Well, to be fair, once we have all of the queen's weapons already, the keys will just act as some kind of bonus chance at an exotic. And since the exotic weapons for this extension are locked behind bounties / ToO, the hardcore will soon only be running PoE35 for a chance at the elemental primaries.

Yeah, I'm not as hardcore as the majority of DGAF, yet I'll be reaching 300 this week if Xur doesn't stock any HoW gear...

I GUARANTEE nearly EVERYONE here has heard some of Mr. Baker's work... most just don't know him by name.

The weapon/armor cores are the only thing locked out weekly. You can get as many keys as you want.

Get them from Ether Chests, turning in wanted bounties to Petra, beating the story, and from the small chests in PoE.

I had a bad headache last night and I was bummed out on constant wipes, woke up this morning without it and then I saw so many people get to level 34...so I was sucked back in. I still believe that that particular round is the absolute low of this game for me personally. Thing is 6 player raids and PvP are the reason why I have kept playing this game. This type of game mode (i.e. horde mode) doesn't appeal to me at all especially with just 3 player.

Basically I was playing a mode that I dislike that was full of everything I detest about Destiny (level disadvantage, swarming you with enemies, modifiers that are heavily against you), without having any keys (so no rewards outside of etheric light) and failing at it while having a headache.

Whoa Petra's bounties give more then rep? Or does she give you a weekly reward for finishing them?

You can do PoE as many times as you want. You only gain rep once a week from the 32 and above arenas though while 12 rep points per round completed in PoE28. There's no limit to the latter.

Keys you can get from the small chest in the Treasure Room at the end of a PoE, on one of the chests that spawn after killing a Wolves Leader on patrol on either Venus, Moon, or Earth, and from doing some of Petra's bounties. All of them are RNG though.

I've done it twice now, and definitely improving, but I have to say our strategy both times was reliant on a Bladedancer for stealth, and heavily eased by a Defender titan for spot cover. Pure warlocks on that section is a major challenge.

Still, aspects of the strategy we came to rely on could help. First, there's a very defensible wall/alcove you can set up as "home base" by immediately running along the left wall all the way to the dead end you'll find there- with no spawn doors! The initial entry spot out of the airlock is such a chokepoint it's easy to get caught in the arc crossfire, and really can't be relied upon.

Once the team is set up there, round 1 is completely simple, just an ammo pickup round. When Round 2 is about to start, the main mine defuser/Bladedancer runs out all the way to the other side of the map (where the furthest mine can spawn). This is useful not just because if the first mine spawns there it can be capped immediately, but because they'll have a good vantage point to fire back at the wizard(s) that spawn, so they're being shot at from both sides. If the first mine is the closest one to the home base wall, the other two can cap it; any other spawn and the defuser goes for it. After the second one you'll basically know where the third is going to spawn since it can't be either of the first two spots. It's better to help kill wizards ASAP than to dismantle mines early- as long as you get there with 8 seconds or more to spare it can be dismantled. Doing it without stealth of any kind seems pretty rough though- actually, Patience and Time might be a godsend for that round for non-Hunter crews. Once the mines are down, the defused can go back to the wall/corner and help hold out against whatever's left- when you're down to just one or two mobs, then the defused can head back out to that far spot before Round 3 begins.

75% or more of the danger in that round is just being able to fire at the wizards without being killed. A 365 Thunderlord can put in some serious work and may be the right call over Gjallarhorn if you have one for this round.

Lol how the hell noomi, also all those trials of osiris coins are they the sum of all of your three characters?

(Also are you still looking to do PoE 34 today?)

Edit: Damn I'm only sitting at 375 strange coins

That's everything I've been hoarding for the last few months, I store everything on my main hunter. The passage coins I've been doing 3x daily crucible matches and keeping them on my main. Plus you get some from completing the new story missions as well.

Still looking to do a level 34PoE today, but we already have a crew setup, sorry bud. If anything changes though, I'll be sure to let you know :)
 
Alright, so... got one character to 33 via an armor core from lvl 32 PoE --> gauntlet purchase.

