Splatoon |OT2| Prepare to Dye

Thanks to both, i thought you just had to touch the enemy.

Glad to help. Use the test function when you are in a weapon store. You can test the weapon, and also the special. It's much better doing that quickly, then jumping into battle and being under pressure.

Can't git gud with the inkbrush. I have achieved the 1000s, but not even close to ~1300.

I feel the need to go back to the Gal deco or the .96. I must endure.

Holy hell. You guys make me feel so inferior.

Can barely escape C+ hell into B- purgatory. :(

If it makes you feel better, I haven't even made it to B- yet. I feel most comfortable in a support role with the .96 Gal, but I imagine the Echolocator is more helpful with skilled players.

I've decided i really like the delayed rollout of weapons in MP games. Just as you think you have your favorite loadouts and every map figured out, it's all regularly upended. The brush has thrown off my aeroscrub play completely, and it's awesome! I hope this game is super successful and has some influence here. I also love the de-emphasis on KDR, which is the destroyer of every MP game ever.

It's 100% mandatory.

It is, especially for accruing points

Yeah you pretty much have to be able to toss those suckers out for a number of reasons including:

- Linking your own paths for others to smooth out and get better bearings with/taking command of open areas
- Luring out opponents for quick assassinations
- Turf Wars (it's the only way you're getting anything resembling a decent score)
- Locking down opponents from approaching certain ways (threw one on the vertical incline/wall under the upper path that led from the enemy base to the big scramble area in the middle of Arrowana Mall and it legitimately kept everyone from entering

I'm curious Forkball, what did you think of the brush fu today? I slept on some ideas last night and suddenly everything clicks in a different way. The only thing I need practice with now is quick escaping from high fire rate weaponry.

I was inspired by that hax ass Japanese player profile to run a set with the three main perks he had going for himself. I remembered a bunch of my gear already had certain stats and now I'm just beginning the process of getting a final slot for the hat and potentially rerolling some of this stuff. Any suggestions from you guys?

Wait, what did you test it with then? Maybe it works for certain guns and not others?

I think I may have mistaken and tested it only on the roller and inkbrush.

From a rough guess 3x main run speed up gives you about 30% for all guns except for rollers and inkbrush. It even works for chargers. But since it's a percentage increase, it makes far less sense to use it with a charger considering how slow they are, and makes a lot more sense to use it something that's already quick walk speed like the N-Zap.

SoulLab I think I hate you and your brush.

Splatterscope is a pretty fun weapon. The range it has is ridiculous and works great for covering area in stages like Arowana Mall. It doesn't seem to do that much damage though (for a charger I mean), so equippin some power-ups seems mandatory to use it.

Man, it didn't even occur to me (but it should have been obvious) that the guns have inherently different walking speeds while shooting.

This game.

Ah, that explains it. Yeah, it doesn't work with rollers. I tested that too, since people were saying that. I'm glad it doesn't work with rollers, as they are fast enough as it is.

Game is seriously complex. I can't wait for the community to start breaking down all these things.

Also when a competitive scene forms, it's going to be intense as hell.

I don't think the competitive scene will form until August when we can have private lobbies with friends.

Yeah, I'm really glad to see everyone is taking it in stride and developing nonetheless but this game is going to fucking shine come August.

Had to switch back to the aerospray. I just can't git gud with it in turf war..

If you go to Arowana Mall use the .52 gal. Its got big kill power, covers lots of area with Ink and is perfect for getting in the thick of things down low since there are only a couple snipe points. Where the mall has steep ramps you can toss the shower at the top then aim up from the foot of the ramp and lob huge blops of paint in over behind it to effectively shut down exits so your team mates can move in and bat clean up. I nailed a bunch of kills this way too as folks would occassionally be fighting it out behind a wall or ready to push and they'd run into it. Just watch the sniper points on the left. In the mall middle hide behind the sign directly in the middle and toss fountains at the sniper.

For Saltspray Rig its kind of a tossup between a solid rapid fire or the new brush. With brush make a dash for the big ramp on the far side as soon as you start and avoid the middle. Once at the top of the ramp turn and jump off and climb the boxes. From up there you can shake the brush and cover most of the middle and quickly net yourself nukes. Your ability to throw sprinklers will run interference on the entire opposite team's push unless they manage to get a sniper on the wall opposite you (so sprinkler it). Fast shots like spatter shot and the jet squelcher do good here because they lay down a lot of lines to create cutoff points that shut down the narrow corners. I prefer the jet squelcher because its range lets it both shutdown snipers and create large ink zones to push with.

Still figuring out what works best for the skatepark and warehouse...I'm thinking the warehouse might be best with the charger weapons.

