They can be great and then other times they can be infuriating, sometimes certain people's dismissive and cynical attitudes can make you wonder why in the fuck they have a career in covering games.
But for general screwing around and discussions about the overall industry or whatever, they're usually good.
Thanks mate I guess the best definition for them is entertaining than...

They're great guys overall, the good outweighs the bad, but that was my simplest and honest opinion of them after listening to the entire podcast archive up to mid way into 2014 and watching a lot of their quicklooks.

Why have you lost respect for them?

It's mainly Jeff to be honest. I used to love dude. He's just so negative now, it's irritating to hear people talk shit about games you like (when they're actually good games). Or to just hear someone who doesn't have the same passion they used to have. I hope one day he'll snap outta the funk he's in when it comes to games.

That's actually kinda hot

If this is leading back to Driveclub, you may as well get the hell out.

If it isn't, don't play Driveclub.

The games industry is going to shit – he's been in this industry for 20 years and he has a right to his opinion on most AAA games that release broken. There's literally nothing to show optimism for because this industry isn't going in a direction that will continue to release good games. Everything is broken, released with a shit-ton of DLC and microtransactions.

I don't know why you all of a sudden let what people say about a game you like bring you down so much, enjoy the game and disagree. Saying you lose respect for someone who's job is to give an opinion is a bit extreme – they're just video games at the end of the day.

I would actually say that Jeff is at the least negative that he's ever been. He's in a really good place in his life and is always in a good mood now.

Jeff's hatred is pure, it's honest.

Yeah. I think most of the cynicism is for comedic relief to be honest. I mean, what isn't funny about his Destiny rants? Especially that GOTY one.

The irony of actually going to E3 this year is that I'll actually miss a lot of this stuff. Oh well, I will love listening to the bombcasts when I get back!

The game industry is not going to shit. PC is doing better than ever, PS4 is selling fantastically, we have tons and tons of fantastic AAA and indie games releasing constantly and most AAA games do not release broken. Listening to game enthusiast press talk about gaming and coming to the conclusion that the industry is going to shit is like listening to the media talk about violence, crime and poverty and coming to the conclusion that society is going to shit, even though the exact opposite is true.

I do miss when Giant Bomb's whole website layout would change for E3 and they had a specialized intro bumper with a sweet song for every video.

If they don't have any plans for a dedicated E3 hub, the website will be a nightmare to navigate this year like it's been previous years. The trailers drown out the videos they release. Better bookmark this page.

Even Jeff has said multiple times that he thinks the medium as a whole is in a better state than it has ever been, mainly due to the indie scene.

Well at least my ridiculous commute to work suck as much.

Makes me less sad that I'll be missing most if not all the conferences this year

Surely, there could have been better pictures of Jason and Austin for the OP

Also, just imagine every other enthusiast outlet, especially those much, much bigger than GB, seeing this and being sad that they didn't get their own dedicated GAF thread.

Well at least they're streaming everything to Youtube this year in case it does come to that. I'll be on the lookout for that events page though, as I would rather help generate activity to the site than to youtube.

Damn, I had forgotten what a mess the homepage becomes. Video Buddy app to the rescue - filters trailers out and provides a simple linear list of all videos posted chronologically.

I'd completely forgotten what a pain the site can be to navigate during E3, hopefully there's something in place to make finding archives less of a nightmare.

Patrick's cynicism always felt genuine to me. Especially during these kinds of events where they talk over conferences...he turned up the snark to 1000%.

He continues to be a great writer doing great things at Kotaku but I'm kinda glad we're getting a different experience this year with the talk over conference thingys.

Yeah, it's not like it's difficult to find on the site or anything like that, it's just that it takes 5 seconds more than it should :P

Giant Bomb makes E3 for me. Super pumped!

Kinda sad they won't get a chance to talk over the PC conference though. Mainly because I feel like that one has the highest chance to go hilariously wrong or awkward in some places. Also its 3 hours long - I can't watch that without snark.

Jeff is rarely ever the one I take issue with even when he actually is being that way, partly because he is generally aware when he is and will acknowledge that he realizes that he isn't the target audience of a game he doesn't like, so at that point he's being reasonable enough where I can understand his perspective and it's fine.

I can/am willing to only watch a couple of the conferences live due to timezones, but GB commentary definitely makes it worth watching the ones I've missed after the fact.

Like Vinny, I'm a big Ratchet and Clank fan so I'm pumped to see more of what that new Ratchet game is going to be. Here's hoping it goes in more of an open world-y direction though.

oh, I'd forgotten about the talkovers. Will watch vanilla live, then catch up with the talkovers a day or two afterwards.
