. http://news.xbox.com/2015/05/games-hunt-the-truth-podcast-episode-8

Is it possible that ONI had someone, like an ONI-loyal SPARTAN IV impersonate Master Chief?

A part of me wants to believe that the Ambassador was a clone or had been replaced by a clone at the end. lol.

Chief probably acted for the greater good of things. It's just unclear (for now) so that 343i can grab some Team Locke supporters.

THE GREATER GOOD

Edit: This episode gives the hunt the truth live action ads a bit more context. Chiefs definitely gone rouge and is acting outside of ONI's jurisdiction, working for a cause that outweighs the lives of peace and politicians. My bet is on it having to do with the mantle and those Forerunner Guardian things. If what he's doing is not a bit edgy, then there will be too much bias towards his side.

Backing the Chief all the way. There's a very good explanation for what he did. Either things aren't quite what they seem, or he's being framed and the video is an elaborate forgery. With all the technology humanity has access to, faking something like this wouldn't be very hard for them.

However, I'm seriously leaning in the direction where I want it to be real. I just await the explanation for what's really going on.

Question:

The UNSC literally has holodeck technology (Infinity War Games simulator). Does the general public know this?

Unidentified NMPD officer says hi.

Sigh.

As I said, we haven't really faced off against humans proper. Especially as a Spartan. Since standard humans are weaker than standard Sanghelli I image it would be like tearing through tissue paper.

Hope someone figured out the Stolen Gauntlet protocol..

I believe in you Chief

That Homecoming reference was great. Really sad too...

#TeamChief

Can someone give me a spoiler tagged summary?
Shit just got real

Fero released a leak about the Chief being seen sabotaging a peace treaty meeting that had been in the works for a while. Apparently he also assassinated one of the guys from the meeting. Galaxy is shitting bricks. Then another leak with video footage from the sabotage was released. Chief (or someone posing as him) was in it.
DUN DUN DUNNNNN

Or did you want the whole series?

For some reason after listening to the episode I just couldn't get this quote out of my head.

Why use John? Why vilify him in public?

Because we have to chase him. Because he's the hero Gotham deserves, but not the one it needs right now, so we'll hunt him. Because he can take it, because he's not a hero. He's a silent guardian, a watchful protector, a Dark Knight.
Relevant... sort of

Really though nice comparison

I don't think we're going to be killing humans in the actual game. This'll likely just be info in the story's background. Maybe it'll be in the introductory cutscene, or some other cutscene or terminal in the game. There's no indication yet that we're going to actually be killing any humans in-game, and considering the precedent, I don't think we'll be starting to.

Chief's murdered dudes in the extended Halo universe before, after all, and it never really meant anything in the games.

That is, of course, if Chief actually is the one in the video doing it, or if the context of what he's doing is missing. Hell, the actual video itself could be manipulated, I'm sure ONI has that kind of tech.

Finally got caught up after missing about 5 weeks. And this is one hell of a ride! I never something like this could turn out so interesting and exciting!

Now onto other matters. The gap between Halo 4 and Halo 5 seems to be littered with books and the comic Ascension. I read my fair share of the forerunner saga and a bit of the kilo-five trilogy and read halopedia to get read up in time for 4.

How are the quality of the books between Halo 4 to Halo 5? Are they something to divulge into or should I just read the lighter Halo Ascension series in the mean time?
