Forza Motorsport 6 has "wet weather, 3D puddles and night races" + more

I have a feeling this will be the best Forza game ever.

I just hope they make the career a little more fun, maybe FM2 esque.

Mate, I played FM2 9 months ago...there's no fun there.

It's all just basic races and no link between any of them.

Sorta like FM5 is, which ain't fun at all. :P

FM3 is where it needs to aim, 4 if you wanna be atleast better than 2 and 5.

Or maybe that could do something new, like full race weekend with practice and qualifying plus a race length slider that allows us to have races longer than 3 laps.

PGR was one of the best racing games out there. I like the open world approach of Horzion as an arcade racer, but I really miss PGR...

I wish MS would revive PGR and Rallisport Challenge.

This, so much. Horizon is great, but it just isn't PGR. PGR2 is my GOAT racer - the heart-pounding "I'm doing it! I'm doing it! ....FUCK YOU!!!" cone challenges, the "I have to find HOW MANY extra MPH?!" speed challenges, the titanic battle for a gold medal in the finale by getting second place round 2 laps of the Nordschlieffe with no rewind...

I miss it so much.

If Dan keeps the old two-lap races in then... well, he hasn't really been paying attention, has he?

How hard can it possibly be for a 400 people strong studio? Practice is basically letting you get the feel for the car on the track, qualifying is practically a glorified time trial, it's already pretty much in the engine. Merge that with drivatars and it becomes more interesting cause they can pull qualifying results from other people and put it in your game, practically it's current leaderboards presented slightly differently. A length slider is easy too - we already can setup the number of laps in free play. All these things are pretty much already in the game, they just need to pull it all together.

I just think Dan doesn't like motorsport.

What was 3 like I honestly don't remember. I just liked the fact you could use your starter car almost throughout the entire thing. In the later Forza's they just throw new cars at you left and right and there was no incentive to ever stay with the same car. I did hate those sidewinder events though. Plus what happened to endurance races?

Slightly related about the laps, but I remember when Monumental took over the MotoGP license in 09. They released a version that only had 3 lap races, in all modes. You couldn't adjust it in SP or for online. You couldn't do a real lap career.

They said the research and data for most racing games showed people wanted quick races and disliked long races in any mode.

In addition to that, it was a game tailored for that nebulous "casual" fan a la Codemasters, and it failed. Badly.
Physics dumbed down, laps limited, aspects of the actual motorsport scaled back to avoid scaring non-racing fans away. All it did was tick off their niche sim fans, and it didn't grab the casual fans either. But that point is unrelated to Forza. But I do bet they have similar data about the race length. Forza 3 had some decent endurance races.

Monumental did patch the lap limit due to the backlash though.

I would bet that if you told most audiences that a career mode race involved racing the same track three times over, and one of those times you weren't even really racing anyone, that they'd say that sounds boring and you're crazy. I really do think some of the structural stuff behind these games is the result of what players theoretically want in a game.

Options. Qualifying shouldn't be mandatory but you should be penalised for not partaking in it, similar to how you are penalised for using assists like rewind. Don't quality? Start in last place.
A flag system is my most wanted addition but I don't expect that to come for a looooong time, maybe not ever.

That's more or less what I want.

Interesting bit of info from a graphics engineer job posting for Turn 10 studios.
Come join our team at this exciting time as we push the graphical limits of Microsoft gaming platforms.

A qualified applicant must have four or more years of experience with C++, strong 3D math background and three years’ experience with graphics technologies such as D3D. The candidate should also have experience with multiple lighting models, dynamic lights and lighting.

400 people? That seems... excessive. Do you have a link for that?

That number includes outside contract work.

Turn 10 doesn't have qualifying because they've always treated the game as a track day racer... Maybe this attitude will change with the addition of thinks like weather and night racing?

Sorry for the wait, I had to design one that worked better on brighter backgrounds.

Forza Zorbing 6 confirmed..? These E3 leaks just keep on coming!

Ever since I saw a video of a guy die in one of those... they creep me out.

They lost control of it going down a mountain slope and it continued all the way down the mountain and snapped the neck of one of the men while his best friend watched him die....... :/

I wouldn't mind it either but again, three first party exclusive racing games seems little out there... Maybe if one of them was also on PC?

Yes please. I really think they could do a Forza Gotham Racing or something similar, I know people say Horizon is similar but I don't see it at all, those PGR drift physics are worlds apart from any of the big racers out atm.
