It's the nose, I swear. If they went with the normal Daredevil exposed nose look, taking inspiration from Cap's Winter Soldier mask, it would've looked great.
Here's the mock ups I did a few weeks ago to see what it'd look like with the more traditional nose

Finished the season. Damn good show. The Marvel films are fun, but I preferred the more realistic portrayal of the world in Daredevil and the focus on the little guys.

I liked all of the characters for the most part. Fisk did take some time to get used to. I prefer cooly competent criminals (R.I.P. my bb Wesley) and Fisk is such an emotional baby, but he got better at the end.
Matt is a charming asshole and I hope he doesn't get Melvin killed. His beef with Fisk is commendable, but he gets a lot of innocent people in the crossfire.
Foggy is the standard comedic side character who manages to be endearing rather than annoying.
Karen is... I like her zeal, but, fuck, the way she did Ben pissed me off. She already screwed him by not telling him they were going to see Fisk's mother, but then she didn't tell anyone that she killed Wesley. Ben probably still wouldn't have survived, but at least he could have known that they knew they were at the nursing home.
Claire is nice and I like her relationship with Matt, but, if the ending is any indication, that is about to get even more complicated. If Karen and Matt is the end game, please, please don't drag these love triangles out. I really hate the predictable drama that love triangles produce.

"You and I aren't so different." Next time anyone implies that, they should get hit by a bus.

How are Matt and Foggy keeping the lights on? They have no clients, yet are able to keep their office and pay the rent.

I don't like the end costume and liked the black costume more. It seemed to sudden to jump from that into the red costume with the horns. Should have been another outfit between the two or explain why Matt suddenly wanted to portray himself as a devil. Unless I missed it, they didn't sufficiently explain that.

Marvel put up an article about the design of the costume. Ryan Meinerding designed it, which I'm kind of shocked to learn since it didn't translate that well into live action like his other costumes do (Cap, Iron Man, Thor, Hawkeye, Widow, etc). The concept art is way better than the final real world suit.

damn, this is way better right here

Finished this up and to be honest, maybe I'm crazy, but it might be the most entertaining thing for me that the MCU has ever produced. Such a great way to do a comic book television series. This is what I wanted Gotham to be, instead of the badly acted/written procedural full of tacky fan service. Only downsides were Foggy's actor is awful, and D'Onofrio as Kingpin was a little iffy for me at times, but when he was on he was great. When we saw brutal, badass Kingpin he really nailed it. Other than that, the only criticism I have is that DD's final costume sorta killed the climax for me. I hated it. Made him look too stocky and made his face look fat. Also I think they need to whiten up the eye slots to break up face a little. It was too dark. Hopefully we get a Begins-->Dark Knight style revision in terms of sleekness for Season 2.

can't argue much with this, good review fam
#naswon tho

i think the show could have lost about 4 episodes and might have been better for it. the episode with stick,

surprised to see so many on here down on the Stick ep; i thought it was fantastic, and his casting was perfect. really gave you some background on Matt & his training without dragging its nuts like an origin story...i wonder if people will dig it more when the ties to Iron Fist are explained next year

i'm mostly against it because it felt like it was trying to tie into future things too much instead of letting things reveal themselves more naturally.

Yeesh, whoever put together the live-action costume messed-up. Some of the lines are floaty and the material used are more fabric than leather-like. The material in the concept really has that shiny, leather-like look. The helmet also lacks shinyness. The material they used in season 1 spreads the light around and diffuses it instead of making it shiny and show off those nice details.

The design's great, the execution is terribly wrong. Hope they get to re-do it in season 2. Especially with all that backlash.

EDIT: Now comparing the two side by side, the one in the show looks like a pyjama. Jesus.

The design is amazing. I thought the show costume looked great except for the cowl but this is really eye-opening. I hope they re-do the costume.

And finished.

Great first season.

I'm really surprised Karen never opened up about killing Wesley, especially after Foggy made a comment about "what are we monsters that kill people" right after she had killed him (in self defense of course).

I'm guessing season 2 will be anywhere from:
1) Vanessa being evil
2) Kingpin trial
3) The Hand
4) Bullseye

Gotta agree, the problem with the practical suit is the texture is all wrong. Shows up really well in that costume display.

Also the issue overall is, Murdock in the show is really sleek, limber, and elegant. His homemade ninja outfit actually shows this off extremely well, which is why he looks so good in it.

The practical costume helmet feels too big and loose, breaking his sleek outline. And a Cap-style chinguard would work wonders. All these bowl helmets look better with a chin piece to frame the face.

This.

The design is great, but the actual show suit looks like bad cosplay.

What are the odds the powers that be are going to take the backlash to the suit into consideration and actually have it remade? Because I sincerely hope they do.

They made a comment about the suit being Mark 1 i the show so they were planning to redesign the suit even if only to sell more toys.

There's too much black in the suit. Looks vaguely Deadpool-ish at a glance. Should be a solid dark red. And the nose should be visible.

It's expected at this point, like they've been doing with movie costumes. They never stay the same and it fits the narrative that he's going to try to make a better suit, this one was a rushed prototype.

