Why not just cut the framerate and resolution like in the past?
im trying really hard to care right now.
343 and Microsoft just shot themselves in the foot.
I don't know how much the rest of you know about Halo culture (I'm an expert), but honor and shame and especially SPLIT SCREEN COOP are huge parts of it. It's not like it is in other fps games where you can become successful by being an asshole. If you screw someone over in Halo, you bring shame to yourself, and the only way to get rid of that shame is repentance.
What this means is the Halo public, after hearing about this, is not going to want to purchase Halo 5 for Xbox One, nor will they purchase any of 343i's games. This is HUGE. You can laugh all you want, but 343i has alienated an entire market with this move.
343i, publicly apologize and put in SPLIT SCREEN COOP for Halo 5 or you can kiss your business goodbye.
This is crazy, Splitscreen co-op has always been one of the strongest features in the series.
This... It's pretty much what Halo is known for.
Gotta sacrifice something for the visuals guys. If they had split screen and cut back the visuals, 343 would be copping shit for how the game looks.
Just buy a second Xbox, simple.
Fuck 343 if true. Bungie needs to take this back.
One of my most used features and what made Halo awesome.
you'd think that the more powerful the consoles get, the easier it should be to render multiple views at once. shows how fucked up the industry's priorities are.
By the way guys, this is only campaign. 2 player split is available in MP.
Ehh. Really?
This is the result when graphics are far and away the most important thing to most gamers. Fuck.
I'd love to see the numbers for how many people actually used the mode.
But the game is 60fps.
I'm certainly no expect but I've seen a lot of games manage just by cutting the frame-rate in half. Further to that you could have lower asset quality.
It's just a real shame.
This + LAN going away bewilders me as it was the staple Halo/XBOX feature.
Man gaming these days![]()
So 2 player splitscreen for online and none for campaign?
4 player online coop for campaign?
Bit confused and my phone is being a nuisance.
Basically yes.
No splitscreen in campaign, however there will be 4 player, drop-in/drop-out co-op which doesn't require gold.
There will be two player split screen in the multiplayer.
What the hell, 343.
I have played every single Halo with my brother, on release, in splitscreen co-op. Everytime it comes out, we set aside a few days to play through the campaign on all difficulties and then head online together.
Thanks a lot, 343, you ruined the one thing I have in common with my brother; couch co-oping a Halo game.
i dont even have friends anyway.