Even then the game is still lacking basic functionality like a spectator mode. There will be some small-scale, for fun tournaments but unless Nintendo commits by patching in the necessary features and kickstarts it with an official tournament or two there will be no competitive scene despite the core game's potential.

Wait... Using a special refills your tank?

.
..
......

GODDAMMIT!!!

That's why AeroSpray + Echolocator is so good.
-Spray enough to get the Special,
-Keep spraying till it runs out,
-Use EchoLocator (helps your team/yourself) which doesn't interrupt your shooting,
-Continue spraying.

Some more rough testing. So weapons like Splattershots (non-Pro), Aerospray, N-Zap, are light weapons with higher walk speed, while weapons like Blaster, .Gals, Squelchers, Splattershot Pro are heavy weapons with slower walk speed. A rough guess is that the light weapons has about 30-40% faster walking speed while attacking.

Ranked match against a team of four inkstrikes is... hard.

We still won but holy shit, I felt like I was involved in a Covenant campaign to glass a planet... with ink.

I don't think the competitive scene will form until August when we can have private lobbies with friends.

That makes sense.

I'm still excited though to know that, there is an intense community being built around this game. And there are people in that community, compiling data and trying to figure out all the inner workings of this game.

It just feels like, the game is more complex/layered then some expected. So I can't wait to see all of that, you know? And once the competitive scene does eventually form, it's really going to blow minds just how crazy/intense all the little things end up mattering (when the pros at the game start utilizing it all for peak performance).

Finally got over the wall known as A-!
tumblr_npj80s8UZW1ux7li8o1_1280.jpg

I know A to A+ will be just as hard cause it mostly consists of the same people. I even had a win streak as shown there.

You sure about that? I thought the guides said that Run Speed Up doesn't work with the Rollers while rolling.

Meanwhile I'm well on my way to finding the hidden "D" Rank -_-

Being the weakest link on your team feels bad.

Holly Cow. The Paintbursh is so much fun! It's also tiring, but who cares. In one match I manged to get 1100 points with it and we still lost. It's really fun sneaking up on people with it. Also when you enter a duel with someone else who is using the paint bursh? It then becomes a match to see who can press the button the fastest.

I'm torn: I really can't stand the motion controls 90% of the time (I tend to adjust my grip/body position regularly, resulting in the gyro going nuts) but on occasion it does come in handy. However, the sticks are AWFUL! Just can't find a perfect balance with them. Has anyone else found a middle ground between the motion and sticks and can offer some advice? Dropping out of games to adjust my controls every time is becoming a chore.

haha, we have almost the same equip. Same cap, same shoes. Instead of the ninja squid shirt, I'm using the ninja squid hoodie :P
rerolled the stats on my cap, but they still kinda suck :O

I am one match away from level 20 and I've only got the last boss left of the Single-Player. Truly this is the end of an era
(and the beginning of another!)
.

I'm doing work with the Nzap guys. It's like IMO a better Splattershot Jr? (Same specs almost, but better range). I don't really get the special though (echolocator). It just tracks people?

As a side note, I have to say, it's so damn frustrating when you are in ranked, and your team isn't painting the ground to capture a point. I had a team that killed the other team, and they focused on going into the enemy territory to keep fighting them. Im like...GUYS...FUCKIN GUYS...the territory, we don't have it yet. WTF

This is where pinging the map would be awesome. Would have pinged the shit out of that capture zone.

Personally, use the control sticks to turn the camera left and right and use the gyro to move the camera up and down, thats how I do it. Only use the gyro for slight movements to the left and right, if possible.

But Aerospray doesn't have an Echolocator. Do you mean the Custom Splattershot Jr. that has Echolocator?

Actually, would using footwear with Ink Resistance be a good thing if you are using a Roller/Inkbrush? You'll almost never be in the enemy ink with those kinds of weapons.

Perhaps Ninja Squid Jump would be a better alternative?

Echolocator is one of the best specials in the game. Knowing where the enemy is is huge.

With the Inkbrush, you can actually be on enemy ink if you aren't going straight or nearly straight. Ink Resistance can help an Inkbrush user.

Wow, just fuckin wow.

I don't ever rage. But my bloodpressure is so high right now. We had control of the map, got it down to 3 seconds. Then my team let the other team capture it, and they went from 100 to 0. All down the shitter. Wow. Fuckin wow. wowowowoow.

GAGHGUH

Guess it doesn't help when your team is bad. :(

Lmao who just went bubbler on me and was pushed to the sea? Sorry but that was amazing-

In less amazing news I got an error. Not even a communication error just a regular error.
