Batman: Arkham Knight Gameplay Video – Time To Go To War

Captured and real time are two different things to me.

Naughty Dog used the exact same term for the U4 trailer.

Can you blame us after all that's being going with these things?

Every developer starts their gameplay videos with "captured from Playstation 4"? What do they need to do to provide sufficient enough proof?

I'm sure I've said this in another thread but the Batmobile is my most anticipated aspect of this game. The open world and graphics are awesome but I want to drive the tank-like Batmobile around Gotham so bad. I even persevered through the mediocre Batman Begins game due to the awesome Burnout driving sections.

Not feeling those hands on write ups, hardly overwhelmingly positive are they, it sounds like they think there's too much going on, and players will get confused with it all.

Lol no one has played the full game yet.

For all we know there are detective aspects like the previous games which haven't been shown and Rocksteady are being tight lipped.

FWIW, I like a bit of extra adrenaline with the Batmobile and dual play feature.

Detective in name only really, hold to scan and that's it. I always wanted something to rival the systems in say the Sherlock Holmes: Crime & Punishment or even the Pheonix Wright series. Navigating the big glowing cursor to the big white patch so that I can hold to scan while Batman monologues doesn't make me feel like a detective.

Even Scarecrow is loud and proud, worthy of standing alongside Wesker in a Resident Evil game
Much like the Nolan movies it feels like we're playing as a big thug and not a genius ninja (which may be realistic on the other hand)

Combat & Gliding is what keeps me hooked to the series. Oh and I loved the Riddler puzzles in Arkham City

Yeah, it's not like companies have ever given us a reason to doubt.

Oh, wait, they have. Multiple times in the past year.

But maybe developers have different ps4s than we do.

what the hell you are talking about?

are you trying to say thats not running on ps4?
thats a cutscene not gameplay there is nothing extraordinary about that
unless you have a final version of u4.

Videos from sources other than the developer of the game.

Believe what you will. I'll wait for videos that aren't showing us exactly what the developer intends to show us.

My point being that CAPTURED DIRECTLY FROM A PLAYSTATION 4 means jack shit.

Yeah, PS4 would probably melt trying to run those graphics, right?

I'm saying that a game saying RUNNING ON A PLAYSTATION 4 or whatever the video says doesn't mean it's indicative of the game we'll be playing.

I'm guessing this is a meme with which I'm not familiar?

It's funny that I would like footage not showing us exactly the section the developer wants us to see, under exactly the situations they want to demonstrate?

Okay. Wicked reaction gif, bro.

If the developer says it's running on PS4, then it's running on PS4. Don't know why people would think they were lying about that.

It better be the actual PS4 version because the game is out in less than a month. If the PS4 version still can't be shown then they've got a major problem.

if i showed you this pic in 2006 and say that pic was capture directly from ps3 you would say im crazy and bish would ban me :P

come on dude there is bunch of examples you could use. the uncharted one is flawed. i mean they could change that scene in final game like light, assets and a bunch of things people would still say downgrade because is different.

He was never this bad before. :(

I actually like the voice acting here more so than in Arkham Asylum or City. Sounds more nuanced whereas before I thought it was flat..

Video: "the following gameplay was captured directly from a Playstation 4."

Some posters on Gaf: "This must be PC footage."

Same exact thing happened with Watch Dogs "PC" footage. Why is it hard to accept PS4 is a beast that can churn out these amazing visuals? :P

I'm guessing this is a meme with which I'm not familiar?

.

Yeah, there was Watch Dogs gameplay video labelled as PC version and people went nuts about how good it looked, one poster even made the "will melt your PS4" comment. Turned out it was PS4 footage after all.

I didn't say I don't think it's possible. I'm just not going to believe everything a developer says. You can take it at face value if you like. I'll wait for other sources.

Also, that says remastered in the link. :P

Ah. Didn't follow Watchdogs at all.

I'm sure naughty dog intended for drake to fall out of the world at psx

This game has really snuck up on me, with all this hype about Witcher 3 I had completely forgotten this was coming out so soon.

Really excited now.

Well I suppose it's fair enough that you think that way. But I just think that it would be stretching the limits of deception if only 4 weeks from launch, they were releasing PC footage marked as PS4, especially from a dev and pub that have a decent track record in this area.

I WANT TO BELIEVE

others sources is meaningless right now. because the game still in development.
i mean people were shitting on ps4 version of the witcher hoping for the amazing lifelike pc version and we all know how it end up.

