Splatoon |OT2| Prepare to Dye

Anyone have any tips on using the rollers? Specifically on the Krak-on Roller.

After that losing streak knocking me back to C+, I climbed my way back to B- by focusing on trying out new weapons and wearing clothes to suit them. At the moment, I'm having a lot of success with the Tentatek Splattershot wearing Ninja Squid, Ink Saver, and that boost for swimming in ink. Before, I had whatever gear on without thinking and only used the .52. I've gotten a lot better since then, but I realize the way to get good at the game is to keep trying new stuff. So yeah, I have no idea how to effectively use rollers.
 
I like how there isnt a specific choke point for the dome, even if you control the center. Will be very interesting
Edit: Nevermind didnt see some walls. Center is chokepoint.
 
My daughter wants this game. Anyone's 7 year old plays this game...? She's never played a shooter. Is it good for uh... "new players?"
 
Getting to Level 20 is nice because now I don't feel the pressure to rack up points and level up anymore, and can just worry about winning the Turf Wars.

Been finding that this is one of the only games I've played where playing defensively is actually fun. Been playing Dual Squelcher almost exclusively lately and have had a lot of fun walling people out, controlling zones, and hunting down players with it. It feels like a "game manager" weapon more than an offensive tool. You can waste so much of the other team's time by just shooting straight ahead at a chokepoint and slowing moving toward them. Echolocate is another great game management tool. I think Ink Saver is a must for this weapon.

The only thing I don't like about the Dual Squelcher is that the .96 Gal can pick you off pretty easily. The snipers also prevent you from camping, so seeing if the other team has a sniper is the first thing to watch for.

I should give the Dual Squelcher a shot. Never used it, but that does sound kinda cool.
 
Does anyone know when we will get worldwide sales numbers?

If Japan already sold ~250k, do you think it will hit 1 million? I'd say yes.
 
I learned how to use the inkbrush last night. I was directly responsible for losing several matches for a handful of people, but I started getting the hang of it and getting top lobby scores.

I really love it. It just seems like such an annoying weapon to lose to, so splatting people makes me very happy. It works pretty well as an ink spreading loadout too, which I wasn't expecting.

My nephew is 6 and he gets the hang of it. Of course not like older gamers. However, he has been playing video games since he was like 3 lol. I don't think he plays online too much.

I'd say it's a shoe-in for over a million units eventually. Looking forward to the NPD; Nintendo might give some statement about how much it's sold through the first two weeks of June rather than just the end of May
 
I've gotten to Level 15, and I am determined to master the Dynamo Roller.

I think some abilities are needed to really maximize it's potential, but I'll have to make due with what I've got until I get to level 20. At least I've got Ninja Squid for sneaky ink waves.

Yeah, a lot of my kills with the charger are two hits kills or from inking in front of someone and getting an easier OHKO since they're not at 100 health. Is why damage up is so useful. I never wait to get full charge to hit someone.

Just won a match where 3 of the enemy team super jumped to their ally in our base while me and a teammate killed him, then just camped as all 3 landed then proceeded to cover 3/4ths of the map.

The single player is super slow paced too, its pretty laid back and easy to pick up. Just show her that she can hide in her own ink when she turns in to a squid and she can take her time aiming at enemies.

It's great how the superjump mechanic completely exposes bad players
 
People have really started wising up to my use of the splatcharger. I've spotted some pretty devious diversion tactics being used to sneak some rollers past my vigil. And they always sneak past, rather than splatting me. Some have even been using Ink Resistance Up in order to walk through my ink, so that I won't notice an enemy ink trail.

You have to be pretty active in this game as a charger if there aren't insane choke points like the Mall has. Otherwise it's inevitable that someone will sneak past you.

Install the turrets at strategic points depending the map you're on,3 max iirc, there's too many users neglicting it, use them like a diversion as the enemy will focus to destroy it asap, and to check enemy presence if you look at the gamepad, this is really effective and is usually what I do everytime on ranking (works on turf wars too but this is chill mode), also, imo, it's better to use the roller with its shot than rolling, make it less obvious on the map to see what's on the way, and your special fill pretty fast, as for the kraken, use it to scare/ cut the path of the other team, and be sure to be able to swim for your life once it's done, there's always THAT sniper ready to shoot once out of it.

The roller should've already shot the roller by then, the charger sucks. That roller shoots pretty far, so you would hope people know.

I suck at rollers, but from my observation quality beacon placement in ranked is critical, at least on certain maps. Try to place beacons somewhere close to the zone but in a defensible location, so your team mates can get back in the game quickly. Other than that I mostly get killed by rollers who catch me off guard. Either by hiding in the paint or sneaking up on me.

Personally I have the following skills:

Tenacity(for quicker Kraken when you are losing)
Ninja Squid(for backstabbing)
Ink Resistance Up(simply the only MUST have skill I've found in the game)

Never Jump to an area if it's unsecured or too close to the front lines.
Back off when people notice you.
Ink to get the Kraken and pop it in the first fight you get into and as many times as you can.
Try to get sub skills which allow for faster Kraken aka Special Charge Up, Special Duration Up, Special Saver.
Also Run Speed Up is another very good sub skill for Roller users since it allows you to run away to your own ink puddle in opposition ink, while people are firing at you. Possibly Defense Up is another good option.

Try to get your sub ability placed in key locations. Use Kraken while someone on your team has used Eco Location.

Any good Roller Player will tell you that getting double/triple kills requires to jump and snap your roller at your enemies. Gyro allows this

Correct -- your rolling speed is always the same. edit: yeah, he's just saying running through enemy ink

Technically you should jump to your allies to save about 10 seconds doing nothing if you're facing certain death anyway.

Why would you ever walk as a roller?

I mean you would a little but you should be roller every chance you get. Seems like a worthless perk for a roller.

Maybe your jump attack range increases since you do it in human form? I dont know.
 
Keep in mind that you can stop a kraken if you're using an aerospray/ roller(not dynamo, you're done with this) by shooting at it if it tries to come for you.
Edit : here's the skills I usually use : Main : Special charge up / Ninja squid / Stealth jump, and second : Quick respawn and Ink saver (sub).
