Steam Summer Sale 2015 thread of refunding everything you buy (June 11-21)

Ditto for the former and latter of your choices. Watching the dev explain Ethan Carter, and it seems interesting. I don't see any combat but the world looks stunning. Transistor I'm thinking of buying just because I love the art.

I paid full price for Ethan Carter and was worth it (to me anyway).

No combat, just beautiful world, some fun puzzles and some great mechanics, and the story is fun too.

Definitely worth $6.79

Has Blood Dragon had its price increased before the sale only to have a lower "discount"? Isthereanydeal says it was at 75% off a while ago and that price is lower than the one it's supposedly at now.

Accidentally posted in the wrong thread, but:

I want to pick up one of the Civilization games but I'm not sure where to start. I want something that is newbie friendly as I have never played anything like it (I know). Civ 5 complete edition? The new space one or something older?

Civ V complete is the way to go.

Civ V Complete. You want to get Civ V with Gods & Kings and Brave New World, as well as all of the Civ, scenario and wonder DLC. It will literally provide you hundreds, if not over a thousand, hours of entertainment.

You'll install Civ V, start playing it, hit one more turn and then suddenly it's Tuesday.

I think I'm one of the rare people that likes Beyond Earth (it has been patched a few times since released and there are a lot of good community mods) but Civ V Complete is where you want to start if you're just entering the series.

I can confirm thousand of hours.
Beyond Earth is below fifty hours for me and most were not that enjoyable.

In the past two years I generally find it quite easy to resist steam sales these days. Other places combined with Humble Bundles, which I prefer, have generally made it pretty easy to pass up a lot of this stuff if you have a backlog.

Regarding Transistor:

When you look at the game by its components its great. The art style is great. The voice acting is phenomenal. The plot is intriguing.

But the whole thing never came together for me. As a game, it just didn't engage me.

Just give in to your desires dude, youre weak!

The problem is with a massive backlog it is hard to care anymore. I'm in the same boat as him. Banner Saga I might pick up. But Ethan Carter? Coming out on PS4 and it will be cheaper. Same with a bunch of these indies. None of them are really all that massively reduced. I kind of wanted Apotheon but I can already see it in a bundle at some point, though I might pick it up.

The backlog prevents me from doing a lot of crazy things atm. The WALL has been built too high and too strong!

On the other hand there are always people telling me to give in you bastards!

I've only spent $98 so far. My limit is $300, but I'd like to keep it to $200 or less if possible. I still want Telltale's Game of Thrones, Dark Souls 2, and Shovel Knight.

What did you buy? I'm still looking for my first purchase..

Alien Isolation + DLC
The Vanishing of Ethan Carter
Chivalry with Expansion
Wolfenstein The New Order
Wolfenstein The Old Blood
Hitman Collection
Nidhogg
Magica
The Binding of Isaac Rebirth
Metro Redux Bundle
Don't Starve Mega Pack

Thanks, just purchased the complete edition.

Fallout: NV and Divinity: Original Sin, should be done after that.

I am idling and intermittently playing the monster game all day, but only get 1 card to drop a day. Any tips on how to get the three drops?

Nice. Good pick up.

I'm at 200 hours for BE myself. About half of which came after the Winter 2015 patch. First 100 hours was achievements, and I was close to just hating the game trying to do Soyuz and Apollo runs. The second hundred hours was mostly because I kinda like the game now. There's still a lot that needs fixing but I think Rising Tide could be for Beyond Earth what Gods & Kings was for Civ V.

Gas Guzzlers Extreme looks pretty darn good. didn't expect much when i first saw it, but might end up grabbing that.

Can anyone tell em the first batch of deals that were unlocked through the Monster games. To clarify, I mean the games unlocked on thursday/friday morning and posted for friday. Is there a link somewhere? now that I think about it, reddit probably has it...

If you find a site keeping track please post the result back here. I'm looking for one, too :-/

I've wanted to get this game for a while. And everyone's been super iffy about the game. This is almost the first glowing review I've seen of the game on gaf.

My understanding is that the game on release had some gameplay affecting bugs. These have been patched and are all long gone now.

So I'm curious on the Banner Saga? The story isn't spectacular? One that stuck out was watching your character move very slowly on the map lol. You can create your own party right?
This is my impression from reading a couple of reviews.

Does anyone know if there's any technical differences between the PC and PS4 versions of Transistor?

Got the PS4 version with PS+ but would prefer to have it on Steam if it's even a minor technical upgrade.

It's been 50% off since day 1 of the sale. Waiting it out until the last day. Hope it goes a bitt lower but even if not, 20 bucks is a decent price for the full package imo.

Souls is one of the most popular games on Steam. It will get featured during a daily.

Higher resolution and any control configuration you want, even native DS4 support.

The story is great and very well put together. Its not really a party based as much as it is a board game type turn based. There are other role playing elements as well with a great soundtrack. Its a great game its just not like your typical rpg. Its hard, unique and fun. Easily worth the $5 if you are into turn based games.
