I will agree with all of this apart from one thing, this is the first wii u game that i've played where i would kill for some anti-aliasing.
I'm a fare way through the story mode and and it's the only thing this game is missing.
It would look stunning with just a little but i'm glad they chose 60fps instead, fingers crossed for the NX sequel.

Content-wise, the testfire today is the same as the one from a couple weeks ago. Turf war, same four loadouts, on the Rig and the Warehouse. Since it's mainly for server-test purposes, that shouldn't be much of a surprise.

I forgot to archive the footage, which is a shame because last night had some good matches. Not sure if anyone saw the match that ended 40.0 to 40.2.

Well, you're in "luck": I did leave the Eurovision song contest party I was attending early, only to find out nobody was able to connect to the servers, much less play any matches.

Half an hour of error messages later: Great fun (and no idea who won, though it's probably Russia)!

Edit: I'm IN! The tutorial at least - which I'll try to savor as long as I can...
 
So the SmashCentral guy had a stream today and he mentioned there is some sort of Review Copy only Event at 5pm PT / 8pm ET and he's gonna stream it. The event has people trying to get a high score in Turf War or something. The person then gets a picture of the scoreboard and can send it to a rep and get a prize. He's a Canadian, so not sure if this is some Canada only thing, though I doubt it.

I can understand them not wanting to lock a unique weapon set behind Amiibo, since they want to make sure everything keeps balanced, but this is still weirdly disappointing for me, since even if I wanted to get better with a charger, I'd rather it be with a different subweapon. Not the worst loadout in the world I suppose, but it wouldn't be my preference.

I know this has probably been asked a million times already so please accept my apologies, but do we know when the review embargo is up yet?

Edit: I've now discovered it's on Wednesday :)

I think the embargo is up 2 days before release according to GameXplain (I may have misheard what André said).

At $60 definitely not. The campaign appears pretty short (but seems really cool) and local is restricted to one on one balloon popping for high scores.

It would probably be more worth it if you could find it for $30.

I'm halfway through the story and i would say yes, but only if you can get it for around the same price i paid which was £25.
It's a fun single player so far but it's clear that 80% of the game is based on online interaction.
The local multiplayer is restricted to 1vs1, and it seems almost the entire game is locked behind having a good internet connection,
I haven't been able to test any online matches or buy gear as the server isn't up yet in the uk.( shops kick me out and say come back when i'm online which is weird but i guess it's to stop people levelling up and buying gear too early)
Whilst the story is fun, with some fantastic bosses, it seems you can't buy and use gear in it (at least not yet) due to having to wear a hero suit.
So i'd say get it but only for a similar price to what i paid or even less if possible, especially if the single player is all your going to play, the game really needs a good internet by the looks of it.
 
The .52 Gal? Oooh, I was worried we weren't going to get anymore of these videos before launch.

Edit: The .52 Gal. A slower Splattershot type weapon, it doesn't spray ink as fast as its brethren but it packs a wallop. Two hits take out the ordinary squid. It comes equipped with the Wall Bomb, which sprays ink in a wall that can even blunt the explosions of enemy ink bombs! It also has the Killer Wail, and you should already know how powerful that can be.

Huh? You can use one of the 6 chargers we know about with different sub/special weapons. I don't see why an amiibo Locke weapons will discourage you from doing that.

hmmm, i dunno how i feel about it. the slow fire rate is punishing and the sub-weapon is really tactical in nature. seems to only take up half the ink bar though so it's a little more useful...
 
Given everything being on track the OT will be up around 3PM CEST or so on Wednesday (May 27), which is roughly two hours before the Japanese midnight launch on eShop.

It seems useful for helping to hold on to choke points (you saw them in the demo throwing it into that tiny hallway leading to the upper half of the rig really often) or for some really quick portable cover in an unexpected firefight, but holding a point only works for a short time, as there are so many traversal options to get around or behind that position, so opponents will/should wise up quickly and adjust. I'm not sure how useful it would be in a larger map such as the skate park, but I suppose that sometimes, even just forcing someone to reposition themselves can be enough to give an advantage in an encounter.

Are you kidding?

Put that on a choke point and nothing can pass.

It is a run away or refill ink tool. If someone has a bubble, throw that down and it will block him out until the shield is down for you to attack. I see lots of applications for it. You gotta be creative man.

Really like .52 Gal. It's a defensive weapon, not used for efficiently covering the ground, but to help fend off opponents. High damage output, very interesting secondary and the Wail for some nice area control. Very cool stuff
