Splatoon |OT2| Prepare to Dye

I hypothesize that Team Cat will have better technical players, but Team Dog will have better teamwork. Regardless I have to keep it real with Team Dog.

Question GAF since my roommate and I have been arguing over this:

Do you guys think that having a team that gets a high kill count is a deciding factor towards winning a ranked match?

My reasoning is that it is one of the most important factors, since keeping the opponents constantly respawning gives your team time to capture both points along with other significant vantage points.

My roommate is arguing from a Turf War mindset saying territory is more important, but it doesn't matter if the team can't hold it.

A high kill count is generally good, but its best to keep at least 2 people on the defensive - so they may not get the highest kill counts but are way more useful in case one or two break through your line of attack.

Stupid question but I often hear people talking about "rerolling" to get different abilities/perks.

What is that???

Is that buying the same gear over again and hoping for a different outcome or something less luck based???

It's equally luck based, but once you reach Level 20 you can buy extra slots for gear from Spyke or ask him to reroll your sub-perks. (can't reroll main ones)

No, when you hit level 20 Spyke gives you the option to reroll the sub abilities for 30k or add a slot to items for 30k.

8 Hours of Ranked today tells me that it depends.

I've lost battles where we pushed them back to spawn mostly except the points of where you win.

I've lost battles where our team got more kills.

I think the most important thing in Splatzones is to Stay Alive. For example, I had 2 people throwing Suction Bombs into the Mall Area once, but because I was able to mostly dodge them until my teammates came, we didn't let them have the point.

surviving is the most important aspect imo, even though you may have a high kill count, it's usually the same persons that are getting splatted, the smarter ones will survive, secure the zone and clean vital paths just so the time wasted becomes fatal to the other team.

I think not dying is way more important than getting a fuckton of kills.

Say you go 21-6. Cool, you got lots of kills. If you had no Quick Respawn then congrats, you were also dead for about 54 seconds + however long it took for you to get back to the zone. Good job.

someone who goes 21-6 in ranked carried the damn game, lol
there wouldn't be an enemy team left to capture the zone

But dawg you cost the other team like 210 seconds

You should always win at that point tbh, deaths are more important up to a point

I assume the way I came across was "go for high kill count" rather than "keep enemy team dead?" Staying alive is definitely important since having your team in constant respawn is ultimately what defeats you. Just sounds like the different side of the same coin though since that is what the player's team is trying to do to their opponent; keep them dead and in respawn to hold territory longer.

Because all I do is ignore the splat zone and go straight to the enemy base right? I'm saying keeping them dead keeps them from regaining territory.

I would say kills are definitely important, but that's not to say that guy who got only 3 kills and 3 deaths in a close game didn't do anything. I think for players that aren't using chargers, how many times they activate their special weapon and use it well is very important for Splat Zones. They are what make the comebacks or help maintain a lead.

The Killer Wail on Port Mackeral and Arowana Mall are like "you shall not pass this point".

Nah single player is fine. I'm really bad at hitting moving targets online.. Maybe my sensitivity is off...
Well you say it's only been an hour or two so I would say keep going with it because it does help with aiming, but don't be afraid to go to analog if it never does click, this is coming from someone who uses analog has max rank and doesn't feel like anyone has an advantage over him so it's definitely possible to be just as good as everyone else without using motion

Before I finish the SP I'm going back to get the scrolls I missed. Having a super hard time in Level 5 though. Floating Sponge Garden. I guess ni don't want a hint, I just want to ow if it's an obvious location. Or a particularly devious one. Thanks!

When deciding whether to go for a kill, it really boils down to how productive those people would have otherwise been. It's usually a waste of time to kill someone that has just left their base, or pick on the deadweight team member. But killing people who enter your side of the map uncontested, or just got their inkstrike special, is 100% worth a trade-off death.

Finally managed to get my terrible recording equipment to record a couple of matches (in 'glorious' 480i). I'm using a Roller here, but I usually use a Charger.

Gonna try recording some more in a couple of hours, hopefully get it to output a better picture. I'll also be jamming with my Charger.

The answer is in your post.

Do you see a pattern with where the other ones are hidden???

Loving a bomb rush on ranked on port mackerel as well, great way of securing a splat zone.

Level 5 has one of the more devious scrolls to find.
