Might be a douche for saying it but I will probably never refer him as a her. I don't have anything against transgenders, it's just something that's weird for me to say.
Be careful. I've seen people getting banned for saying such a thing. I agree with you, though...

They often say it inconveniences them that they have to "go out of their way" to use a different pronoun.I'll never understand why some people feel so strongly about pronouns for transgender people. What exactly do you lose by using the one they prefer? How can it possibly bother you in any way? Legit questions, I'd like to understand this.
Yeah, basically saying, " Imay come off as bigoted because I am going to say something bigoted but it makes me feel comfy so yeah".What a weird post.
A couple people in this thread have mentioned that Kanye was helpful in helping the family go through the transition. Anyone have any source on this? I'm just curious about Yeezus's role.
I'm positive he will have some dope lyric about it on his next album, too.

I don't know shit about transgender anything so I hope this doesn't come off to offensive. Why does it always seem that people aren't trying to be a real women but the sexualized cultural stereotype of a woman? Maybe it's just only seeing media images of transgender people but they can't be a woman without large breast, long hair, and make up? It seems to be more about the culture caricature then personal identification.

There's a good reason you would get banned for it. Kind of makes you wonder if you're saying something you know...ignorant or wrong.Be careful. I've seen people getting banned for saying such a thing. I agree with you, though...

So they should. being an insensitive asshole is a bad thing, believe it or not.Be careful. I've seen people getting banned for saying such a thing. I agree with you, though...
Congrats to her. Any updates on her accident from a few months ago?

No, they'd call him their "other mom" now. Just like everyone else would call him a "her" now post-transition. It's what SHE would want.
That said, if her kids did call her dad and she isn't offended by it: Who's business is it but theirs?

Well I think what they were saying is that they think transgender women always have large breasts, long hair and make up and don't look like "average" women, but rather try to style themselves like supermodels or actresses or something. You're right you don't know shit and that was offensive.
What is a real woman?

http://www.ew.com/article/2015/04/24/bruce-jenner-kanye-west-helped-kim-kardashianKim told me a story. She goes, You know what really turned me around on thinking about this? I said, What? She goes, Kanye. I went, Oh, okay, Jenner said. He says to Kim, Look, I can be married to the most beautiful woman in the world, and I am. I can have the most beautiful little daughter in the world, and I have that. But Im nothing if I cant be me. If I cant be true to myself, they dont mean anything.
Added Jenner: Since then, Kimberly has been, by far, the most accepting, and the easiest to talk to about it.

If you know the thing youre saying is shitty or could get you banned, why say it?Might be a douche for saying it but I will probably never refer him as a her. I don't have anything against transgenders, it's just something that's weird for me to say.

I'll be helpful and not offended
Where are you getting your information from? There are loads of trans people out there who just look normal and go about their business. You've probably never even noticed them.
If you're looking at "adult" websites, salacious news stories or celebrity photo shoots, of course it's going to be a bit skewed.
I'm a trans woman and I'm not sure I'm a caricature of anything. I won't go into what I wear on a daily basis or my bra size, but I'm a lawyer at a large firm in a stable relationship and I pass so I only disclose my history to friends I can trust. It's usually so tiring though, because I get loads of questions which seem to challenge me to justify my very existence.
Like I said up at the start of the thread, i hope this is just a learning process for people and in 20 years or so, trans anything is where lesbian and gay perception is now.
You're right you don't know shit and that was offensive.
What is a real woman?
You are a Douche and you don't have anything against trans people but you refuse to accept them as people?Might be a douche for saying it but I will probably never refer him as a her. I don't have anything against transgenders, it's just something that's weird for me to say.
Funny seeing these 2 posts one after the other, can y'all point out here who needs an attitude adjustment?
I'm sorry not my job to placate people who call trans folk cultural caricatures say they aren't women and judge that they don't have personal identity because of hair and makeup.
If you think I'm the problem because I'm not nice about those implications? Good for you.
A person is asking to be educated on something that they're showing they're ignorant about with the intention to not be offensive in the future, and you snark and insult instead of helping them understand better so they can handle better the issue next time.
It's way more than "not being nice", it's being the kind of people who quickly point out someone is "problematic" and don't say what is problematic about it nor do anything to help.