I completely agree, but none of the stuff recently shown of Batman has been any sort of vertical slice. Or a small cinematic scene that was "rendered in-engine".

But ND wasn't lying with that video. That entire scene which was one character in a small section of a jungle environment was actually running on a PS4. Shocking.

Yeah but It could be running off a dev kit or whatever. I just want confirmation of actual real time game play.

Didn't they use 6 PS3's for the cut scenes?

Uh, not trying to get involved in the argument but that pic looks like it's from the remastered PS4 version of the game seeing that it's a 1080p shot. And someone please correct me if I'm wrong on this as I'm not 100% sure but aren't those cutscenes in TLOU prerendered or something? I'm not quite certain on that one.

On topic, the game looks great. Not sure if I'll have a PS4 by the time it's out but it's definitely one of my most anticipated games. Loved AA and AC.

Cool. I'm hyped once again for this game. This is probably the first promo anything I've watched in at least 8 months. Looks damn good.

Not meaningless for me. :)

I'm not shitting on anything. I think Witcher 3 looks great on PS4 and PC.

Even if this IS PS4, and it probably is, I just don't agree that it DEFINITELY is, short gameplay clips showing us exactly what the developer wants under these specific circumstances don't tell me how the framerate is going to hold up overall.

Looks good for console footage, bodes extremely well for the PC version.
We know it will pack several exclusive high-end effects, can't wait to see them in action.

That interrogation line could've used a few more takes, not the first time this series has had some questionable voice work. I'm still concerned about the story since Paul Dini isn't apparently involved this time around. As for the questioning whether it's actually running on a PS4 talk... It doesn't look THAT amazing, it's also using UE3 which is old as fuck at this point.

If this is how the PS4 version looks... I can't even imagine PC with the Nvidia effects on. Just hope they're well optimized!

Well, Physx at least seems to have made some significant performance/efficiency improvements with multi-threaded support (3.0 was released a few months before AC and I don't think they even used it in Origins) since City so hopefully that's reflected in this game.

It kinda reminded me of Watch_Dogs when I saw it. The open world looked boring, driving looked really bad, gunplay looked bad, only decent thing was the stealth and hacking mechanics from what I saw.

Watch_Dogs felt like it fell off the Assassin's Creed assembly line to me, even without the parkour/climbing (it was annoying so see Aiden being unable to just climb up on a roof even though there could only be like a foot height difference) and more focus on using guns instead of melee weapons, the phone/face recognition stuff was basically its version of eagle vision, they used a version of the viewpoint mechanic for revealing the map which was ridiculous padding and hacking boiled down to a novelty gimmick with no actual depth. Hell, Watch_Dogs would've fit right in with the AC universe if they really wanted to go that route and I'm pretty sure there was intent on doing so at some point considering the parallels.

these demos are well optimised for demonstration purposes. i remember someone here on gaf that work in game development said that his team had to spend a few months to create a demo for e3.

so yeah this demo is probably just for marketing purposes

Ehhh I dunno what to tell you.

Sounds like you wanted an overhaul of the Arkham games for this entry.

Naturally Rocksteady will want to just build on the stuff they've done and features fans like.

Maybe the next Batman game man.

AFAIK there are no pedestrians. The GCPD evacuated everyone so I presume that's some thugs who nicked a car. I could be incorrect though.

You can side-swipe vehicles with the X button so it has to be enemies.

That's some Burnout Revenge-like physics going on with that collision. Dammit I miss Criterion.

The extra time has been put to good use. The game looks great.

And yeah, I think that's the first Batmobile footage I've been impressed with. Still, I'd rather get around the city using the flight system.

Which is my point exactly. Just because it says it's running on a playstation doesn't mean it's going to run like this on MY playstation.

Game looks amazing. wow.

LOL'd so hard when that happened.

Batman fucked that car up good.

I am about to preorder this. Is the season pass worth it? also whats up with the price. its 100 bucks! Thats like CoD pricing.

In case you are interesting in knowing what effects we are talking about :
GameWorks-Games-Batman-Arkham-Knight.jpg

The cape uses the standard Physx sdk (APEX) on all platforms, but the PC version will offer several GPU driven physics stuff like Asylum, City and Origins.
I've always been a sucker for good physics in games and even if it's purely cosmetic I greatly appreciate them. Turbulence also has to do with particles and smoke.

Nvidia and Rocksteady have yet to demonstrate those effects, I'm particularly intrigued by Faceworks....

All good features

Problem is these are FPS killers :/
