Splatoon |OT2| Prepare to Dye

I find myself taking on an entire team of Level 20s.

Are Nintendo gonna raise the level cap? Because this game has been out for over a week and there are 20's in almost every match.

the levels does not make your stronger guys

if you are good you can splat a level 20 at level 1

with Spyke you can level up a 1 star gear so it has 3 slots

you are only missing some weapons

as much as I would like tho grind to level 99 in Splatoon, I feel like what would be the point?

Probably not. Levels only indicate how much you've played and how many weapon unlocks you have. Rank is the skill level.

Alternate colored weapons would be great.

They should just add Paragon Levels like in Diablo 3!

But seriously, they didn't make it too hard to get to 20.
The only reason to play Turf War is for money now. (And I guess fun.)

Very glad you can't die by friendly fire when you are landed with a teammate who can't seem to move away from you...

Ranked has finally clicked for me, I was hoping it would. A lot of fun (with good teammates!), can still do ok with the Aerospray but think will experiment more weapons. Someone on the other team in my last game was absolutely lethal with the Ink Brush, wasn't even mad when they killed me since it was funny.

Also had a game where the entire other team disconnected and the four of us were left in the Skatepark for the rest of the timer, noticing a few more disconnects and a bit of lag. Not far from a stability update I'm sure haha.

any quick tips on using the ink brush effectively? seems like a speedy, limp dick roller at first glance

The Ink Brush is used differently in the different game modes.

In Turf War, it's highly aggressive. You dash in early, and you spread ink like mad. Once the first 15 seconds or so have gone by, your job is to swim around, and when you see enemy ink, jump out and spam ZR to coat the whole area. It's also easy to zip around people (while under the ink) and pop them from the side or back. It's hard to not be ranked number one with the Ink Brush.

For Splat Zone, if the zones are split, it's easy to hold down one zone by yourself while your teammates attack the second. Place the Sprinkler where it will best keep the zone covered or harass invaders. Then, you can either take the high ground and coat the area (as needed), or you can lie in wait off to the side. It's easy to swim up behind other people that would encroach on your zone and splat them.

The thing is, the weapon takes some practice. It takes around five hits to splay an enemy, too, so be prepared for that. I know it doesn't sound like an elegant approach, but spamming ZR is your friend. No other weapon coats an immediate area like the Ink Brush; it has quickly become my favorite weapon. When used in Turf Wars, I'm surprised if I don't break 1200.

I also HIGHLY recommend Ninja Squid.

Today, my goal is B+

YEP. Going for the big B + today. But I need some advice. In scenarios where you end up with an incompetent team in Splat Zones, is there ANYTHING you can do to improve your situation? Have you guys been able to still win, by doing it all by yourself? I just got Squid Ninja perk finally. Woot. Let's do this.

go for it! good luck

Maybe on a expansion or on the big August patch, though i don't see why.

The only reason for levels is to get new weapons (and to allow Spyke to Mod gear), so if they were to increase the cap they would have to add more weapons. If not, than levels are pointless.

Lets stay they add ten levels, they would have to add ten more weapons per level. There are weapons we've seen that are currently not in the game, so we might see in August a Level cap increase with all the missing weapons.

Fuck ranked.... What's the deal with camping with your charger if you can't even land any of your shots. No one in my team actually tried to paint the point and just camped in their spot. You got up to C+ you must have at least some idea of the objective right?

Thanks. :)

So the only advice to be given, for bad teammates is...good luck. *welp*

I guess in a way, it kind of comes down to luck. If you roll a really good team, just stay in that fuckin lobby, and hope you can ride it to the top!

carry your team, then =D
It's LoL all over again

Heh, I guess I need to get better then. Yesterday I killed the entire enemy team in one swoop, and my team refused to capture points. I guess in cases like that, try to capture the points myself. Then back the fuck out of lobby after the game is over, and hope for a better team roll. :P

If you want a good Ninja Squid shirt upgrading the polo is most definitely the way to go

No

I personally went with the Hoodie. Didn't like the Polo's look on my Squid. But it's probably the best "shirt" with Ninja Squid. Def.

EDIT: Just looked at that pic again more closely. Holy crap, those extra stats. Does that brand have a higher drop rate for Ink Save? If so...holy shit! If so, I made a huge mistake investing in the hoodie lol

Now that I'm finally back I added myself to the list. I got a chance to play matches against some of you via the ones that I had already on my friend list and got my ass kicked a few times. Especially since trying the ink brush. I will add some more people.

And I'm back for the better OT. Really great job, NotLiquid.

That's the only advice you need!

I feel enough time has passed since my freak-out on Wednesday for me to hop in Ranked again. C+ is not my style. B is where I wanna be!

Seems like it. I think like stats, you just have to back out of the lobby and re-roll your team. I went on like a 7 game winning streak after getting paired with a great team. While they randomize teams between matches, you can still get stuck with the same core people for the majority of the matches.

Just ride that shit to the top. If you are losing more than 3 times in a row in Ranked, then yeah. You aren't going nowhere.

That really your tat? If so, it's incredible.

I'm scoring 1100-1400+ points regularly with it now. Just gotta treat it like a rapid fire gun rather than a roller, and take advantage of the speed when evading enemies.

That is very true. It don't help that I aint even got clothes for Ranked, I just wear whatever I need to rank up. :P

Ranked with Paintbrush is goddamn interesting.

Best one yet

Thanks! I really appreciate all the positive feedback that's come out of it and it's great to see people are enjoying hanging out here. Wouldn't have been possible either without the help of Protomouse's killer work either.

This game is the most addictive game I played in a long time. I haven't stayed up until 3-4 in the morning to play a game since college and that's already ancient history.

Yeah, it is. Thanks.
I did the same thing, until like 3 am haha it's been awhile

Although, I have found that I play progressively worse the longer I am up and the more tired I get lol

And the more tired I am and the worse I play I want to play one more not to finish the night on a bad note. It's addiction.
YES, exactly, it's always ONE more game and 'come on I can do better, can't leave like this'. It's very hard to give in and finally go to bed haha. Then I wake up in the morning/afternoon, play again and go 'huh I'm wrecking again' lol

The game is just too fun and addictive, and the great thing is that even if you don't do too well, you can still have fun and contribute. Last night playing with gaf I was still reward with quite some money. The game is really good at making you have a good time. And not worry too much about, let's say K/D. Although I do like to come on top with K/d, as long as my team wins at the end, I feel great haha

team NEVER FOR A SINGLE FUCKING MOMENT repainting territory in skatepark even with FOUR dead no quick guys go spawn camp them like epic turf war bros

can't carry this fucking B+ trash

Yep. Again, my experience yesterday. I killed the entire enemy team myself, and they still refused to capture points (even though we were losing). It's insanity. How do these people get to this rank to begin with?

I'm really at a loss for words, how so many people don't understand how to win Splat Zones. And honestly, I feel like I'm always the only one putting in effort at capturing zones. Even in matches that are more close, I'll see the enemy team die, and I'll see teammates just sitting there. It's like HELLO...fuckin pain the zone. Are you stupid. They should be using every second the enemy isn't there, to capture that zone.
