Steam Summer Sale 2015 thread of refunding everything you buy (June 11-21)

Grabbed the Alien Isolation season pass. Good price today imo.

How is Fable Anni btw.? I always wanted to play Fable but from what I read in the reviews on Steam I should better stick to Lost Chapters, right?

Oh man, Styx: Master of Shadows is INCREDIBLE, the best stealth game I played in 10+ years. No minimap, no x-ray, just amazing gameplay and godlike level design, with a pretty damn interesting plot so far.
Forget Batman, Thief 4, MGSV and other AC shit, Styx is the real deal.
The production value and art design are great too. It's really puzzling how we hardly hear anything about that game.

For me it's the best surprise of the sale so far.

I've wanted to get this game for a while. And everyone's been super iffy about the game. This is almost the first glowing review I've seen of the game on gaf.

For some reason I always look at Lost Planet 2 during big sales. It's not discounted to 8 bucks, which is a great price. Has a great co-op.

Paid version gives a lot of credits to use to play some modes that can only be played by paying.

I see. Even then you could try the game once its free and then purchase those credits i would assume.

But that's just me. People can do what they want with their money.

Also, is anyone's Flash Sales saying 33 hours left until new ones?

Ah, think that may have been a bug, now it's showing 8GB for single player as well.

First time I swore it said 49gb for single player and 52 for mp.

The two apps share data, so if you have one installed then you don't need to download everything when installing the other.

Some are in the same area, where you play as minor characters from the campaign and learn a bit more of the backstory. Some have new areas (or entirely different locations like the ones based on the movies).

Largely they're just challenge maps with some window dressing though.

hmm so not a lot of story/non-sneaky gameplay? doesnt really sound worth it lol

Accidentally posted in the wrong thread, but:

I want to pick up one of the Civilization games but I'm not sure where to start. I want something that is newbie friendly as I have never played anything like it (I know). Civ 5 complete edition? The new space one or something older?

Civ V Complete. You want to get Civ V with Gods & Kings and Brave New World, as well as all of the Civ, scenario and wonder DLC. It will literally provide you hundreds, if not over a thousand, hours of entertainment.

You'll install Civ V, start playing it, hit one more turn and then suddenly it's Tuesday.

I think I'm one of the rare people that likes Beyond Earth (it has been patched a few times since released and there are a lot of good community mods) but Civ V Complete is where you want to start if you're just entering the series.

Anyone thinks Rocksmith will go on sale ? And if so, what about DLCs ? They are currently showing at full price. I looked forward to this summer sale to boost my set list for Rocksmith 2014.

It was discounted further for 24 hours as part of the first set of yesterday's Flash Sales. It may reappear later or it may not.

Edit: All of the DLC for the original Rocksmith was 40% off while only select DLC for 2014 was discounted (also -40%).

Gah- I bought Democracy 3 for my politics/ stats obsessed kid (don't ask), then noticed it was also on sale on GOG, as also was the DLC. I don't want to go through a refund process for the sake of a quid, so does anyone know if the GoG DLC works with the Steam base game? I'm assuming it would do, but the Steam version has achievements and cards, so I'm not sure.

Yeah it's a glitch. Had this from the first day. Just remember the hours when the flash sales renew. It's every 12 hours

Ys is never late. Ys arrives precisely when it means to.

So in other words: Ysy does it.

State of Decay worth $9?

edit: People are already talking about the game on this page. My bad. Is the game really that buggy? Some of these reviews are... esh.

Can't speak for the new version (I heard its buggier than the vanilla release), but the original with the Romero mod (double/triple/quadruple the zombies that behave like proper slow shamblers) is AWESOME. Its a bit rough and can be buggy but its fun as hell. I put like 60 hours into it before I got burned out.

Seems like there isn't as much overlap between dailies and flash sales which is good. The flash sales also seem to be a lot more smaller/indie titles.

Nothing again today in the dailies, only got CS:GO so far and that was the same discount as per normal.

According to the steamdb the main executable of that game has changed at the same time with its name. I wonder if the game still runs or is it just a picture of shit like the store page.

It was just a rename. The game has never been patched.

Well my first Steam Refund experience was nice.

Wife bought me Alien Isolation & Far Cry 4 at full retail for my birthday a few weeks ago, gifted them to me and I added to my library but did not play yet.

"Ungifted" them today (Basically gives permission to the buyer to refund) and she ran the refund and they both went through in less than 2 hours.

Now I can rebuy during this sale and save $75.

Trying to decide between The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, The Banner Saga, and Transistor.

Ditto for the former and latter of your choices. Watching the dev explain Ethan Carter, and it seems interesting. I don't see any combat but the world looks stunning. Transistor I'm thinking of buying just because I love the art.

I'd go Transistor just for the music alone.
