It baffles me that the Publishers Iga talked to said "demand for that sort of game doesn't exist" and then Iga and this fundraising campaign manages to be single largest kickstarter funded video game thus far.
Understandable game development isn't cheap and publishers are terrified and not knowing if a game is going to break even or financially break them for taking such a risk. But looking at things in retrospective. From what I'm taking from the recent trend of Kickstarters is that publishers clearly have a disconnect with their customers and apparently don't really know what the audience truly wants.
