Actually, completely independent of the action of the match, I'd like to see an overhead replay so you can see the progress of the inking. Something a bit like Civilization's replay map at the end of a game:

That one would be pretty amazing too. There's a lot of songs that could work in one way or another (I'm just a bit biased for Squid Sisters since it reminds me of another anime and I can't remember which so it's stuck to my head but surprisingly not annoying me)

I think Callie and Marie's unskippable news is related to the fact that the game is getting constant updates. They specifically mention new stages (ie additional stages added to rotation) and weapons (Sheldon will have the deets). I'm guessing if you've put the game down for a few weeks and you launch it you're going to get a lot of information about new content since your last session. I guess Nintendo wanted that to be mandatory listening for players who've been away from Inkopolis for a while. Maybe I'm weird but even though I play almost every day they don't bother me.

Anyway, first Splatfest is almost here. Spyke is excited.

I remember when that Splatoon direct was on, and Callie and Marie appeared, and everyone was like, "Wtf is this shit, are these things in the game, what the hell is going on here"

I dunno man, there are some studios and productions that show some desire to push aesthetics over going full cheapo if provided a proper budget. Still for all, this series deserves something great.

That feeling when you already know you'll probably miss out on the first EU Splat Fest due to traveling...despite looking forward to it since it was first announced...

I do have time this weekend Nintendo! I also had time last weekend! Why wait so long?

By the way, do we know how frequently Splat Fests will be held?

Oh, and when are they exactly in all territories? (Sorry if this was answered earlier.)

I'm in the same boat. On 27th I will be in holiday. And by the current schedule it seems that the splatfests are quite rare, so I'm kind of sad about it.
 
Time-based events.....

.....the Animal Crossing influence of EAD2 is permeating Splatoon in the best possible ways.
 
1) That Youtube video is like a really well-made fan video, making it 300% better than every NA video they have made.

2) I replay this video just for the music. Gotta stay fresh.
 
Those animations are BRILLIANT. The whole art style is fantastic. I get hyped with this shit and would LOVE to see Splatoon launch into some crazy popular IP with it's own cartoon series.

Also, the whole Callie/Marie hand thing should absolutely catch on.
 
So some beautiful genius remade the Squid Sisters song from this trailer on a Gameboy. It sounds fantastic.

I need to make sure my Inkling looks fresh as fuck for the Splatfest. Need to grab some new gear.

I just wish this game had a day/night cycle. Looks awesome during the day but at night its just magical.

Nintendo has handled this property amazingly. The trailers, the marketing and everything has been first class.
