Even if the game is finally announced this year, 3 games in 14 years is a horrible track record for a dev team.

It still surprises me they skipped the PS3 era altogether.

They are just guessing, guys.
Just like their "Zelda at E3" comment. It's just guesswork.
They have no idea what they are talking about. Happens when you don't inform yourself.

Haha

All I can say is that very casual friends loved the Team Ico games(and Katamari) sometimes ask if they are on the new playstation because they want to play them. It's like the only games they know by name.

I find that nearly impossible to believe. You are saying casual friends are asking about a sequel to a game that came out 10 years ago and skipped a generation.

They are also asking about Katamari?????????

Team Ico had two games.

I'll be incredibly excited, but let's not go overboard. Neither Ico nor SotC exactly set the charts on fire. And pretty much nobody outside dedicated gamers has even heard of this game. Even if it's announced, it will produce barely a blip on mainstream media radar screens.

Mainstream media doesn't care about any game out there that's not a paid ad. Besides, you have the Guardian making an article (mainstream) - not to mention the gaming media is all over this game every freaking year at this time (E3). The IGN TLG cancelled article made waves on social media big time. The announcement will be twice as big. But sure.....mainstream media lmao - like when have they cared? I guess MK - "too violent - bad for your kids". COD - "kill Fidel Castro".

Surprised they haven't been fired yet. They must be really inept with the new systems. (And by new I mean PS3 onwards)

The world is a large place. All sort of people fit in it. I also have a friend that bought a Vita for FFX. That is literally the only game he has and don't have any interest in any other. Casual friends are casual and weirder than any 70s movie.

I'll be at a E3 experience, will record video if the announcement happens to see the live reactions to it.
Also GAF servers dead for 2 weeks minimum.

Why is there so much hype on this game?

I'm pretty sure even if it's announced it won't achieve mainstream success.

Now before anyone gets defensive, I'm not saying only a game achieving mainstream success is good.

How many copies a game sells is irrelevant as to whether it's good or not, but I'm wondering why some people are saying that the last guardian releasing would break the Internet and would be the biggest thing ever.

It seems more like a vocal minority getting excited rather than the way people are portraying the excitement EVERY person on the Internet would apparently have.

Outside of neogaf it seems like most people couldn't give a shit about this game, or even have heard of it.

It's certainly tempting me into trying team ico's previous games though, to see what it's all about.

What are you talking about? It shows up every year on mainstream "most anticipated E3" game lists so it's definitely anticipated outside of gaf.

every... year.. :(
