I can't imagine it'll take too long for enough people to reach level 10 and it gets released. I'm sure it'll be out by the end of this weekend, assuming it isn't a completely unreasonable barrier for unlocking.

So hype! Probably gonna do nothing but turf war until I hit level 10 so I can contribute to the total "geese population." To me, it sounds like they're just saying everyone needs to wait until enough people are skilled enough, but even if it is going to be a set number of days after launch I'm not sure I'll be able to keep myself from getting there day one

Ye I will do turf war till level 10 then singleplayer until the ranked matches are open.

I was really uninterested in Splatoon until I played the global testfire. It was so much freaking fun! I'm going to purchase digitally on Friday (or preload if that's available) and I'd really love to get a three-pack amiibo set, but I get the feeling they're going to be impossible to find.

Same here. I bought digitally and preloaded (you can download it immediately after buying--at least in the US anyway) and can't wait to fire it up on Friday.
I had a ton of fun with the MP. I suck at competitive mp shooters, but did fairly well in this playing a Roller and focusing more on painting a ton of area while my teammates helped with that and went after enemies. My team probably one 75% of matches, and after the first two or three of learning the ropes (I only played this last testfire as I just rebought a Wii U Friday) I finished 1st or 2nd on my team most matches.
Ok can someone Splat up my Palutena? I'll let you guys determine what color(s) would go best with the goddess

I don't mind admitting that my first impressions of the Ink Balloon have not been very good when it was paired with the Splattershot. I don't like the stats on the Splattershot when it's compared to the Jr., but I don't think the Splattershot has a problem with enemies at close range. Bomb Rush or whatever the special is called with Ink Balloon also feels sort of redundant.
Ink balloons being the close range answer for a Charger weapon has some logic though.

the shops kick you out by saying you need to be online and so does every other option.No servers yet for retail disc owners but i'm guessing it'll be up on thursday.
This is the first game i've got a week early but it's been slightly pointless because 80% of the game requires a server.

I was honestly shocked that i couldn't even browse the items in the shops, very strange.
Each shopkeeper tells you to come back when your 'online', same thing happens when you try multiplayer or talk to the urchin guy/cat, i think it's due to the servers not being up yet.
The advertising warning at the start of the game leads me to believe that the shops stock is being held on the server and will eventually change to include famous brands of clothing.
Basically, the base Splattershot beats most things at range, but has lower damage over time than other splatter type weapons like the Jr. or .52 Gal. If fired upon at the same time, the other weapons will win in burst or will always at least trade in lag compensation situations. The splat balloon helps even out this close range disadvantage and helps make the weapon the premiere all rounder for general combat situations; it's exactly like taking an assault rifle and being the first assaulter in other games. Of course, balloons don't provide area control or denial, which is why I personally dislike them and will prefer to specialize (Roller coming through).

Also, you can't buy any gear until level 4 and weapons at level 2, so you need an internet connection to get the cash for the shops.
