Splatoon |OT2| Prepare to Dye

GAF, the amiibo are definitely read-only, right? I just got mine today and it wanted me to register nicknames for them. Could someone else still use mine to unlock the challenges?

I have no idea how to use the brush

Spam ZR and while looking up and down to paint large areas, pop into the ink you just spread, repeat. Squid around behind people, mind your spacing, and take them out with a few swipes.

Use it in roller mode to retreat through enemy ink, or to make paths for your teammates.

-Ninja squid and ink resistance are a must. Ninja for being able to escape and get behind people. Ink resistance since you live and die by ink placement for movement and sometimes you gotta go through enemy ink for that.
-Only use the roller mode to traverse unpainted and enemy painted areas quickly, otherwise spam ZR to paint.
-Try to avoid all combat unless you see a way to sneak behind them, otherwise you'll usually die/trade the kill.
-Brush does maximum damage at the brush portion, which is usually 3 swipes. Any closer or farther and you'll be looking at 4 swipes or more.

- Learn the unique geography of every stage. Practice tossing sprinklers in ways to control certain parts of the stage or just generate win conditions/ways own in hot spots.
- Aim upward slightly when doing sweeps with the brush to get the max spread of ink out and cover larger areas quicker.
- Don't rush into confrontations but don't feel as though you can't handle situations. Just use a lot of deception and misdirection with sprinkler tosses and circles around opponents or "boxing them in" with a quick ink splatter behind them if they move to deal with the sprinkler distraction.
- Pay attention to your snipers and rollers if you get lucky enough to be near one. They will help you immensely when it comes to covering ground and you can also help them to defend key points or themselves at close quarters.

That reminds me, I need to go into the practice stages and look for good placements around all the maps.

It only appears in 2 scenes and one of them is upsidedown, but here's the new skyscraper map:

The spawn pads are atop 2 skyscrapers or a construction site with narrow winding catwalks up to them. Most of the map is a walkway between the 2 buildings that you can't really see in these shots because it's so far below. This is the most vertical map yet.

-Don't ink strike right in front of the enemy base in most scenarios. It usually just gives your opponents an easy way to charge up their special meter after respawning. Try to use it to help control areas instead. Of course, firing right in front of the base is fine for last-second ink strikes since the only way they can counter that is with their own ink strike.

Jesus Christ the Wii U decided to stop recognizing my wifi signal 15 seconds away from the end of one of the best matches I've ever played.

It's stunning how many B-rank 20s seem to have not yet realized you can jump to other players on your team.
It's not a smart idea to randomly jump towards your teammates because an enemy could be waiting for you or you have given out your teammates hiding spot. You need ninja squid jump to be undetected and even then it's risky to jump. Most people in A Ranks either just run there or use the squid jump to the player that is in the safest place. That doesn't mean people in A rank don't do stupid things like jump in the middle of a fire fight, but that's pretty rare to see.

Me and zero are on one, where's the rest
I'll join you guys in 10 mins, I have to take care of some stuff before I can play again.

On a similar note, if you feel swamped and are losing territory to stay submerged in, an Inkstrike in the "immediate dash away" distance from yourself is a good idea if a bit desperate. Taking advantage of the chaos can give you a last breath of fresh air to re-orient yourself in.