Now, in order to get to level 34 I need to do what? Etheric light on the other two pieces of armor and an upgraded exotic = 34?

Will Variks or whatever his name is sell a different piece of gear next week for an armor core? I guess I could just wait until he sells all three pieces? Yeah, yeah, I know I'd be behind in terms of PoE... but whatever.

I was clear when I said VoG's difficulty comes from the mechanics, it was hard not because it threw cheap enemies at you or put you at a disadvantage it was hard because it required you to master its mechanic. Still to this day it is hard to play if you try to play it in any way that's not the tried and tested method that everyone uses (i.e. things like doing both gates at a time instead of one at a time, doing oracles and templar from down rather than cheesing from up, not hiding in the spirit bloom cave), the technicality of the raid reveals itself when you do that because otherwise you are just following what everyone has been doing i.e. a successful strategy that works.

Best example I can give is, a complex math problem becomes easy if you practice the solution itself 10 times. And despite the fact that you are familiar with the problem, a different take on the problem in the form of a different question might still provide a little bit of challenge. In either cases it does not make the problem itself an easy problem.

Yea pretty sure Variks will be RNG (or whatever Xur is). I'm guessing he'll sell boots next week.

But you're exactly right. 2 Etheric on the other L36 armor to hit 34

Yup, use Etheric light on two armor pieces, or use a weap/arm core for a judgments chance for a random roll that might give you another piece of wolves armor.

Variks is supposed to rotate inventory each week, so he might have our next piece on Tuesday.
 
So I've got a question about the new expansion. I stopped playing my character at around level 27, barely touched VoG and didn't play any Dark Below at all. I'm thinking about getting the new expansion, but I don't want to be crippled in progression, because I didn't get the previous expansion. Can i still levelled up enough to do the new end game stuff?

For 34 right now, you'll need:

2 Ascended Legendary armor gear
1 ascended Exotic
1 PoE armor

Variks' stuff changes weekly from what we were told. Expect to see a new armor piece and weapon next week.
 
That's all correct, Narmer. There are multiple very direct paths to 34, even if you don't play intensively at all it's just a matter of time and zero RNG. It's an enormous departure from the level plateaus that came at launch and TDB.

The Etheric Light from IB did appear to be non-RNG (one-per-IB presumably available for purchase upon reaching Rank 3, and another on Rank 5).

You won't be crippled. It's very easy and straightforward to get to level 32 right now in a number of ways- if you link me to your Bungie profile I can even spell out the easiest path- and that will put you in position to do VoG as much as you like as well as lots of the new content. And if you ever decide to pick up TDB you'll be capable of doing that raid as well.

I think your best bet at this point is to grind some Roc Strikes, stock up on engrams and vanguard marks, and then purchase whatever you can from the vanguard/crucible vendors to get your Guardian to level 32.

Then you can start running prison of elders :)

You will need all four slots at the same Light level as the gloves you got from Variks, yeah.

Variks' armor and weapon selections are supposed to be on a cycle, so next week he should have something different from gloves and auto rifle.
 
Probably gonna call it a week. Done PoE 28/32/34 on two characters, and 28/32 on my third. Have an Armor Core ready for my Titan next week and can run the 34 twice for another shot at Judgment's Chance. Might run VoG this weekend and hope the Warlock boots drop, so I can ascend those next week. Once I get my Titan and Warlock to 34 I'll start working on my Hunter.

Oh,and I'll run the Weeklies this weekend, too. Have enough coins for when Xur shows up tomorrow.

Any Xboners willing to do VoG, either NM or HM, this weekend, let me know.

Back to the Witcher I go.
 
I never had this crazy coin surplus everyone seems to. I have like around 100 or something. Definitely gonna do a weekly or two before reset just cause Xur might clean me out if he's got new collectibles.

I will also be looking for a full group of 33s to kick the shot out of Hard CE before the newbie raid tonight if anyone is interested.
