Fallout 4 Officially Revealed for PC, Xbox One, PS4 [Reddit Rumor = Ban]

Well now that we have pretty much established that its basically a cross gen game that isn't releasing as a cross gen game

Can we all reach the acceptance stage? Or does this ruin it for you
It's not a cross gen game. I'm not this jaded gamer who has a warped perception of what 'next gen' means, and the only thing that this hilarious bashing tells me is that the state of gaming culture right now is pitiful.

Outside of Telegraph Hill and Beacon Hill, where are these Bostonian Mountains?

I'm going to guess the game doesn't entirely take place in Boston.

(Unless the developers are intentionally exaggerating those two "hills" in the game.)

Thought that the trailer was pretty good. Looks like it will be fun exploring the world as the environments were nice and varied. Although it does like pretty shitty graphically.

For me the problem isn't the graphics, is that it feels more than a Fallout 3.5 than a fallout 4.
I see too many things equal than the 3/newvegas, it's not a bad thing by itself, but maybe doesn't deserve a 4 behind the Fallout name.

There is such a huge hole in games for holiday (afaik nothing great cept Tomb Raider) so it would be amazing if it released Nov

Now every Fallout 4 prerelease discussion is going to be tainted by a bunch of delusional children who think the PS4 is some kind of ultra high end gaming PC.

ps4 owners are not the ones complaining here, what makes you think they are..

That explains the lower-than-expected graphic quality. At least we'll easily be seeing 1080p and 30+fps on consoles, and PC gamers know not to worry about visuals in Bethesda Game Studios titles anyway =)

Ill Just repost this again

I'll buy it.

It doesn't explain it if was meant for current gen only, but if they dropped cross gen late in the process I can see it as a viable excuse.

what? check out the Witcher 3 performance threads, Most PS4 people would take a downgrade to get the game to run at a decent frame rate.

It's just amazing you're complaining about Fallout 4. I think you're focusing on things that weren't meant to be at a level you want. Like you're missing the point of what they're offering. That's fine but the rest of us aren't missing the point and it's a little annoying to see others upset when something so glorious was revealed.

But to each his own, if you're upset about it by all means be upset

I didn't really say anything about what I thought about it, but I can understand, good visuals are more important in certain games, I think a post apocalyptic world like the one in Fallout really benefits from having a visually immersive world.

Now I've played F3 and NV, but frankly The Elder Scrolls have always been my game series, I've been playing that since the 90s, and I was disappointed at the lack of visual improvement from Oblivion to Skyrim, if the next installment would look like the previous ones I would be mighty disappointed.

Bethesda gives us a realistic, in-engine trailer about what the game is going to look like. It looks far better than any Bethesda game has ever looked, people still cry. So fuck 'em. Bethesda should have just put a CG trailer out there, gotten people to buy the game, and then the same imbecilic whining could have taken place after the game's launch where I'm too busy playing this awesome game and am well past the point of caring.

Looking better than any past Bethesda game isn't saying much. At all.

Look, why is the concept of people wanting a great looking game (compared to other games) so alien to you? Why is it so bad to expact that an only current gen game releasing in 2016 or later look as good or better than other current gen games?

Im not trying to bash it

I am genuinely excited

But if these graphics whiners need an explanation for why this game looks lesser in comparison to more recent titles the development timeline seems like the clearest indication

It began development BEFORE and is releasing DURING the current gen. Is that not FACT at this point?

I'm surprised there aren't more people praising the fact that the trailer was 3 minutes long, and wasn't a short CG teaser. I appreciated the fact that it showed what resembled in-game footage (doctored or not in some cases), well and it was a lot longer than I expected. I honestly was shocked at how much it showed considering E3 is right around the corner.

Fallout 4 finally looks like a mid to late gen 360 game! A great upgrade, as Fallout 3 looked like a late Original Xbox game(circa doom 3)

Hopefully by Fallout 5 we get XB1 graphics.

This will hopefully allow it to run great on a variety of configurations, in for the PS4 version day 1, and also can't wait to see what ES6 looks like in like 4 years

I feel my IQ points slowly dropping with every page. Looks like a bad PS3 game? Doesn't look any better than F3? San Andreas hands? Could probably be rendered optimally on a 3DS?

Jesus christ.

All this time waiting, and when the time finally comes, the announcement thread is filled with complaints about graphics.

You disappoint me, GAF.

I never really played Fallout for the graphics. Fallout 3 was fairly ugly when it came out as well.

"But I need muh grafix!", indeed. This thread is really key to understanding why game devs post bullshit trailers before their game comes out and then downgrade before launch.

I, for one, can't wait to finally play as the dog. I'll be the most loyal of companions to my owner and gladly seek out items for him whenever he asks.

This is now my most hyped game unless a new souls game/Dark Souls 3 gets revealed. I dont care about graphics too much, I just hope the shooting feels better! I cant wait!!!

That's speculation. Nothing in his/her's post indicates that they know what happened behind the scenes.

Don't understand why one shouldn't be able to complain about the visuals? It's a post apocalyptic world, creating an immersive world is very important and good visuals help a lot in this, obviously it's disappointing to get something so underwhelming. It interferes with immersion, sure a good story can somewhat help diminish the effects of less immersive visuals, but in 2015, there's really no excuse.

Oblivion was amazing looking
It's not worth complaining about because all you need is a decent imagination to fill in the visual blanks.

Does the average gamer not have that bit of imagination these days?

Never played a Fallout game before, but that trailer has me intrigued. Is it necessary to play through 3 and NV before playing this one?
He asks, knowing as much about the game as the people he is asking.

Also, graphics aren't that bad. Reminds me of Wolfenstein: TNO but with a slightly different art design that focuses on colors rather than sharp detail. Do we know if this is running on id tech or not?

What else are we meant to freaking focus on, all we can talk about is the setting and the graphics................................... there is no story or gameplay yet.

lmao. can't tell if serious

They will definitely throwback and bring up things from past games... just little inside things like "WAR NEVER CHANGES..", but No Fallout is very modular, you can pick up and go with any of them

- Fallout 3 was a revelatory experience for me at the time, and one of my most enjoyable gaming experiences

- After many Bethesda games, what I have come to expect each time one comes out is something marginally improved over the last game, but still sporting familiar Bethesda feel including "Bethesda Jank" -- Which mainly describes the sub-par animation of the humanoids in the game. It appears this is exactly what we're getting with FO4. Anyone who expected cutting edge graphics beyond what we've ever seen before just hasn't gotten to know Bethesda, this isn't what they do

- I don't mind Bethesda Jank, in fact, it's comfortable

- I can't freaking wait! That said, I would be shocked -- SHOCKED -- If it comes out in 2015.

I think it looks amazing.

Even if it plays identically to Fallout 3, the increased fidelity and dynamic range in the colors is a huge, huge improvement. Blue skies! Rust! Texture detail!

Can't wait.

Well done Bethesda. An actual, no fooling, show of what the game will really look like in motion. It looks plenty nice to me, plus I'll be going for the PC so mods will be an option as well.

Fallout has never been about super duper wonder graphics, at least for me. I'm pleased it'll be the Fallout world with some more detail. The story is what I want to experience, so I'll reserve my judgement until I play it. But so far, I don't see any reason not to look forward to it.
