Koji Igarashi Kickstarts Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night (2.5D, backdash, 2018)

So guys, I have unfortunate news for those who thought that you could get Beta access by choosing the $125 tier. I reached out to IGA about it, and this is the response:

Wait no backer bonus content for the digital copy on the $125 tier? I might have to change my pledge, I was planning on keeping the digital version and giving the physical to a friend. :(

All PC versions? That last quote goes against what their FAQ says. I hope they can clear this up soon, because I was going to up my pledge from $60 to $125 for digital PC and physical Vita but not if I won't get the beta access.

Yup, I was even told I would get the Kickstarter exclusives on both items with the $125 pledge tier.

I'm considering raising my pledge level from SPECIAL BACKER EDITION (DIGITAL COPY) to ALCHEMIST'S TREASURE + DIGITAL GAME, however, will I still receive beta access if I were to choose PlayStation 4 as my physical copy and GOG as my digital copy?

In addition, am I correct in assuming that both copies would include the Kickstarter exclusive bonuses?
Yes, that's all correct, except that beta access will be available if you choose the Windows GOG copy.

Thank you for your support!
So I would have to choose the Windows GOG copy as my physical choice instead of digital to receive beta access? I apologize, but your answer didn't come off quite clear.
Ah, sorry for the confusion. Beta access is available to all Windows versions of PC, so physical Steam, digital Steam, physical GOG and digital GOG all have access to beta as long as it's the Windows version. (That means if you got the physical PS4 and then the digital GOG for Windows, you'd have beta access.) Hope that clears it up.
Reposting this for the new page.
Anyone willing to ask for clarification? I meant to pledge $125 for a console physical + PC digital deal, but no extras/beta access in the digital copy would honestly make me rethink that.

Just sent them this message:

I have a new concern now as a result of another user's post on a forum I participate in. In that post, he/she claims they were told that choosing a Windows PC platform will, in fact, not grant beta access let alone the Kickstarter exclusives.

You can see the post here: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=167404374&postcount=9293

So, I must ask, which is it then? Are the answers provided here the case or is the answer provided to that user actually the case instead?

GUYS they sent me another email! To clarify about this whole thing:

Koji Igarashi says:
Oh, sorry for the confusion! There was a mix-up! If you were to add-on a $28 digital copy as an additional add-on to an existing tier, THAT's when a PC version wouldn't include the bonus content or beta access.
To clarify, the $125 tier can be mixed and matched with different platforms, and both WILL have the bonus content. And beta access is available to all backer-exclusive PC versions--so that means all physical Steam, digital Steam, physical GOG and digital GOG in the $125 and $175+ tiers have beta access.
Hope that makes sense!

Yeesh, what a clusterfuck they have going with these pledge restrictions.

I wonder how many users have held back upping their pledge because they think they'll be screwed out of an option or exclusive item.

I do love how the comment section thinks we developed this issue because we're just trolling instead of legitimate concern due to conflicting information from the team behind the campaign.

Well, this is the biggest if we only consider kickstarter money.

The only crowdfunded proyects that are videogame related that have generated more money are Star Citizen and the Ouyalol. I wonder how IGA feels, knowing that he has surpassed everyone else.

My question is, how the fuck did Star Citizen make that much money? holy shit.

It was but only $2.1M of their $83M came from Kickstarter.

Yeah it's incredibly huge.

With the amount of money for that game visible in the public for those following the campaign it makes you wonder if it will ever live up the expectations.

I understand game development isn't cheap, but 83 Million just sounds bonkers.

How do games like GTA5 make back their money? If people want something they will pay for it. Show something people really are craving and they will throw money at you like a stripclub in Vegas.

When is the Twitch stream or whatever, IIRC that KS campaign ends tomorrow.
Nevermind, found it. They'll stream in 20 hours, campaign ends exactly 24 hours from now.
I hope they can make the full 5M, would feel more "complete" to me.

Kickstarter campain ends in 29 hours

Live Twitch stream starts in 25 hours

Man, I gotta say its impressive how thoroughly Shovel Knight has been embraced by the gaming community worldwide. Dude is showing up everywhere. Literally all the sempais have noticed Yacht Club Games. They must be ecstatic. Good for them.

On a related note, while I'm sure some see Shovel Knight and go "OMG Axe Armor", I'd hope he doesn't take up a playable character slot. I want those to go to characters actually important to the world of Bloodstained and not just a guest character.

The campaign ends at 11pm EST tomorrow. That's in just under 30 hours. Their stream will start at 7pm EST tomorrow - that's in just under 26 hours.

That's what happens when you keep the donation box open for years. :P

Seriously though, it's not unlike what we've been seeing here only stretched over a period of years. They keep adding more and more tiers, goals and rewards.

Shovel knight would be perfect for the multiplayer coop mode though. That needs a good pool of playables and he'd be fun and unique.

It baffles me that the Publishers Iga talked to said "demand for that sort of game doesn't exist" and then Iga and this fundraising campaign manages to be single largest kickstarter funded video game thus far.

Understandable game development isn't cheap and publishers are terrified and not knowing if a game is going to break even or financially break them for taking such a risk. But looking at things in retrospective. From what I'm taking from the recent trend of Kickstarters is that publishers clearly have a disconnect with their customers and apparently don't really know what the audience truly wants.

In any case Iga's probably feeling like this right now - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SnCLx4ztz0c

As for the publishers that turned down Iga and are regretting that decision, I wouldn't blame them if this is how they felt - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i0Oe5Kqijvs

I'm pretty sure the 3rd playable character will be Gebel, given the wording on the site.

Deal has been struck with Yacht Club Games.

Shovel Knight is in the game!

I kinda expected this, IGA seemed to fucking LOVE Shovel Knight when he played it in the KS announcement stream.

so, i kinda forgot about the kickstarter but then i saw the video with the gameplay.
well i guess i can say "Whoo--hoo"

Re-backed! This time it's the physical tier, and I will stick to it.

Konami can suck it with the microtransaction-fest MGSV.

An IGA developed Metroidvania does not sound like a huge risk for a digital game, but going by the new art and previous DS/GBA sales, its hard to blame them.
IGA said they were supportive at least. and of course, thanks to Kickstarter we will have an even better game now.

I am surprised the publisher only asked 10% of the overall budget though. could have been 20% and still would be understandable.

We are 500K away from it

More like 450K. There is also 150K of Paypal funds to also include as well.

450K on the final day is a very realistic goal.

Mighty No, 9 for example made 600k in it's last day.

Will it be possible to watch this later. I won;t be able to watch it live unfortunately.

I won't be able to watch it live either. I'll be in Delaware for most of the day and into late Afternoon tomorrow.
