Batman: Arkham Knight Gameplay Video – Time To Go To War

Why is the voice acting so bad in these games? Kevin Conroy seems so detached and indifferent in the games compared to his other performances as Batman. Rocksteady has done a phenomenal job in other areas but they really should have worked on improving the voice acting. Only Hammil and Troy Baker have done really quality work in the series so far when it comes to convincing dialogue delivery.

Day 1. Looks great and even runs great on PS4. This game right here is why ive waited to say that TW3 is my GOTY.

Wouldn't worry about downgrades. It already happened and nobody really noticed:

damn

it's begin....
probably not

Batman's face has some fucked up looking pursed lips.

Batmobile also still looks kinda boring, especially compared to the hand-to-hand freeflow combat.

"Beat up female villains even though they come willingly"

Just taking notes to avoid sexism in the future
My post was only semi-serious, but I think that whole scene would look less weird, if she was cuffed. You know, as a super-villain that could easily wreak havok. Especially if she comes willingly. Or do you imply that Batman just trusts her?

I know it's a joke, but I find it funny how both sides in these kinds of discussions throw the word "sexism" around as if it means nothing.

"Hey commissioner, I was there when batman brought poison ivy in. Strange thing is he brought up some sort of holographic communication display on his wrist and the person he was talking to was your daughter Barbara, sir. I saw her clear as day sir."

First thing I thought too, lol.

Everything looks amazing. Oh and to engadget and eurogamer, Arkham City has been the best Batman game released so far not Arkham Asylum. Hell, I'd rather play Batman Origins over Asylum.

All 3 games were amazing games, but yes I agree.

I think this will turn into the Donkey Kong Country thing. At the time, people were like, 1 is best, 2 is second best, 3 is worst. But after they looked back with a more critical approach, most say, 2, 3, 1 now.

Don't get me wrong, all Arkham games are amazing, but I'm of the opinion that 2 > 3 >= 1 even if three isn't part of the Rocksteady trilogy.

AA has a better focus

Open World adds nothing to the game, but I guess it is a good time sink

If you say so

I'm in this weird sort of camp where Asylum is my personal favorite, but I acknowledge that City is probably the overall better game (Though Asylum does a couple of things better; notably pacing).

Really got mixed feelings about this, I do like what I'm seeing but I'm not convinced that the open world is going to add to the game. So far Arkham Asylum has been by far the most enjoyable for me and part of that was because of the limitations that the level design put on you.

As much as I really like some open world games I'm just not convinced yet that it's the right thing for this series. I am tempted to get it but I think it might be better for me to wait for reviews for this one.

Do we know yet when the reviews will be out for this?

EDIT:
Haven't read the thread but I can see now that I'm not the only one with the same concern.

EDIT 2:
Who am I kidding, I'm sure it'll be fine once I get my hands on it.

I keep waiting for the Batmobile to to justify having so much resources dedicated to it, waiting for it to not look boring...and we're still here

the game comes out less than a month Rocksteady, time's running out to impress me with your product and all its fuckin' DLC and awful commercials!

Wait, Did Batman killed people inside those tanks?

I am still not happy about this game being more action packed with the tank at all but it lookz amazing, also open world game again, so burnt out of open world games

If you say so

I kind of agree. I felt like City and Origins just had a bunch of wasted space. There wasn't anything going on in the city. It felt like they were just padding the game. Gliding and grappling around the city just isn't a big deal anymore. It's not even close to something like Spiderman 2 from a decade ago.

I don't think open world adds anything. They haven't done anything particularly interesting with the increased real estate. The best parts of Arkham city were inside buildings.

There's no immersion for me since they always have some shitty reason for Gotham to be empty.

The voice acting is absolutely terrible and so cheesey.

Kevin Conroy is too old and bored for this, sad. Should have retired with Hamill

The VA and Art/Character Design is really underrated in Origins, sooo much better than Rocksteady's efforts

Is it just me, or is there no sense of speed whatsoever when driving the Batmobile ? Almost looks like he is driving in slow motion

I guess driving is not the primary focus of the game so it isn't a deal breaker...but it just broke the immersion for me in that video.

Nothing about this impresses me aside from some of the animations and visuals.

-The voice acting is awful. I'm not sure what happened to the voice direction.

- The world continues to looks as empty and barren as Arkham City. I don't like that they went further in this direction when everyone knows the best part of the Arkham games are the intricate levels that take place inside.

- What's with the weird electric streaks as Batman is swinging/punching all over the place? Looks really out of place and lame.

- I still don't understand the purpose of the Bat Mobile and Rocksteady has yet to convince me that it was a good decision as an addition. Feels very Un-Batman from what I'm seeing. Launching rocket launchers and misiles isn't what Batman is about.

I can't believe I'm this indifferent to a new Batman game, but wow I can't help but be bored by this footage.

Honestly, the more I see the less impressed I am. Game is gorgeous, but somehow it just isn't making me excited like the first looks at AA did. I dunno, maybe it's just old hat at this point. Replaying City isn't helping things, the sheer saturation of stuff to be done is overwhelming, and I'm still kinda worried that this is going to go the same way...

Gonna stick this in my Gamefly Q for now. Maybe I'll get more hyped later, I dunno.

Looks great, but I'm really not sure about those vehicle sections. That doesn't look fun at all.

Edit: Not the driving it self, that looks fine. The combat just doesn't look fun.

I'm excited for Arkham Knight, but count me among those that preferred Arkham Asylum. I found that Arkham City had too much filler as far as side quests, and the constant crisscrossing of the map while being hounded by pay phones totally destroyed the great pacing the original had.

Can't wait!

Of course they get more aggressive as the game progresses. They introduce new enemy types throughout.

Yes and no. The AI for enemies work in concert so that generally guys wait their turn, but when they don't wait they're turn, and they attack two or three at a time, it's no harder to deal with - just a matter of hitting the counter button once per attacker. Some enemy types ARE more aggressive - they won't care that you're currently in a counter animation and will attack you anyways. Basically, various attack animations have various degrees of vulnerability. The combat is primarily built around giving you the opportunity to look cool while facing a variety of threats. There is still a decent degree of challenge, particularly in this video where the counter indicators are turned off, but the challenge of full-comboing an enemy crowd isn't ever going to be as demanding as some of the things you'll find in more rigorously difficult character action or ARPG games.

I couldve sworn that Rocksteady said the street level goons arent really meant to pose a threat to Batman, just like in the comics, but the challenge comes from getting hire scores and perfecting combat encounters.

Also, later in the arkham games you always come across other enemy types that you cant just wail on. There is a certain method you have to use to take them down which makes things more difficult when you're fighting groups of enemies.

Thanks for the responses. Coming from Bloodboorne it does seem particularly jarring but I guess that game is the other extreme.

I'm probably the only one out there who thinks just about EVERYTHING in Origin is better than rocksteadys efforts. That game gets so much hate, I honestly can't figure out why

I really liked Origins too, but I assume at least part of the hate would come from the fact that people were probably happy waiting for the next Rocksteady game after City, but it felt like they pushed out Origins to keep the accountants happy and keep that regular 2-year cycle cash rolling in.

I don't see why people would be mad that a great game was released for us to play. If the quality is there, who cares how frequently its released? There were TWO batman games across an entire generation and we're pissed that they released a 3rd? That argument is so dumb, I do not get it.

I'm in that boat too. Thought Origins was great and I'm generally quite lukewarm on the Arkham games and anything comic book related. Origins was quite cool to me.

I gotta say, its kinda ironic to see UE3 putting out one of the best next gen looking efforts.

From Japanese(Guilty Gear) to Western(Batman) it can truly put in the work.
