Fret not guys. Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales will save us if Amazon, EB Games, or Wal-Mart doesn't save us this E3 (I HOPE).

80$ + 13% tax. Comes out to be 90$. Hilarious.

Thanks Harper, its not like we got salary raise or anything. We just got fucked.

I have 4 games preordered last year. So I am good.

It's really not just harper. the drop in oil prices hit the tar sands extremely hard since it is the most expensive way to produce oil. Yes Harper really did push for oil sands development, but we also have other oil producing nations to blame for driving down prices.

There's still amazon...right guys?

Is there still a three game limit per order? If I can just order one at a time, there are a couple games I KNOW I want that I guess I might as well grab.

Ya don't think I'll be preordering this year, but at least I still have games from the last two on preorder like Mirrors Edge and The Division for $39.99, and Arkham Knight, Uncharted, and Rise of the Tomb Raider for $49.99.

This is really going to kill my preorders. Last few years I preordered 20+ games at E3 and with game prices hitting 80 bucks, it looks like I'll be waiting for price drops.

Sad times; end of an era.

GG BB. With this crap instead of preordering handheld games/cheap titles I'll preorder nothing. Get fucked.

Back to PC gaming I go
Pretty much. I'm SO happy I bought a decent rig last year. The extra wait for games like Persona 5 won't be as bad with the mountain of great games in my PC backlog that I have at my disposal.

This is so terrible I can't help but laugh.

I guess it's a good thing I upgraded my pc recently and there's less console exclusive games I want to buy so I can stick with steam sales and GMG. If only more fighting games came out day 1 on PC I'd be set.

I have terrible luck with Amazon preorders but I have no qualms relying on that if they get something better.

Last year it was hard to stomach the $65 and $70. $75 and $80! LOL. This might be the end of E3 sales, in Canada, as we know it.

Yeah Canadian game prices are ridiculous now. 79.99 + taxes which comes at more than 90$ is like going back in the cartridge days in the 90's. I remember back in the days i bought NBA Jam for SNES for 89.99$ + taxes which was almost 105$... crazy !

I've been way more selective with my games since they are expensive and i have a hard time finishing them anyway. Just gotta look for deals.

I'm still gonna preorder handheld stuff and maybe a handful of console games I really want

perpetuating the problem >_>

Even $60 was a tough sell most of the time, now it's impossible. The only good thing about this is Fallout 4 will have a good five or six patches under it's belt by the time I pick it up.

Fuck, still preordering fallout 4

Amazon has very good preorder price protection, if they reduce the price anytime after you preorder you get the lower price (automatically) AND the discount.

I preordered AC Unity, arkham knight and the order 1886 for 69.99 and by the time they shipped I got them for around $52 with a further 1/3 off. (Obviously AK hasnt shipped yet but im getting a good price on it).

Yeah, fuck that. I'm fine waiting for games to drop in price and/or buying used.

Only problem is the Nintendo releases... urgh.

Well, on the bright side this will help in reducing my backlog of games from the previous E3 sales. That, and I still have some games coming from last years sale.

For these E3 preorders does the money need to be in there at the time of preorder, or is it the usual charged once shipped?

Charged when shipped, and you can always return any game after it ships. And from Amazon, you can cancel individual games before they ship; Best Buy only allows you to cancel the entire order which can't be done once the first game ships.

only charged once shipped

unless you use the paypal option some websites use

Perfect, thanks. I'll likely go this route since I plan on getting a lot of fall games anyway (unless Amazon comes out with something better). But still pretty crazy that a deal is getting a game at regular price now.

Yup, I'm out.

I refuse to pay more than $40 for new games. Luckily, I'm still set for the next year or two thanks to E3 pre-order deals of the past, but I can't drop $60+ per game anymore. I have the patience to wait for a price drop on most games. Meanwhile, I have plenty of cheaper PC and retro games to play.

Approach this with a rational mind, fellow Canadian gamers.

Kijiji is your friend if you can wait one week after game launch.

If you have a back catalogue and can wait, then Shoppers Drug Mart and other big box stores has those crazy deals as we approach October.

If you have a family member and an Xbox, then go digital and split the cost.

I already stopped buying new games. These companies gotta do what they gotta do but instead of me buying a game at $59.99 like before, I'll just wait until they go down to $30 instead now. There is no way in hell I pay $80 + tax for a video game.

This is great. Summed it up perfectly.

Now let's all move this discussion into the bigger Canadian deals thread so we can all discuss how there are no deals anywhere right now Lol :)

Meh, it's better than 80$. Hopefully Rock Band 4 will go up for pre order , and is eligible. Would love some kind of discount on that.

Well, I don't game as much as before. My genre (JRPG) isn't as good as it used to be and I have some backlog to finish.

I just need to pre-order Persona 5 on PS4. I pre-ordered the PS3 version a year ago.

Devastating .

I've preordered every big game of the past 3 years thanks to this deal. Now I'm actually not buying a single game at launch until prices become reasonable again. Nothing good lasts.

Thankfully I still have U4, batman, MGSV, last guardian (lol) and final fantasy 15 (lol) preordered from past deals.

That just makes 8% off with tax. I guess I'm still sticking with digital; good thing I don't particularly have anything I must play from Nintendo this year and I don't mind digital from the PSN.

The boxed deal PSN cards are in stock.

Best Buy already killed any incentive I had to buy from them. No more rewards visa, no more $10 in points for pre-orders.

Now I have an amazon points visa, so we'll see how their sales go. Their regular prices are also $80 for many games though..

Yup, my day 1 retail purchases have decreased and now they will completely vanish.

I can wait 3-4 months to play a game, plenty of indies around to fill the time.

Preordered about 30 games over the last two years using the Future Shop/BB promo

I'll be preordering zero this year

RIP Canadian gaming deals

Same. At least I still haven't gotten a bunch of the games from last year so there's still 'bargains' on the way.

That's fine. When they get drastically fewer pre-orders than in past years perhaps they'll reconsider their promotional approach.

You guys do realize there is absolutely zero point in owning most of these games on Day 1, right?
The only reason we pre-ordered in the first place was due to massive discounts and those discounts are now gone.
These games still cost $70 after tax. Not sub-$50.

When you consider that games should really retail for $74.99 to match the current exchange rate instead of $79.99, this is only a $10 savings.

Zero reasons? I have one: you want the game on Day 1.

Though you're right about the exchange rate. The problem here is that Canadians are okay with being overcharged for things and always have been. We really have no choice if our desires and options never line up. I think there will need to be a severe mismatch in cost versus value for enough people to take action (or inaction, in this case).

Yeah I have the same issue. Gonna try and flip persona for as close to full to subsidize the fact that it's gonna cost like $90 for the ps4 version.