Just finished season one.

Quite enjoyed it. Honestly not too familiar with Daredevil so a lot of it was new to me.

I agree with some of you here though, the concept art for the costume is incredible, but there was just something a little off about the head. I dont know, maybe it'll grow on me.

Cox was great as Murdock though.

That's an awesome suit as well. Do we know who is in charge of the costume designs on the show? And who's the new director for Season 2?

Stephanie Maslansky does designs. Showrunners are Buffy the Vampire Slayer vet Doug Petrie and Sons of Anarchy alum Marco Ramirez.

Posted this in the Agents of Shield thread, but I figured it was worth bringing up again here if it hasn't already.

Crusher Creel, the guy Jack Murdock whoops, later shows up in Agents of Shield as Absorbing Man. That's cool, but what stood out to me in particular was a potential age discrepancy. Brian Patrick Wade, who played Absorbing Man, is 36 years old. Charlie Cox is 32, so only 4 years younger. I'm assuming Matt Murdock is still in his mid-late twenties since he is only just beginning to practice as a lawyer. Assuming Wade plays an Absorbing Man in his 40s, it should be fine, I guess. We can probably also assume an ageing Battlin' Jack was fighting a significantly younger Creel, I guess.

I also heard that Skye from Agents of Shield and Matt from Daredevil were at the same orphanage? As of now, Skye is 26, and Matt could be a tad bit older, but not by much. Absorbing Man/Crusher in his 40's sounds plausible.

Men get more handsome as they get older. :3

I don't know what to feel about Elektra in Season 2. I think it was planned since the start anyway, and they'll have a great plotline for her and Matt I'm sure.

Same orphanage, really? That's so cool! I love these little tie-ins between the series.

I'm sure it'll be Elektra and Bullseye this season, probably with Fisk in the background.

Fisk making a triumphant return as Kingpin late in season 2 or early season 3 could be awesome.

I'm guessing he'll have hired Bullseye to exact revenge on Matt. Bullsy looks into it, uncovers Matt's identity whilst he is dealing with The Hand/Elektra. I'm just hype.

Also, more Stick is always going to be a good thing.

Taken from the Creel Wiki entry:

Creel also retains his intellect and capacity for speech and full physical movement (although the character's first attempt at absorbing water cost Creel his sanity when he drifted apart)[36] and can reform if his body is damaged in any way while in altered form, which he discovered when Wolverine cut his arm off during the Secret Wars while he was in a stone form and he held it in place as he deactivated his powers.

They could reason that because of his powers he doesn't age, no?

What a damn fine show. Wife *half* watched it with me but I was fully committed. Honestly I was pleasantly surprised and who else thinks
Marci is going to be joining N & M next season?

I hope we got a lot more ninja in season 2, Stick and Nobu is awesome. Madam Gau as well. we've done the grounded crime drama in season 1, let's move on to the more fantastical aspect of the show.

I watched first episode and found it kind of cheesy and predictable... Should I keep watching? I'm really not expecting to like other episodes...

It's the same show from beginning to end pretty much.

Maybe it's not for me then...

Or maybe I feel that way because I just finished watching Happy Valley which is way darker. Going to something "fun" and "action packed" after that might not be the best idea ever.

I really enjoyed season 1. I wish I had a voice like the actor who plays Matt. I thought the cast chemistry was great too.

The only thing that was underwhelming for me was (last episode spoiler):
...the reveal of the Daredevil armor. I waited 13 episodes to finally see it, and it looks a lot like Batman armor (with red and black). I liked the smoother texture of the original Daredevil costume. I was hoping it would be more streamlined or elegant. It's still good, I just was hoping for a different look.

I thought he looked more badass with his creepy black mask with no eye holes. His armored mask would look cooler with no eye contours at all.

I just finished my second watch of the show, and I enjoyed as much as I did the first time for the most part, however, the final episode does stand out rather negatively and in some aspects.

I'm really not a fan of the way Matt turned into a Power Ranger when he put the suit on. I mean, that flip intro when he corners Fisk had me shaking my head.

Also, the cowl really needs a redesign ASAP to cover the chin. Charlie Cox is a great looking guy, but a superhero chin he does not possess.

Really hoping the peeps over at Netflix upgrade the suit in earnest. That concept art looks way too good to not be realised.

Show was GREAT. Hyped for more. What I'd like:

-Exploration into Karen's character
-Vanessa running the empire while Fisk is in jail
-Same level of grit and maturity

So pleasantly surprised, my favorite Marvel property since Iron Man 1.

I forgot to add how surprised and disappointed I was when
Wesley was killed by Karen. He was such an awesome villain...or #2 villain. Some actors can make the other actors around them better, and he did that. Karen is responsible for directly or indirectly killing off 2 of the better acted characters on the show.

I hope they do an armor redesign for next season. I want that glossy, contoured leather look, not the heavy ballistic Batman look. Also, did he go Christian Bale on his DD voice at the end? I know he did a little voice modulation during the season, but it seemed like he went full Christian Bale for the last episode.
